Necromancer: I Am A Disaster

Her voice was laden with sorrow, her expression no different.

As the Water God spoke, Lin Moyu kept his gaze fixed on her eyes.

Within them flickered countless memories, memories of fellow Gods falling one after another on the battlefield while she stood helpless, unable to save them.

Tears gathered at the corners of her eyes, heavy with bitterness.

Though Lin Moyu had never experienced such loss himself, he could imagine the crushing weight of it, and empathy stirred quietly within him.

Gradually, the Water God pulled herself free from those memories. The moisture in her eyes faded, replaced once again by a gentle, captivating smile.

“How is it? Does it feel hopeless?”

“Even Transcendent God-level, it still amounts to nothing.”

“The enemy is so powerful that we couldn’t even figure out their true origins.”

“In my eyes, the Dreadbeasts and those insects were nothing more than the enemy’s vanguard.”

The dejection in her voice was unmistakable.

She had struggled for countless years to reach Transcendent God-level, rising to become the leader of the water elemental Gods, only to be crippled before the great war had even fully begun.

By the time the geat war ended, she had never once seen the enemy’s true form, only endless waves of monsters.

Perhaps, to the enemy lurking behind the scenes, those Dreadbeasts and insects were mere cannon fodder. Yet to the Gods, they were an apocalyptic calamity.

That was why the few surviving Gods and human powerhouses reached a unanimous agreement after the great war: to bury this history forever and never allow it to be spoken of again.

If the truth were revealed, belief itself would collapse.

Countless people would lose hope, convinced that no matter how hard they struggled, it was meaningless, that even reaching Transcendent God-level only allowed one to exchange blows with the enemy’s expendable pawns.

With the world force scarce and the world will sunk in slumber, the world truly seemed devoid of hope.

Lin Moyu understood their reasoning. Some truths were indeed too heavy for the world to bear.

Yet he felt no discouragement.

Because he had seen something far more terrifying.

In the starry depths of the universe, he had witnessed unequaled powerhouse reduced to ashes by the old man riding the green ox.

Compared to that, this great war felt like nothing more than children playing at war.

Lin Moyu was certain that so long as he became strong enough, the enemy could be erased with a mere flick of his finger.

Seeing the unwavering conviction in his eyes, the Water God’s heart finally found a measure of peace.

Sensing the growing instability in her aura, Lin Moyu said calmly, “You should return to your slumber.”

She shook her head gently, “I don’t want to sleep yet. I want to use the little time I have left to go out and see… to see the world.”

“There will be plenty of time in the future.” Lin Moyu replied.

The Water God studied him with quiet curiosity, “Even I feel hopeless. Why do you still have such confidence?”

Lin Moyu answered without hesitation, his voice steady and firm, “Because hope truly exists.”

“I was once trapped in despair and was saved by human ancestors. They’ve been dead for 1,000 years, yet their will endures. Their resolve to protect humanity has never faded.”

“I’ve seen skills left behind from the previous age. Back then, resurrection skills existed. I just don’t know whether they can be used on you.”

“I’ve seen the projection of the God of Life. She said that hope never disappears.”

“And I’ve seen even more terrifying existences—beings for whom Dreadbeasts can be erased with a snap of a finger.”

He spoke at length, and the Water God understood the meaning behind every word.

She looked at him for a long moment, then suddenly laughed, “You are very special.”

“Very well, I’ll listen to you. I’ll continue my slumber.”

“Perhaps one day, you will heal my wounds and awaken me once more.”

Lin Moyu met her gaze, his expression solemn, “I will.”

Amid her melodious laughter, a massive ice sculpture formed once more, encasing the Water God within. She descended into deep sleep again, becoming a “sleeping beauty” again.

As she slept, her aura stabilized.

Though her injuries would not heal, their deterioration slowed dramatically.

Prolonging her life for another 1,000 years would not be difficult.

“In the future, it won’t be a mere possibility. It will be a certainty.” Lin Moyu vowed silently.

Endless torrents of water continued to flow into the Water God’s domain, transforming into pure water element that was absorbed by the sleeping her, buying her even more time.

