STRIKER: Independent Beast Tamer

Jeremy didn’t give any further chances. He slashed at the beast. The wild boar beast’s movement had slowed down. It could only watch the katana blade penetrating its inner organs.

Shortly afterwards,

The Tier-2 corrupted beast died after losing its vitality. Jeremy was satisfied with the result. He used basic moves to kill the beast.

Jacob’s eyes flashed with approval. Though he wanted to witness the power of the lifeline beast, he was still satisfied with Jeremy’s fighting talent.

It showed that Jeremy could really fight without relying on the lifeline beast. The last lingering doubt regarding Jeremy’s talent had disappeared.

”He is good!”

”No wonder the dean is optimistic about revitalizing the fallen department,” Ariel said with a smile.

She knew that it wasn’t easy for newcomers to achieve this, despite coming from a Beast Tamer family.

”Well, I confirmed his strength. Next, I’m going to make preparations for the upcoming competition,” Jacob said.

Ariel raised her eyebrows and asked, ”Are you going to make that kid fight alone?”

”He doesn’t have any choice,” Jacob said wryly.

It’s revealed that they are going to develop the Striker Department. If they don’t join the competition, it won’t have any meaning.

Creak!

The iron door opened. Jeremy then walked out with a smile on his face.

”Jeremy, you did well. Now you can go back to your dorm. Wait for me to collect information, and then we will discuss the competition tomorrow,” Jacob said.

”Okay,” Jeremy agreed. Then he started to walk back alone towards the dorm building.

Jacob then spoke a few words to Ariel before leaving. He wanted Ariel’s cooperation. He was thinking about conducting similar tests monthly to keep track of Jeremy Night’s progress.

Ariel Burt agreed to help. If she got any positive feedback from the dean, it would be good for her. So there was no disadvantage in this cooperation.

...

The following day,

Jeremy arrived at the lecture hall. As usual, he sat on the chair and started watching online posts. There was a huge noise among the first years since yesterday.

The news of the competition had made everyone excited. Some of them had already started preparing for it. Jeremy thought that the other department representatives must have started training.

Not long after,

Instructor Jacob arrived in the class. Upon seeing Jeremy, he said, ”I did some digging yesterday. Like I had guessed, the competition theme is about hunting the corrupted beasts.”

”So don’t think too much about it. As long as we don’t get bottom place, it’s fine,” Jacob said.

Jeremy nodded and said, ”I don’t think people from the Medicine Department can overtake me. There is also the Machinery Department; I don’t know about their fighting capability.”

”These two departments are like auxiliary departments; their job is different from the others. You can easily perform better than these two departments.”

”So your main goal should be the others,” he added.

Jeremy agreed. He wanted to keep his ability hidden. If he wanted, he could perform better than other representatives, except for the S-Graders.

But it would attract unwanted attention. He still didn’t know what Petra Ross and Levy Glass were up to these days. Until he gained a strong foothold here, he wouldn’t show off.

Time passed in the blink of an eye.

All the newcomers started getting used to university life. The upcoming competition had sparked rivalries between the departments.

The most favored were the Elemental Department and the Control Department. The department ranking competition may seem ordinary.

But the second, third, and fourth years were keeping an eye on it. The actions of Violet Heath and Ernest Knox had already spread across the university.

These two individuals had already recruited talented people into their families. So the people from medium and small-sized forces were looking forward to seeing the performance of B- and G-Grade talents.

Since there were only a few days left before the department ranking competition, the well-known forces in City A were also paying attention to it.

If any emerging talent appeared, then these forces would sponsor them at an early stage to get benefits.

It’s like investing small amounts at an early stage; if they became strong Beast Tamers in the future, the families who sponsored them would reap the rewards. The Beast Taming Association is an important force, keeping an eye on all the emerging talent.

Not only from Central University 14 but also from their own training camps and families connected to them.

Meanwhile,

In City C, Zone 14, the City Governor Ron Night and his wife Nora were discussing their child. The appointment of their son as department representative had surprised them.

They couldn’t help but wonder whether it was the work of Lord Martha. But because of this appointment, the Night Family in City C was in the limelight again.

The news from City A was followed by many, so the news about young master Jeremy Night made everyone in City C proud.

Especially the Night Estate Family guards, who were the happiest of them all. They had witnessed how their young master slayed a Tier-3 corrupted beast and saved the western lake settlement.

So the whole City C was looking forward to the news of the competition as well.

Time passed.

Exactly ten days after the opening ceremony, the department ranking competition started. Dean Carolyn changed the rules this year.

She wanted the first years to have a wildlife experience. So the abandoned ruins outside of City A were selected as the competition site.

The department teachers and Beast Tamers left with university patrol teams. Not all the first years were going to participate; the university didn’t force anyone.

Those who volunteered left the campus with their department teachers.

They were traveling in flying vehicles. When the flying vehicles left City A and entered the wild area, the university patrol teams went ahead to secure the abandoned ruins.

They would surround the place from all four directions, leaving only Tier-1 and Tier-2 beasts.

Department teachers and Beast Tamers stepped out of their vehicles. Everyone was standing at the entrance.

May Lindsey and Victor Scott led their department Beast Tamers. The other representatives led their Beast Tamers at the front as well.
