Pillar of Yita

The pioneering technical work has already been completed by others on his behalf, but the subsequent technical path needs him to tread personally.

Although he accumulated a considerable amount of experience during the construction of the Seven Seas Traveler, he still has a long way to go.

The Imperials, although proud, indeed possess the world’s finest technology. They have a reason to be proud; the Imperial Workshop is presently an elusive leader in the field of Alchemy, and going there might indeed allow him to learn many things.

Going to the Empire? Fang Hong felt a bit uneasy; the First Division has extraordinary strength, being the domain of the King of Grey.

Lately, however, Miss Atira and the Big Cat People have been discussing returning to Giant Tree Hill, and since the Empire is closer to Sanxiak, after visiting the Empire, he could visit Giant Tree Hill along the way.

It’s also the second home of Tianlan and Parker, and in any case, the matters between Tianlan and the Twelve-Colored Iris should be attended to.

Fang Hong organized his thoughts, and his eyes became much clearer. In any case, he should aim for the pinnacle of the Empire first, even if it’s just a tour—just as Hilveld said, it’s a holy land in the hearts of craftsmen.

Hilveld saw his expression and understood his thoughts, ”It looks like Lord Captain has already decided.”

She pursed her lips.

”What is it?” Fang Hong asked, a bit surprised, looking at the suddenly smiling Miss Ship’s Officer.

”Oh, nothing, it’s just that Lord Captain reminds me a lot of my father.”

She said with a curved smile, ”Once you bring up ships, you just can’t stop.”

Fang Hong paused slightly, then smiled awkwardly, ”Come to think of it, I have to thank you.”

Owning a ship has been his dream since teenage years, and it became a reality thanks to this dreamlike experience.

It also came with a gentle attachment.

”I should be the one to thank you,” Hilveld’s eyes shimmered like flickering lamplight, ”Thank you, Ade.”

The air was still for a moment, both harboring similar thoughts.

Fang Hong had already forgotten the tasks at hand, with a slight blush on his face.

Hilveld watched him with amusement, this big young man from the Otherworld.

The cultures of the two worlds differ; noble maidens are poised in courtship, while young men are bold and passionate.

But she was used to those sugary words, which didn’t stir her heart, unlike this subtle and silent confession that warmed her immensely.

She smiled and took the initiative to break the silence:

”If Lord Captain is bored, how about telling me about Alchemy? After all, I am the granddaughter of an Alchemist.”

Fang Hong nodded.

These days, he has been studying the Alchemy Formula.

He stood up, resolved to set aside his work for now since he was already distracted.

He looked at Hilveld, ”I plan to go downstairs and take a look, we can talk as we walk.”

Hilveld nodded.

Regarding adventures, there are no secrets among everyone on the ship.

He has had some findings from researching the Alchemy Formula these days, and he intended to share them with others eventually, but since Hilveld asked, it’s fine to tell her in advance.

The two of them pushed open the door to the lower deck and went down.

The passageway of the crew’s living quarters on the Seven Seas Traveler has two stairways leading to the lower cabins—one at the ship’s bow and another by the chart room.

Since everyone had gone to the deck, it was empty here at this moment.

The two of them entered the Air Combat Deck, with no lights ahead, a pitch-black area.

Only the crystal indicator lights on the information device blinked in the dark.

It was here that Fang Hong finished talking about the Alchemy Formula.

”So,” Hilveld lightly asked, ”it’s something similar to a Closed Loop Device.”

”Something like that, though far more complex. That Alchemy Array can even realize stacking.”

In the darkness, Hilveld remained silent.

Yet her eyes held a faint light. Though not an Alchemist, that didn’t mean she didn’t understand. On the contrary, born into an alchemical family, she knew more of this peculiar world than ordinary people through her experiences.

Recording the margin information can stack, which means a Flexible Construct can operate independently of the Combat Artisan.

How long they can operate depends on how much margin information has been recorded.

Fang Hong walked over to the flower pot hanging on a beam by Xiesta and turned on the crystal lamp there.

The bright light fell on his face.

Hilveld asked, ”Is this the principle behind the Construct’s self-operation?”

”Most likely, if the recorded margin information is sufficient.”

Fang Hong continued, ”Remember the Beast Chess games we played at Teacher Ande’s place?”

Hilveld nodded.

”In the virtual Beast Chess, there are many similar operations; there as long as your calculative power is enough, you can simulate enough moves—

You can let your Construct anticipate the enemy’s movements and respond accordingly.”

”But what’s the practical significance in real combat?” Fang Hong posed this question to himself.

The significance of the Fire Giant lies in allowing the Combat Artisan to block the intense ether shockwave caused by explosions, thus mitigating its influence on the operator.

But for general Flexible Constructs, issuing commands still requires the operator to split their attention and still occupies the system’s calculative power—

”I suppose Lord Captain already has a solution.” Hilveld said with a smile.