Lin Moyu left the Water God’s Palace and exited the Green Dragon Ocean.

Standing within the void, his gaze pierced through layers of space as he surveyed the entire lower layer.

The Water God had confirmed his suspicions.

The lower layer was a graveyard, a place where many Gods lay buried or slumbered.

The great war had begun in the deep layer before spreading to the lower layer.

The rules of the Immemorial Battlefield had shattered, allowing God-level powerhouses to wage prolonged battles in the lower layer.

Countless Gods and human God-level class users had fallen.

Many surviving Gods chose to slumber within the lower layer after the great war.

Once the birthplace of countless Gods, it had now become their final resting place.

And as time stretched on, some of those slumbering Gods might have already entered eternal sleep, turning the lower layer into a graveyard of the Gods.

“The Meteorfall Continent is the resting place of the God of Stars. He is not dead, only sleeping.”

“The Wind God and the Lightning God slumber within the Wind–Lightning Continent. The Lightning God has perished, while the Wind God’s fate remains unknown.”

“The Fire God and the Light God have vanished without a trace. Their whereabouts are a mystery.”

“The Elemental Dungeons are a contingency, left behind by several Gods at the beginning of the great war, their final gamble.”

“And even now, many godheads of fallen Gods are still missing…”

Lin Moyu organized his thoughts, finally grasping the truth of what had happened in the past.

That war had plunged the entire world into silence.

This age was never meant to be so weak. Even if Transcendent God-level were rare, it should not have reached a point where not a single one emerged.

Half-step Transcendent God-level should never have been hailed as the pinnacle of existence.

Humanity certainly should not have been driven to the brink of extinction by the Abyssal Demons and the Dragonkind.

The root of it all lay in the great war and in the invader who had sparked it.

The bitter irony was that no one even knew the invader’s true identity.

Only remnants of their presence remained: the Dreadland, the world inhabited by the Dreadbeasts.

Human God-level powerhouses were aware of its existence, yet none dared to set foot there.

The Dreadbeasts could only be slain through the power of law.

During the great war, high-tier Gods had forged numerous law-infused weapons, enabling low-tier and mid-tier Gods to kill ordinary Dreadbeasts.

But that age was long gone. The Gods had disappeared, and human class users had become pitifully weak.

Lin Moyu let out a soft sigh.

He had never imagined that the answer he had sought for so long would be this.

To others, this revelation would have shattered their faith and plunged them into despair. For Lin Moyu, however, it ignited a fierce fighting spirit.

His resolve only hardened. He would never allow such a tragedy to happen again.

Activating the Shenxia City mark, Lin Moyu teleported back.

Among all of humanity, he alone possessed this mark, granting him the ability to return from the lower layer at any time.

Of course, it was far from absolute. If space were sealed, the mark would fail.

In the end, it was still a matter of power; the mark merely granted him limited privileges.

He knew well that he had only earned the city’s preliminary recognition. True acknowledgment—or complete control—lay far beyond his current reach.

Shenxia City was immensely powerful. If fully controlled, it might rival Transcendent God-level.

Yet the difficulty was so great that even Lin Moyu had no confidence of success.

The moment he returned, a wave of noise washed over him—chaotic voices laced with panic.

Puzzled, Lin Moyu saw countless class users gathered in the city square.

Everyone’s attention seemed to be drawn elsewhere, and his arrival went unnoticed.

The Thunderclap Tower had risen from underground, towering even higher than during its previous activation.

The sky flared with blinding light, followed by a deafening thunderclap.

A massive bolt of lightning struck the tower’s tip.

Light cascaded downward, engulfing the entire structure.

The shockwave blasted nearby class users away, turning the 50-meter radius around the tower into an absolute forbidden zone.

Lightning fell again and again, thunder roaring without pause.

The radiance intensified until the area became a vast sea of lightning.

Waves of pressure surged outward; most class users couldn’t endure it and let out muffled groans.

Many were forced from the air, crashing helplessly to the ground.

Lin Moyu spotted Feng Yiming—one of the few still able to remain airborne.

He flew over and asked, “Commander Feng, what’s going on?”
