Necromancer: I Am A Disaster

Antares was swearing nonstop, and Lin Moyu found it oddly amusing. Where did this guy’s pent-up resentment come from?

From his tirade, it was clear that Antares held humanity’s so-called rules in utter contempt, though many of those rules seemed to apply only to humans from other worlds.

When Antares finally finished venting, Lin Moyu spoke calmly, “So, from what you’re saying, I do have a chance to comprehend law right now… It’s just extremely difficult.”

“Difficulty is only part of it.” Antares retorted, “Driving law requires the support of the soul. If your soul isn’t strong enough and you force it, the best outcome is severe injury; the worst is soul annihilation. Level 96 is a threshold. It’s the minimum level at which one can barely begin to wield law.”

Lin Moyu caught the contradiction immediately, “Didn’t you just say the threshold set by humans is nonsense? Why are you now claiming level 96 is the minimum?”

Antares refused to concede, “Level 96 is a real threshold. But that doesn’t mean you can’t touch law below it if you only use it sparingly.”

“In the Dragon race, we have methods that allow the use of law at level 90. As long as it’s not continuous, the backlash is manageable.”

Lin Moyu snorted softly, “You said it yourself; those are Dragon race methods. I’m human.”

“Some of them are usable by humans as well.” Antares replied.

“That’s impossible.” Lin Moyu said, feigning disbelief, “Tell me about them.”

Antares let out a smug chuckle, “One such method is the Soul-Splitting Law. It involves dividing the soul…”

All of a sudden, Antares snapped back to his senses and roared, “You brat! You tricked me into talking again!”

“You noticed?” Lin Moyu replied shamelessly, unfazed in the slightest.

Despite his caution, Antares had still fallen for it.

Furious, he grumbled, “You humans are full of schemes.”

Lin Moyu smiled, “Since you’ve already started, you might as well finish. What exactly is the Soul-Splitting Art?”

Antares glared at him, “And why should I tell you?”

Lin Moyu was in no hurry, “Don’t be so stingy, Lord Antares. With your vast knowledge, a mere Soul-Splitting Art should be trivial.”

“Damn it! That’s a law art, not some run-of-the-mill skill…”

Antares clamped his mouth shut, realizing too late that he had let something slip.

Lin Moyu’s smile widened.

Antares truly possessed knowledge beyond this world.

Lin Moyu decided that whenever he had time, he should come here to chat, as every time he did, it yielded something.

Antares, meanwhile, felt a sudden chill, as if he were being targeted. He glanced suspiciously at the shimmering sky, then at Lin Moyu, increasingly convinced that this guy was far too detestable.

Under Lin Moyu’s persistent coaxing, Antares finally gave in and “graciously” explained.

“When you remove a skill core from your skill space and integrate it into your soul, it becomes a soul skill.”

“In your world, you call it soul skill. Beyond your world, it’s known as law art.”

“No matter how powerful ordinary skills are, they have limits. Law arts do not. They can be refined endlessly.”

“Because law arts can contain law, that’s why they are called law arts.”

“Law arts also have limitless applications. There’s almost nothing they can’t do—only things you can’t imagine.”

“Including your Primordial Runes. Once you permanently master them, they essentially become a type of law art. You’re just used to calling them soul skills.”

…

Through Antares, Lin Moyu finally gained insight into something about beyond the world.

At the lowest tier were skills, followed by soul skills, also known as law arts.

Skills were limited; law arts were not.

Because law arts could contain law force, they possessed boundless potential.

God-level powerhouses typically transferred only two or three skill cores into their souls, transforming them into law arts.

Lin Moyu understood this well. Once skill cores entered the soul, they didn’t merely grow stronger; they gained an almost miraculous quality.

There was an insurmountable gap between skills and law arts, and the higher the level, the more pronounced that gap became.

No matter how powerful skills were, they could never rival law arts.

This was why God-level experts often fought with deceptively simple techniques, yet wielded terrifying power.

Level 90 God-level experts could crush dozens of level 89 class users.

Law arts were a major reason why.

“Now that you understand the difference between skills and law arts.” Antares said solemnly, “You should realize what kind of existence the Soul-Splitting Art truly is.”

The Soul-Splitting Law was a special kind of law art—undeniably powerful.

