Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1401 - 699: The Extravagant Alien Invader Leader (Part 2)

The mimicry arms of the alien invaders and the branches of the moving plant engaged in a fierce battle, until finally, the hand grasped the fruit and pulled hard.

”Screech—”

Xu Xin and Xu Ying clearly heard a scream coming from the plant.

”Yikes... this plant can actually scream...” Xu Ying showed a look of disdain.

Can a plant that moves and screams when its fruit is plucked still be called a plant?

Xu Xin also marveled in his heart.

The things within this World Tree truly broaden one’s horizons.

It was such a stark contrast to the other barren World Tree he had visited before.

The alien invader who plucked the fruit didn’t eat it but placed it in a basket carried by another tentacle and continued onward.

”Is this what a higher-level alien invader looks like... does that mean Sister Gui Xin previously killed one of the top-tier alien invaders?”

Looking at the alien invaders before them, which seemed to have no sense of crisis, Xu Ying felt a bit restless.

”Should we also try to take them on and...”

Based on what they’d seen and heard along the way, the two speculated that these smooth-skinned alien invaders were the noble lineage among alien invaders.

They weren’t just noble in blood, but their abilities were also very strong.

The alien invaders they encountered generally fell into three categories.

Alien invaders covered with bumps, alien invaders with tentacles all over, and these, which look very smooth on the outside.

The first kind, the alien invaders covered with bumps, Xu Xin had seen in two places.

One was outside this area, in the factory they had destroyed, where these bumpy alien invaders worked alone; another was further inside another World Tree, at the very edge of the ”marketplace” area, where they acted as vendors.

It seems like those bump-covered alien invaders held the lowest status among the alien invaders. They had to even set up their stall at the outermost edge.

The second kind, the alien invaders covered in tentacles, were those Xu Xin saw most often in another World Tree.

Among the alien invaders allowed into another World Tree to set up stalls, the tentacle-covered invaders were the most numerous.

So, these tentacle monsters should be the middle class of alien invaders.

The third kind, the smooth-skinned alien invaders they encountered within this World Tree, were the noble lineage, the highest class of alien invaders.

This was the alien invaders’ three-tier hierarchy as deduced by Xu Xin and Xu Ying.

As for why these tiers formed, the two believed it was probably based on the alien invaders’ ability to control their bodies.

The alien invaders covered in bumps, also the lowest tier, mostly couldn’t control their bodies flexibly.

The tentacle-equipped alien invaders could manage to control their tentacles flexibly, but only the tentacles.

The smooth-skinned alien invaders, on the other hand, could freely shapeshift, transforming into any form at will.

This type of alien invader naturally was the strongest. Naturally, they were also the most noble.

”Don’t complicate things.”

Xu Xin lightly tapped Xu Ying on the head.

”Don’t forget our mission. As long as we complete our mission, these pampered nobles are not to be feared; they will surely be the first to flee.”

These alien invaders, unaware that the war had reached their doorstep, leisurely picked fruits in the ”park,” were not worth Xu Xin and Xu Ying’s time.

”You’re right. Let’s continue then.”

Xu Ying looked at the two fluffy ears peeking out from Xu Xin’s arms.

”Keke, are we going to go through this ’park’?”

”Eek!”

Keke, who previously only showed two ears, poked half a head and a small paw from Xu Xin’s embrace, pointing to the depths of the park, ”Eek!”

”Let’s go.” Xu Xin continued forward along this path.

”Sigh, I hope there’s something good over there.” Xu Ying’s gaze dimmed slightly, following behind Xu Xin.

”I told you already, there probably isn’t anything inside this World Tree.” Xu Xin shook his head.

Then he looked ahead.

Patches of dark red bizarre plant forms of varying heights obstructed most of the view, making it hard for him to see what’s ahead clearly.

The two were already deep in the ”park,” surrounded on all sides by pulsating plants.

They walked carefully, trying not to touch the surrounding pulsating ”vegetation,” fearing the plants would extend their branches to attack them.

”Let’s act quickly,” Xu Xin slightly quickened his pace.

His heart was always in suspense: ”I’m somewhat worried about the situation below. Others could probably manage, but Wenxi has no combat ability...”

”Um... so, should we go outside to take a look in a bit?” Xu Ying probed, ”We haven’t even spent an hour here yet.”

”Outside, you say...” Xu Xin also checked the time.

There were still nearly five hours before Ji Chaoyang’s predicted collapse.

Time was indeed ample.

”Let’s return first, check the situation below. If everything’s fine, we can go out and take a look.”
