Necromancer: I Am A Disaster

The central area of Fortress No. 9 had been a forbidden zone for centuries. It was the territory of the Demon Extermination Tower, and no one was allowed to approach it.

Within a 500-meter radius, wind blades and lightning raged relentlessly, attacking anyone who dared enter.

Yet now, along with a sudden tremor, right under everyone’s gazes, the Demon Extermination Tower vanished.

In an instant, the violent energy dissipated, and the area returned to tranquil silence.

Wang Lin stared in shock, eyes wide, “He… succeeded.”

Ye Hao seemed to have anticipated this outcome long ago. Though a trace of disappointment flickered in his eyes, he quickly accepted it as inevitable.

Beyond that disappointment came a deep sense of relief, as though a heavy weight had been lifted from his chest, “The disciple surpasses the teacher.”

Meng Anwen chuckled, “Senior Ye Hao, it’s not very polite to speak ill of someone behind his back.”

Ye Hao burst into laughter, “Then call that brat Bai over here. I’ll say it to his face.”

Meng Anwen smiled, “You used to call him that more than 70 years ago. Hearing it now really brings back memories.”

Ye Hao nodded, “Indeed. Time passes quickly. In the blink of an eye, you’ve all grown old.”

Casting off the Demon Extermination Tower was like shedding invisible shackles. Ye Hao’s posture relaxed, his spirit visibly reinvigorated.

Though over 100 years old, he was barely halfway through his lifespan.

For a God-level expert, living 200 years was hardly extraordinary.

He still had ample time to advance further.

Lost in thought, Ye Hao recalled the past. When Meng Anwen and the others had first emerged, he had been their senior, and their relationships had been good.

Later, due to various circumstances, they had drifted apart and eventually found themselves on opposing sides.

Looking back now, it all seemed unnecessary. They were all human, all citizens of Shenxia, striving toward the same goal.

Without the burden of the tower clouding his heart, Ye Hao suddenly saw things clearly, “We shouldn’t been like this.”

Meng Anwen nodded in agreement, “No. We shouldn’t.”

Wang Lin, Wei Cang, and Xia Shize exchanged stunned looks.

Listening to Ye Hao and Meng Anwen speak so openly, it sounded as though the long-standing feud between their faction and Bai Yiyuan’s might finally come to an end.

Could decades of grudges truly be resolved so easily?

Yet if even they could consider it, how could Ye Hao and Meng Anwen not have done so as well?

As fellow humans of Shenxia, there were no conflicts that truly couldn’t be reconciled.

After storing away the Demon Extermination Tower, Lin Moyu remained suspended in midair, motionless, eyes closed.

To everyone else, it appeared as though he was carefully digesting the tower’s inheritance.

After all, controlling such a powerful piece of equipment normally required extensive time and effort.

What they didn’t realize was that Lin Moyu had gained complete mastery the instant he obtained it.

He had already controlled the Thunderclap Tower before. The Demon Extermination Tower, merely a replica, posed no real challenge.

At that moment, Lin Moyu was focused on something far more important.

Within his soul world, his soul-form sat cross-legged, palms facing upward. A miniature tower hovered above each hand.

The Demon Extermination Tower on the right, the Thunderclap Tower’s outer tower on the left.

The moment the Demon Extermination Tower sensed the Thunderclap Tower’s outer tower, it reacted like a mouse encountering a cat, trembling all over, suppressed by an instinctive fear that left it utterly submissive.

Lin Moyu opened a special space within the Demon Extermination Tower. Using his soul as a bridge, he established a channel between the two towers and began transferring the lightning element from the Thunderclap Tower.

He wasn’t certain the idea would work; it had come to him in a moment of inspiration.

Yet the channel formed smoothly. Lin Moyu was immune to the lightning element—not only physically, but at the level of the soul.

This allowed the lightning element to pass through without resistance.

Quivering, the Demon Extermination Tower accepted the lightning element and guided it, according to Lin Moyu’s will, into the newly opened space.

The experiment succeeded.

In no time, the newly opened space of the Demon Extermination Tower was flooded with vast quantities of the lightning element.

The trait of the Thunderclap Tower reemerged: all other elements were expelled, leaving behind a world belonging solely to the lightning element.

Strictly speaking, the Demon Extermination Tower could also release the lightning element, but its quality was vastly inferior.

It was like the difference between 18K and 24K gold. Both were gold, but their purity was different.

The Kunlun Snow Grass King demanded the purest element possible.

Without the Thunderclap Tower’s outer tower, the Demon Extermination Tower would have been sufficient. But now, the choice was obvious.