Suddenly, Lin Moyu frowned, “Skills are the precursors to law arts, but our skills awaken automatically at certain levels. That means they already exist within us. We can’t learn them from the outside.”

“Just like how I can’t learn skills from other classes. So this Soul-Splitting Art… isn’t it something I can’t learn either?”

Antares burst out laughing, “For someone so clever, how did you suddenly become so foolish? What do you think the Primordial Runes are?”

Lin Moyu froze, then slapped his forehead, “Right. How could I forget?”

The Primordial Runes were external objects, yet they now belonged to him.

If Primordial Runes could be mastered from outside, then with Antares’s abilities, he naturally had a way to teach the Soul-Splitting Art

As for how he would teach it, judging by Antares’s confidence, he clearly already had a plan.

Antares said, “I can teach you the Soul-Splitting Art. But how far you take it and whether you can truly make it your own depends entirely on you.”

Lin Moyu answered without hesitation, confidence plain in his voice, “Just teach me. I’ll take care of the rest. If I can’t master it, that’s my problem. I won’t blame you.”

Antares’s eyes widened, “You actually considered blaming me?”

“It crossed my mind.” Lin Moyu replied seriously.

“Get lost!” Antares roared.

A violent gale erupted, forcing Lin Moyu back several steps.

A beam of light shot from Antares’s eyes and struck Lin Moyu’s glabella.

Instantly, a speck of light appeared within his soul, rapidly expanding as if forming a skill star core.

“Your soul,” Antares’s voice echoed, “is… lively.”

That was putting it mildly.

Within Lin Moyu’s soul world, multiple skill star cores revolved ceaselessly.

In addition, there were two godheads and two godly slots, as well as the Monarch’s Scepter and the Genesis Scepter.

A nine-colored dragon soul coiled tightly around his soul-form, while the Demon Extermination Tower and the Thunderclap Tower lay within the soul-form’s grasp.

Aside from lively, Antares could think of no better word.

He snorted, “Such low-level godheads, what a waste. And these god slots? Absolute trash.”

“The Genesis Scepter is barely worth a glance, and even that’s ordinary stock.”

“The other scepter is more interesting… better than the Genesis Scepter of Creation. But it’s damaged.”

“And this looks like the Demon Extermination Tower of the Shenxia Empire?”

“Hm? Why does it carry Kunlun’s aura?”

…

As he instructed Lin Moyu in the Soul-Splitting Art, Antares freely inspected every corner of his soul world.

Lin Moyu made no effort to conceal anything, “The Kunlun Great God gave me a Kunlun Snow Grass King. I’m cultivating it within the Demon Extermination Tower, using the Thunderclap Tower to supply the element.”

Antares hummed, “The idea isn’t bad. But what’s the point of growing that thing?”

Lin Moyu understood. To Antares, such treasures were trivial; to humanity, they were priceless.

Antares’s tone suddenly turned grave, “Take my advice—do not use it. Don’t ruin your future.”

Lin Moyu’s brows shot up, “Why?”

“Anything cultivated through external means damages your foundation.” Antares said solemnly, “If your ambition ends at Transcendent God-level, it won’t matter. But if you aim higher, you must rely solely on yourself.”

“So I can’t use any external aids at all?” Lin Moyu asked quietly.

Antares shook his head, “Not exactly. It depends on the item’s nature and rank. Your Nine-Colored Dragon Soul Crystal is also external, yet it strengthens you without harm.”

“The Kunlun Snow Grass King forcibly raises your level. It’s like pulling on a sprout to make it grow. Use it, and you’ll pay the price.”

Lin Moyu’s heart skipped. Thankfully, he hadn’t used it.

Back at the Kunlun Divine Palace, he had come dangerously close.

That was close.

The path of cultivation was riddled with traps. A shallow pit could be climbed out of; a deep one could bury you forever.

By now, the cluster of light Antares had implanted in his soul had fully formed.

It resembled a skill star core, dense with countless runes, yet still faint and intangible, lacking true substance.

Antares said, “This is the Soul-Splitting Art. Use it to comprehend and wield the Soul-Splitting Art. When you truly master it, it will solidify into a skill star core and become yours.”

“Now, recreate the moment when you sensed law. Feel it again.”

“With the Soul-Splitting Art coordinating it, the law will finally be able to display some power.”
