Necromancer: I Am A Disaster

Lin Moyu knew little about the relationships among the Gods.

Yet from the Water God’s words, he could tell that those relationships were both simple and deeply complex.

The elemental lineages were clearly divided, with the Water God standing at the pinnacle of the water element.

Every God of the water lineage was, in essence, her subordinate.

This revelation surprised Lin Moyu.

“You…”

His surprise stemmed from one thing: the Water God’s strength. It was far less than he had imagined.

How could the leader of an entire elemental lineage be merely a low-tier God, not even a mid-tier one?

Guessing his thoughts, the Water God smiled faintly, “Do you think I am weak?”

Lin Moyu didn’t deny it, “Honestly, yes. As the head of an elemental lineage, you are somewhat… weak.”

The Water God smiled. Her smile bloomed like myriad flowers at once, breathtakingly beautiful.

Her gentle voice rose slowly, “You are very straightforward. That is a virtue. Back then, we were just as frank with your human race’s class users. That honesty was what allowed us to achieve final victory.”

“We Gods of the five elemental lineages—wind, water, fire, lightning, and light—were never meant to be this weak. Unfortunately, at the very beginning of the great war, our power was forcibly stripped away. Our god slot plummeted, and we were reduced to low-tier Gods.”

“If that had not happened, the war would never have been so grueling.”

Lin Moyu frowned, “Stripped away? By whom?”

The Water God shook her head gently, “I don’t know. No one does. We don’t know who acted, nor how it was done. One moment, we stood at the peak; the next, we had fallen from our pedestals.”

“Take a guess—what tier do you think we were originally?”

The Water God seemed more relaxed now, even willing to joke.

Calm and unhurried, she spoke as though her life were not quietly slipping away.

Lin Moyu knew she should have remained in slumber. Had she done so, she could have endured for thousands of years.

But she didn’t want to sleep. She wanted to talk.

After a brief moment of thought, Lin Moyu replied, “Transcendent God-level.”

The Water God chuckled softly, “You’re clever. You guessed correctly.”

She didn’t seem surprised; it was as though she had expected him to reach that conclusion.

In the God hierarchy, above high-tier Gods stood the Great Gods, beings equivalent to human half-step Transcendent God-level.

Beyond even them were Transcendent Gods, existences that transcended conventional God-level, comparable to human Transcendent God-level.

Lin Moyu hadn’t guessed blindly.

Why else would that mysterious existence specifically target the heads of the elemental lineages?

The Water God had said that, had their power remained intact, the war would not have been so brutal.

And the head of an elemental lineage should not be weak.

The Kunlun Great God had not been targeted, but they had.

The only explanation was that they had stood above Great Gods.

“Can you tell me what happened back then?” Lin Moyu asked.

The Water God studied him quietly, “Do you truly wish to know? We reached an agreement with the human race to bury this matter in history. Only those who reach the level of a Great God are permitted to learn the truth.”

“Your strength is impressive, but your level is still too low. Learning this too early will not benefit you.”

“It may even damage your confidence.”

Lin Moyu met her gaze, equally serious, “I’ve heard that warning many times. Ever since I entered the Fire God’s dungeon and uncovered part of this secret, I’ve been searching for the truth.”

“I want to know everything that happened.”

“Don’t worry about my resolve. I’m tougher than you think. I’ve encountered countless powerful beings, both from this world and beyond.”

“For example… Antares.”

He produced Antares’s scale, which contained his aura. He was certain the Water God would recognize it.

Antares was an ancient existence—older than this age, perhaps even older than the last one.

He had witnessed that great war firsthand, yet the fellow stubbornly refused to speak, deliberately dodging every question until Lin Moyu eventually gave up in frustration.

At the sight of the scale, a glimmer flashed through the Water God’s eyes, “You actually obtained a token from that Lord? Impressive.”

“Very well. Since you wish to know, I will tell you.”

A flicker of joy stirred in Lin Moyu’s heart. The answer he had pursued for so long was finally within reach.