Just then, the Demon Extermination Tower began to tremble lightly. A strand of consciousness was transmitted.

The consciousness came from the core, from the tiny, weak sentience.

The message it conveyed was likewise very faint: “Eat...”

Lin Moyu discerned that single word.

He asked, “Are you saying you want to eat the lightning element?”

The Demon Extermination Tower vibrated twice in response. Another strand of consciousness followed: “Eat… evolve.”

Lin Moyu was surprised, “You mean the lightning element can help you evolve?”

“Yes.”

Once again, a strand of consciousness emanated from the Demon Extermination Tower.

After a moment’s reflection, Lin Moyu understood.

As a peak legendary-grade piece of equipment, the tower possessed the potential to evolve, but the process had always been passive, requiring external intervention.

Now that it had developed a faint sentience, self-directed evolution had become possible, though it still depended on outside forces.

The Thunderclap Tower’s outer tower, with its exceptionally pure lightning element, was precisely the catalyst it needed.

Of course, evolution wouldn’t be that simple. It would require massive quantities of legendary-grade materials; mythical-grade ones would be even better.

Lin Moyu resolved to find a way to obtain them.

Since the Demon Extermination Tower wanted to absorb the lightning element from the Thunderclap Tower’s outer tower, he had no reason to refuse.

“Go ahead. Eat.”

The tower vibrated gently, conveying joy and gratitude.

Its sentience was still weak, so the information it could transmit was limited.

Lin Moyu sensed it absorb a small portion of the lightning element—roughly 1% of what had been transferred—before stopping.

Curious, he asked, “Why did you stop?”

“Full.”

Lin Moyu couldn’t help but chuckle.

It had barely taken a single bite and was already full.

The faint sentience was surprisingly amusing.

With the experiment successful, he could transplant the Kunlun Snow Grass King once he returned to the White God Courtyard.

By nourishing it with the lightning element, he would secure a steady supply of Kunlun Snow Grass.

This was an immensely profitable venture.

Lin Moyu opened his eyes. On the flight back, he noticed Meng Anwen and Ye Hao chatting and laughing as though they were old friends.

The sight felt strange. Weren’t these two supposed to be at odds?

However, this didn’t look like an act.

He returned to Meng Anwen’s side, “Teacher, I’m back.”

Meng Anwen nodded, “Not bad. What do you think of the Demon Extermination Tower?”

Lin Moyu answered honestly, “It’s alright.”

Ye Hao burst into laughter, “Godly General Lin, your standards are truly high! The Demon Extermination Tower is a top-tier legendary-grade equipment and one of the three great towers of the Shenxia Empire, yet in your eyes it’s only alright? Then tell me, what counts as good?”

There was no mockery in his tone. Lin Moyu could sense his sincerity.

“The Thunderclap Tower.” Lin Moyu replied seriously.

Ye Hao was immediately left speechless.

Lin Moyu was simply stating the truth. Compared to the Thunderclap Tower, the Demon Extermination Tower really did pale in comparison.

Meng Anwen explained, “Moyu has operated the Thunderclap Tower before. He used Godslaying Lightning to kill a Demon King and even held his ground against the Demon Emperor.”

Ye Hao snapped his gaze toward Lin Moyu, shock written plainly on his face.

Wang Lin and the others were no better, standing there dumbstruck.

Lin Moyu had controlled the Thunderclap Tower to slay a Demon King, and even confronted the Demon Emperor?

Such a feat was almost unimaginable to them, yet he had accomplished it.

Meng Anwen wouldn’t lie, nor could he; the truth could be confirmed simply by asking around Shenxia City.

After a long pause, Ye Hao cleared his throat, “The disciple truly surpasses the teacher. That saying fits perfectly. You’re far better than that brat Bai.”

Meng Anwen smiled, “I agree. Moyu is better than Old Bai.”

Lin Moyu said modestly, “I still fall short compared to Teachers and Senior Ye.”

He spoke sincerely. By now, he could tell that Meng Anwen and Ye Hao had likely reconciled.

As Meng Anwen’s disciple, showing proper respect was only natural.

Ye Hao seemed pleased, “I’m getting old. This era belongs to you young ones.”

Meng Anwen laughed, “Senior Ye, you’re still in your prime. Level 96 isn’t far off. Perhaps the next time we meet, you’ll have already grasped law.”

Ye Hao laughed heartily, “Then I’ll take that as a blessing from you, Young An!”

The mouths of Wang Lin and the others twitched. Meng Anwen was already level 96 and grasped law himself.

His acting skills were truly first-rate.

Wang Lin finally conceded that he was inferior to Meng Anwen—at least when it came to acting.
