Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1403 - 700: The Invaders’ Palace and Trap

The two walked into the scarlet corridor.

The scarlet light painted them red.

However, the scarlet light here was much weaker than the condensed scarlet crystal underground; even though the light came from all directions, it caused no discomfort to them.

”Ka...”

At this moment, a mechanical sound came from behind.

The massive door behind them was slowly closing automatically.

This was no big deal for Xu Xin and Xu Ying, as they could teleport out anytime they wished.

In the moment before the door closed, Xu Xin saw the alien invaders gathering outside through the gap.

There were at least nearly twenty of them.

But none of the alien invaders dared to come close, all keeping a distance of at least twenty meters from the door.

”Boom!”

Even when the door was completely closed, not a single alien invader came near.

Xu Xin turned back to look, ”Be careful. The fact that this door can be opened so easily, yet none daring to come close, suggests there might be extremely dangerous mechanisms inside.”

”Or maybe the alien leader’s fierce reputation has deeply instilled fear in them.”

Xu Ying glanced back, then lost interest, starting to look at the luxurious decorations around.

”If they dare come close, the leader might chase them out of the world tree. These pampered alien nobles can hardly endure Earth’s ’extremely harsh’ living conditions.”

She crouched down, inspecting the skirting line adorned with gold, silver, and jewels at the base of the wall, while saying.

Xu Xin nodded slightly.

That’s also a possibility.

”The alien invaders living in this world tree probably can’t go out casually either.”

He walked along the corridor, continuing.

”These alien invaders don’t even know what’s happening outside, they’re almost entirely isolated from the outside. Moreover, the way we entered this world tree practically confirms it.”

How did they enter the world tree?

Wen Guixin controlled the world tree’s guard, who then brought them in.

The guard corroded the tree trunk using a special method, creating a passage that could rapidly heal itself, guiding Xu Ying and Wen Guixin in.

How difficult this method of entry was.

Under normal circumstances, it’s impossible to erode a passage through the world tree’s trunk.

Because of the world tree’s powerful self-healing ability, even the most powerful weapons cannot inflict any damage on it, the guard must have used some special technique to slow the tree’s healing.

But even so, the passage could only be maintained for about five meters, before self-sealing again behind them.

Other ”Think about it, completely isolated from the outside, such strict precautions, and not allowed to go out freely, yet the alien invaders here remain so relaxed and innocent, and we haven’t seen any weapons along the way here...”

”Isn’t this just like an emperor’s harem?” The alien invaders trying to get in or out this way, it surely wouldn’t work.

So, the alien invaders inside this world tree...

are probably not allowed to leave privately.

And now, with the alien leader leading the army out, not here, they naturally have severed contact with the outside.

Xu Ying stood up from her crouched position, glanced at the tightly closed door, then gave a somewhat playful smile, ”Brother, do you think this might be the alien leader’s harem?”

Xu Xin was taken aback.

”A harem?”

”Yeah.”

Xu Ying touched her lips, smiling, ”Think about it, completely isolated from the outside, such strict precautions, and not allowed to go out freely, yet the alien invaders here remain so relaxed, and we haven’t seen any weapons along the way here...”

”Isn’t this just like an emperor’s harem?”

She glanced around the corridor, ”This place is so luxurious and opulent, it clearly resembles the emperor’s palace, doesn’t it? This whole world tree seems to be the ’emperor’s’ palace.”

This speculation is indeed...

somewhat reasonable.

The atmosphere here indeed has that sort of feeling.

”Then those alien invaders we encountered earlier...”

”Are probably the leader’s ’concubines’, right?” Xu Ying glanced at the tightly shut door behind them, ”They dare not come in, perhaps because their ’emperor’ forbids them.”

Good heavens.

Could it really be because of this?

”There’s a question, if this is where the leader resides, then why did the door we entered through seem like it hadn’t been opened in a long time?”

Xu Xin expressed his doubt.

”Because it doesn’t live here, probably.”

Xu Ying moved forward.

”This is likely a luxurious palace the ’leader’ specifically created for itself, although I don’t know what lies here, I believe it wouldn’t allow its ’concubines’ to enter. After all, the whole place is built with scarlet crystal.”

”So, this isn’t its residence, but rather a... treasure vault it built?” Xu Xin stroked his chin and said.

”Yes, that’s what I think.” Xu Ying nodded and pointed around, ”Even though that big door can be opened freely, none of those ’concubines’ outside dare to enter. Besides their ’emperor’ forbidding it, this corridor is likely very dangerous too.”
