Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 181: Chapter 172 Alchemy and Functional Area

[Unlocking failed, attempting the seventh unlock...]

His creator permissions are finally coming back! Could it be a combat-based ability?

[Unlock failed, partial creator permissions granted: Alchemy]

Alchemy?

Sounds advanced. Is it similar to Qi Xuefei’s ”King of Medicine” ability?

He slid open his smartwatch and found a new option called ”Alchemy” added to all the main options.

He immediately clicked it open.

The page was simple, with only a line of small text and a crafting project.

[Ability: Can discover alchemy materials within a 500-meter radius.]

[Alchemy Synthesizing Platform (Blue): Can be used to synthesize and craft alchemy materials and finished products. Requires Stone (Green) *90, Stone (Blue) *10, Iron Block (Blue) *5]

A new synthesizing platform, wonder what it can make.

Can he now discover alchemy materials within a 500-meter radius?

Focusing his gaze, he suddenly realized that besides the white, green, blue, and purple lights of his identification ability, a new yellow light appeared in his vision. This light, unlike the identification ability’s light, wasn’t blocked by objects.

He looked out the window, and that patch of yellow light was not far from the treehouse, likely buried underground.

Is that an alchemy material?

He needed to make this synthesizing platform first to see what alchemy materials are available and what alchemy can do.

But he didn’t have enough blue-grade stone and iron blocks on hand. He needed to ask Li Wenxi for them; she definitely had some.

Forget it, no rush, the ability won’t disappear, let’s first see the abilities of the upgraded treehouse.

He’s more curious about what the decoration score is used for.

After searching the page for a while, Xu Xin found a new sub-option appeared under ”Decoration Score,” in addition to the original ”Artist”: ”Function Area.”

After clicking in, there was a line of small text at the top: [Current Decoration Score: 176.4, Total Allocable Increase: 176%]

Total increase? What does this mean? It needs allocating?

Xu Xin continued to look down and discovered several crafting projects.

Dining Room Plaque, Bedroom Plaque, Kitchen Plaque...

”Plaque?” Xu Xin was a bit puzzled and immediately checked the descriptions of these plaques.

[Dining Room Plaque (Green): Needs to be placed in an enclosed space within the treehouse, designating this space as a dining room, improving the functional effect of food when eating. Requires Log (Green) *5, Wood (Green) *5]

”This...” Xu Xin’s eyes gradually widened, and he continued to look down.

[Bedroom Plaque (Green): Needs to be placed in an enclosed space within the treehouse, designating this space as a bedroom, improving the efficiency of energy recovery during sleep. Requires Log (Green) *5, Wood (Green) *5]

After only viewing the introductions of two plaques, Xu Xin understood the role of this ”Function Area.”

This was actually about assigning fixed attributes to rooms and enhancing effects, turning the dining room into a real dining room, and the bedroom into a dedicated sleeping area!

The types of these plaques are very comprehensive and especially detailed.

Besides Dining Room Plaque and Bedroom Plaque, there are also Kitchen Plaque, Planting House Plaque, Smelting Room Plaque, Workshop Plaque, Art Room Plaque, and even an Alchemy Room Plaque related to the alchemy he just acquired!

The Kitchen Plaque increases cooking speed and the effect of the food produced.

The Planting House Plaque can improve the growth speed of plants.

The Smelting Room Plaque increases the smelting speed of furnaces and occasionally reduces material consumption.

The Workshop Plaque increases crafting success rates and also occasionally reduces material consumption.

The Art Room Plaque enhances the speed of sculpting, painting, and other arts.

A series of plaques all represent various functional areas with different attributes.

To verify the function of these plaques, he immediately crafted a Bedroom Plaque.

The plaque was the size of a nameplate, with a picture of a bed drawn on it, and below the picture was a line of small text.

Increase amplitude: 0%

Xu Xin hung this plaque on the wall.

[Detected the presence of a Bedroom Plaque in the room, designate this room as a bedroom? It cannot be changed within seven days after designation, please choose carefully.]

Xu Xin directly chose yes. This room was already a bedroom, no need to change anything.