The Water God gestured toward the other courtyards, “You passed through three of courtyards. You saw the ice sculptures, didn’t you?”

Lin Moyu nodded, “I did. The middle courtyard should hold the enemies—I saw Dreadbeasts. In the first and third courtyards, Gods and human class users were launching a joint attack on the enemy.”

The Water God smiled, her voice as clear and gentle as falling water, “Your understanding is correct. That is exactly how it was. When they invaded, we joined forces with humanity to resist them.”

“Several of us Transcendent Gods had our power stripped away and were reduced to low-tier Gods.”

“I was no longer strong enough to fight, so I created those ice sculptures to preserve the truth.”

“Had you reached the Great God level, what you call half-step Transcendent God-level, you could have extracted all the information yourself.”

“That way, even if I perished, the truth would endure.”

…

The Water God had prepared for the worst. Even if she fell and truly died, someone would one day uncover this place, and with it, the buried past.

What followed was a history meant to be sealed away, yet never forgotten.

It was a catastrophe that engulfed the entire world.

When the external enemies descended, the world stood on the brink of annihilation.

The strongest Gods were stripped of their power, their might shattered.

At the time, humanity possessed only a single Transcendent God-level, far too little to bear the burden alone.

The war was fought on such a level that only God-level were even qualified to participate.

Low-tier Gods were nothing more than cannon fodder.

From the outset, the Gods and the humans fought defensively, suffering devastating losses.

At that rate, defeat was inevitable, and the destruction of the world seemed certain.

Then, the world will began to awaken.

As it stirred, world force surged forth.

The world will possessed no consciousness, only instinct.

It sensed extinction drawing near.

Under the influence of world force, human geniuses emerged in droves. Countless class users ascended to God-level.

True prodigies rose to high-tier God-level and half-step Transcendent God-level.

Within a few short years, more than 10 Transcendent God-level were born.

At that time, the only invaders were the Dreadbeasts. Once humanity uncovered their weaknesses, the tide of battle began to turn.

Then came the second invader.

They were known as the Zerg.

Their arrival changed everything.

The battlefield grew incomparably more dangerous and bizarre.

The war dragged on for a full century. In the end, the world force was exhausted, and the world will sank back into deep slumber.

At an unimaginably tragic cost, humanity barely seized a final victory.

But the world was left in ruins.

The Gods were nearly wiped out; the few survivors were gravely wounded and fell into prolonged sleep.

Every human Transcendent God-level and half-step Transcendent God-level perished. Only a single high-tier God-level survived, and even they hovered on the brink of death.

With world force depleted, no one knew how long recovery would take.

The heritage of class users fractured, and without the world force’s support, producing geniuses became exceedingly difficult.

Even so, they had won. Humanity was granted time, time to heal.

But peace was fleeting.

Perhaps because the world barrier had been damaged during the great war, a mere century later the Abyss and the Dragonkind World descended simultaneously.

Humanity was once again thrust into crisis.

…

Up to the present day, humans had endured and slowly grown stronger.

The world force was recovering, and more and more geniuses were emerging.

Though it could not yet compare to its peak age, so long as another calamity of that magnitude did not occur, humanity would eventually reclaim its former glory.

After listening, Lin Moyu asked, “Antares was there, wasn’t he? Did he not help?”

If Antares had truly done nothing, Lin Moyu fully intended to go back and give that guy a piece of his mind.

The Water God replied softly, “The Lord did take action. Without him, the final outcome would have been uncertain.”

“However, he said he had concerns and could not act freely.”

Lin Moyu had his own suspicions. Antares had been thrown into this world by the Dragon God; it was never his choice to remain.

There were things Antares refused to speak of no matter what, so Lin Moyu did not press further.

At last, the overall sequence of events became clear.

“Do you know who invaded us?” Lin Moyu asked, cutting straight to the core.

The Water God sighed and slowly shook her head, “I don’t know. No one does. The world nearly collapsed, almost everyone died, and in the end, we didn’t even know who the enemy truly was. Isn’t that absurd?”

“Not even Antares?”

“The Lord knows… but he cannot say.”
