Pillar of Yita

”Captain, speaking of which, what is the name of that guild?” Gita’s deep voice came through the Communication Crystal, mingled with the sound of wind.

Today, the wind in Orlenze was quite strong, and all the navigation flags hanging from the crowns of the giant trees in the distance had flown up, resembling blue and white ribbons.

Blue and white are the emblems of this city.

”It’s called Art of Dispute, it seems their first Chairman was a musician.” Fang Hong watched the distant flying leaves as they drifted across the azure sky.

A low rumbling sound came from the sky, and a shadow passed over, slowly obscuring the top of the clock tower.

He looked up at the colossal object coming into port, the boat-style airships were always so awe-inspiring.

This is the mail ship from the north, Floating Island Whale, fixed on the route between Eis and here. The Artisan Association had announced the ship’s arrival yesterday.

The floating compartments, trailing behind the boat-style airship, were balloon-hung floatation containers, somewhat akin to trains in function. However, they could only be seen on ships with fixed routes, as they would lose more than half in case of abnormal weather conditions.

The humming droned over the city’s clock chimes.

”Captain, it seems their people have arrived.” Luo Yu’s voice also sounded.

Upon hearing this voice, Tang Xin turned around, her gaze sweeping over the other side of the plaza.

This was the place agreed upon for the meeting, not far from the Adventurers’ Guild.

The main reason for choosing this place was that the plaza’s open terrain made it easy to observe the surrounding situation.

Fang Hong and Hilveld were both in disguise, and Miss Ship’s Officer still had silver hair and a veil—this time she also added two pointy ears.

It nearly triggered Fang Hong’s embarrassment syndrome.

He wanted very much to tell Hilveld not to do this next time.

But Miss Ship’s Officer looked at him with those speaking eyes, as if asking: does it not look good?

Fang Hong simply couldn’t bring himself to say words that contradicted his heart.

Tang Xin soon saw several people with the insignia of a lyre and rapier crossed on their chests appear.

”They’ve come,” she said softly.

Fang Hong nodded, but since it was agreed that Tang Xin and Hilveld would negotiate with the others, he didn’t make any gesture.

At this time, Tang Xin walked out, waved in that direction, and the other party immediately looked over.

But then Fang Hong saw among those people a sharp-faced, sinister-looking middle-aged man who glanced at them from a distance, took a step back, grabbed someone, whispered a few words to them and the latter nodded and immediately ran off.

”Mr. Tus, what are you doing?” Silian obviously also noticed what was happening behind him, and turned with a serious expression to look at the other.

”None of your business,” Tus’s expression changed, answering harshly: ”Your chairman promised me full supervision over this transaction.”

”I think you’re going to notify the Descendants of Flor, right?” Several young people from the Art of Dispute immediately mocked.

The man let out a light snort.

Silian glanced at him but said nothing more. If the Descendants of Flor were still willing to offer a higher price, he could actually accept that.

The disagreement among those people was clear in the eyes of Fang Hong and the other two.

”That person is called Tus, he’s the asset auditor sent by your world. After you learned about the Oak Knights and the Southern Alliance, the alliance issued a new regulation,” Hilveld looked at the person and whispered in his ear, ”This gentleman is the biggest problem, I guess the people of the Descendants of Flor have already bought him over.”

Fang Hong had roughly heard about the origin of this asset audit system, it was to protect the investing party on Earth. If the Free Guild wanted to seek investors, the investing party would send an auditor with supervisory nature.

During the process of completing the transaction between the two parties, any movement in the guild’s assets needed the auditor’s approval, in this way, it prevents the Free Guild from secretly transferring personnel and assets, leaving the investor to only buy an empty shell.

These systems are already established on Earth, it’s just the first time they were used in the Free Guild that operates in a non-commercial manner in Eteliria.

Of course, this also only applies to those Free Guilds that intend to merge into the commercial rules of the Super Competitive League.

For those who would rather break than bend, it doesn’t hold much meaning either.

No matter how the Super Competitive League was, it couldn’t control others wanting to disband a guild.

Fang Hong was somewhat surprised after hearing Hilveld’s words, ”So he’s derelict in his duties, won’t the investing side trouble him afterward?”

Being a spy in the Free Guild, betraying the guild, at most it’s just subject to moral condemnation.

But playing this in a company, that’s economic crime, and would mean jail time.

Tang Xin shook her head, ”He’s just passing on messages for the Descendants of Flor, and since the Descendants of Flor are offering a higher price, his choice as an auditor for the Descendants of Flor is also justifiable. And afterwards if the Descendants of Flor people regret, it’s just an intention, just like our failure yesterday, many commercial contracts fail, as long as he can’t be caught, what responsibility does he bear.”

”So why do you assume this person has a problem?” Fang Hong was greatly surprised.

”Simple, he’s not a fool, he’s an auditor, assessing risk is his job. Having offered such a high price, do you think he wouldn’t have investigated the conflict yesterday between the Descendants of Flor and us?”
