Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1432 - 709: Mechanical Ocean and Scorching Heatwave (Part 2)

Getting hotter and hotter.

Soon, the three of them saw a reddish light source ahead.

It wasn’t the red of crimson crystals, but a dark red that metal turns after being heated to a high temperature and then gradually cooling down.

After taking dozens of steps, their view unexpectedly widened.

”Is this... the power system of the giant ship?” Li Wenxi widened her eyes.

”Wow... it’s so big, both large and complex,” Xu Ying was also incredibly surprised.

”As expected, don’t forget how massive this giant ship is,” remarked Xu Xin.

In front of them was an incomparably colossal and intricate mechanical ocean.

The entire area seemed endless to the eye, as their view was obstructed by a dense array of mechanical pipes, air pumps, and other equipment.

There was no path here, just an ocean of machinery.

Continuing forward, every direction, whether above or below, was filled with various mechanical devices.

Simultaneously, the most eye-catching was a gigantic mechanical apparatus resembling a heart.

This huge device loomed above the three of them, casting the space in a scorching red glow from the dark red of cooling metal.

The device was positioned above in this area, and only by looking up could Xu Xin and the others see it.

The metallic engine-like cylinder was at least thirty to forty meters in length and width.

Almost... the size of a ten-story building.

Such a gigantic mechanical structure was suspended in front and above Xu Xin and the others.

”Is this... an engine?” Li Wenxi exclaimed in shock, ”So big... but when compared to the giant ship, it doesn’t seem very large...”

Of course, for a giant ship that’s two kilometers long and several hundred meters high, a building-sized object isn’t very big.

At that moment, the heart-like metallic cylinder suddenly shot out a gas from an upper air outlet.

The metal panels above were instantly burned red-hot!

The entire space was filled with an extremely intense burnt metallic odor!

In an instant, the heat wave enveloped the three of them.

”So hot!”

”Ah!!”

”Hiss—”

”Yi yi yi!”

While the heat wave surged fifty meters above Xu Xin and the others, spraying toward the upper metal wall,

the heat wave that reached them was still incredibly scorching!

The temperature was at least seventy to eighty degrees Celsius!

Fortunately, the three were not ordinary people, and the seventy to eighty degrees lasted only a second, so they weren’t scalded.

”What... what is this!” Li Wenxi exclaimed anxiously, pressing her palm to her red-hot face to cool it down, ”The temperature is so high even at this distance; the temperature of the gas expelled up there must be at least a thousand degrees, right?”

”Probably more,” Xu Ying said, rubbing her face while vigilantly looking at the building-sized metal device above, ”It might be thousands of degrees; if the metal walls are iron, they might just melt away!”

The melting point of iron is 1538 degrees Celsius, the boiling point 2750 degrees Celsius.

This gas’s temperature might exceed 3000 degrees...

If those walls being directly sprayed were iron, they’d not only melt but possibly turn into gaseous iron...

And this engine-like device didn’t seem to be running but was cooling down.

Because all the surrounding pipes, gears, etc., were stationary.

It’s hard to imagine how hot it would be if it were operating at full power...

At that moment, another wave of heat surged from the top of the metallic cylinder!

And this time, the temperature seemed even higher!

”Brother! Get the cooling device out, quick!” Xu Ying shouted, clutching her face.

At this point, Xu Xin was already manipulating his wristband.

Soon, the small mechanical device, about the size of a table, that Xu Xin had stored in his wristband, appeared on the ground in front of them.

Instantly, Xu Xin and the others felt an unparalleled sense of refreshment.

The temperature dropped rapidly.

But the next second, the scorching gas descended upon them.

They instantly experienced what it means to be caught between extremes.

Both cold and hot.

On one side, a small device absorbing heat frantically at below minus one hundred degrees.

On the other, scorching gas over eighty degrees Celsius.

This feeling... was extremely intense.

Similar to feeling hot under a blanket but cold when a leg is out.

But a hundred times more exaggerated!

However, the gas wave, separated by fifty meters, and with most heat seemingly absorbed by the metal ceiling above,

didn’t overpower the heat-absorbing device.

Finally, the temperature around Xu Xin and the others sharply dropped.

Yet the heat waves continued to transmit heat outside in bursts, so the heat-absorbing device lowered the surroundings to below zero only a few meters around it, but further away, the temperature would sharply increase.

Taking a few steps away, the temperature would climb back to forty or fifty degrees.

”Ugh... finally comfortable,” Xu Ying sighed in relief, wiping her forehead.

Because they were so close to the cooling device, the temperature dropped below zero, causing the sweat on her forehead to freeze.

Li Wenxi even took a step outside to find a relatively suitable temperature spot and then sighed in relief: ”Phew, this temperature is terrifying...”

”It shouldn’t have been this terrifying here initially,” Xu Ying looked up towards where the giant mechanical heart spewed heat.

”Oh? Could it be...” Xu Xin’s heart stirred.

”Yes. Originally where the heat was being expelled from above, this small device should have been placed there.”