Ding!

[This room has been designated as a bedroom, allocate increase amplitude? The allocation cannot be canceled, please choose carefully.]

[Current Total Allocable Increase: 176%]

Allocation cannot be canceled? Xu Xin frowned, tentatively allocating 1%.

The text on the plaque immediately changed from the original 0% to 1%.

Xu Xin didn’t feel any sensory change, after all, 1% was too little, and he wasn’t sleeping.

The small text at the top of the ”Function Area” interface also changed.

[Current Decoration Score: 176.4, Total Allocable Increase: 175%]

Xu Xin continued to touch the ”Bedroom Plaque,” discovering that he could only increase further, not decrease. Once this 1% was added to the plaque, it was fixed.

He tried to remove the plaque but got a prompt saying it could only be retrieved after seven days.

Xu Xin pondered for a moment and understood everything. The percentage increase brought by the decoration score is not a total increase but needs to be allocated to each plaque and every function area.

Similar to game attribute points, there is only so much in total that can be distributed across various attributes.

Simply put, if he allocates this entire 176% to the bedroom, then other functional areas would have no boost unless he continues to increase the decoration score to obtain more increase points to add to other function areas.

This feature is extremely useful! Not only for him but a qualitative change for all survivors!

While ordinary survivors may have lower decoration scores, they can add the allocable increase entirely to one function, focusing on ”point allocation”!

For example, if someone likes planting, they can transform the treehouse into a planting house, adding all the increase to the planting area so that the plants they grow in the treehouse will grow much faster than those of other survivors.

If it’s all added to the kitchen, the food produced there will have much stronger effects than food made by others.

This is equivalent to bestowing some attribute points on the treehouse! Before the upgrade, the treehouse without point allocation was equivalent to an ordinary room, with no functional inclination. Now, with these ”attribute points,” survivors can choose the development direction of their treehouse!

Xu Xin’s treehouse is large, with a bedroom, dining room, kitchen, planting house, and workshop. Plus, his decoration score is high, so he has a broad range of options.NovelFire

Should he mainly focus on one, or should he distribute them relatively evenly?

Forget it, don’t consider this for now. His hearing has enhanced now, and there’s a multitude of sounds in his head, overwhelming and hard to concentrate.

Let’s discuss this matter with everyone in the ”Explorers” group later, it would be best if everyone in the organization has their own assignments.

First, let me claim the leaderboard rewards.

He opened the ”Leaderboard,” and the ranking of the new event ”Treehouse Defense Battle” appeared. Unsurprisingly, he was still on the list.

[This is a special leaderboard; the ranking order is random with uniform rewards.]

It was still a mixed-area leaderboard. Although the ranking order was random, his name was prominently at the top of the list, marked with [Jungle Area 188].

This list had more people than last time, with over five hundred individuals. Xu Xin glanced from top to bottom, and Jungle Area 188 had him, Wen Guixin, Ji Chaoyang, and Wang Lei.

It seems the people on the list must have resolved the mutant plant heart.

Xu Xin clicked the button to claim the reward on the page.

[Reward received: Decoration Score Increase. Survivors with this reward can increase their decoration score by 20% based on the original.]

Whoa!

If he had known about the decoration score effect earlier, he wouldn’t have thought much of this reward; but now it seems, paired with the new ”Function Area” feature of decoration score, it equates to an extra 20% increase!

The decoration score value jumped instantly.

[Current Decoration Score: 211.68 (176.4+35.28), Total Allocable Increase: 210%]

Nearly thirty-five points of decoration score were added instantly, and this benefit isn’t only immediate but extends to all future statues and paintings he makes. As long as they are used for himself, they equate to an added 20% ornament.

These are more or less all the new features after this treehouse upgrade.

In conclusion, this time the treehouse upgrade has greatly enhanced its capabilities and functions!

Not only has the external protection range expanded by three kilometers, improving defense capabilities, but the internal functions have also been strengthened, allowing for ”point allocation.”

Compared to the pre-upgrade treehouse, it is unknown how many times stronger it is now!
