Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 164: Chapter 159 Red Mist Flower_2

Beside him, the blood patterns on Silver King and Mimi emitted a brighter red light than before, even Afu’s blood patterns began to glow faintly.

The three beasts showed expressions of enjoyment. Their abilities were enhanced by the Red Mist.

Xu Xin suddenly had a bold idea.

After traversing the Red Mist last night, not only did Silver King and Mimi experience no negative aftereffects, but they even upgraded directly today. This indicated that the Red Mist was actually a very beneficial resource for mutant beasts!

The radiation stone that could enhance the power of mutant beasts had cracked and lost its effect, turning into an ordinary stone. He needed other means to increase the strength of Silver King and the others.

And now, the flower capable of producing Red Mist was right in front of him.

Could he cultivate it? Build a small room, plant these flowers inside, and let Silver King and the others occasionally enter as if enjoying a sauna of Red Mist...

As he pondered, the pistil of another flower moved, releasing another puff of Red Mist.

This scene reminded Xu Xin of a sunflower from a game, producing sunlight at intervals, while this flower sprayed out a puff of Red Mist periodically.

Xu Xin tentatively took a step forward.

”Ying!” Keke got anxious seeing Xu Xin move forward. It could clearly sense danger from the pistil! After waving its little claws for a while, it finally made Xu Xin understand its intention.

”There’s danger in the pistil...” Xu Xin squinted his eyes.

The flower itself wasn’t dangerous; it was the pistil that was risky. What could reside inside a flower’s pistil?

Could it be...

Xu Xin held a crossbow in one hand, using his other hand to wield his three-meter-long spear. He gently poked the pistil of the nearest flower, keeping a safe distance of three meters.

”Buzz...” A sound of wings flapping echoed from the pistil, sending a shiver down Xu Xin’s spine.

...Indeed, there were flying insects inside the pistil!

Moreover, they were certainly aggressive insects, otherwise, they wouldn’t have triggered Keke’s alertness!

Fortunately, the insects didn’t fly out at Xu Xin’s touch, merely producing that sound before quieting down.

”You guys, retreat, I’m going to bomb them,” Xu Xin abandoned his previous thought, giving a solemn order to the four beasts.

If the aggressive mosquitoes existed in considerable numbers, even Silver King and Mimi might not escape unscathed. Just like an elephant is powerless against a mouse entering its nose, small size can sometimes be advantageous.

Better to nip the danger in the bud.

The flowers grouped closely together, so a single explosive arrow could destroy them all.

If one wasn’t enough, then two it is.

Suddenly, the pistil of a flower shook, and Xu Xin, using his Spiritual Power, could clearly see over a dozen flying insects with blood-red eyes and spiked mouths sticking half their bodies out from the pistil, each as big as southern cockroaches, their bodies covered with delicate blood-colored patterns.

They seemed to have spotted Xu Xin and his team, flapping their wings, ready to fly out immediately.

”Cover your ears!” Xu Xin warned the four beasts, without hesitating, he pulled the trigger.

”Boom!”

The explosive arrow detonated on the three flowers, the massive explosion reverberated in the confined space, rendering him temporarily deaf.

But his eyes were undamaged by the explosion’s flash, capturing clearly the moment the insects attempted to fly out at the explosion, only to be torn to shreds by the force.

Effective!

Xu Xin kept his actions seamless, reloading and firing again!

”Boom!” ”Boom!”

Two more blasts shook the entire cave, causing countless fragments of earth and stone to fall from above, slightly dazing Xu Xin.

Fortunately, his increased Spiritual Power from Orange and Strawberry mitigated any dizziness, allowing him to quickly recover his peak mental state.

...Hoping the exit wouldn’t collapse. Xu Xin thought while rubbing his temporarily deaf ears.

The power of those three explosive arrows was enormous, scattering blood-red shredded petals everywhere, with charred petals and insect corpses covering the ground, none of the insects in the flower pistils survived the explosion.

”Explosive arrows are truly useful.” Xu Xin turned his head, Keke on his shoulder was covering its ears shaking its head. He flicked Keke’s small head gently, ”How is it, is it still dangerous now?”

Keke raised its head blankly, looking at the devastated plants, dazed for two seconds, then shook its head: ”Ying.”

The three beasts behind were also covering their ears, lying on the ground. Especially Afu, with its acute hearing, found this loud explosion unbearable, Xu Xin could even see a resentful expression on its bat-like face.

”Ahaha, take a rest you guys, I’ll go check out those flowers.”

He calmed the beasts, moving forward to examine the three large flowers blown to mere stubs of stems and leaves.

All blasted apart, somewhat regrettable.

Wait a moment, the roots weren’t blasted, seem to be still viable...

Xu Xin took out a shovel, aiming at the root of the half-plant, digging down.

[Obtained Red Mist Flower Seed *3]

As expected, they could still yield seeds!

Xu Xin held the three grape-sized red seeds in his hand, observing them.

[Red Mist Flower Seed: When planted in fertile soil or higher-grade soil, it can grow into a flower releasing Red Mist. This is a plant with mysterious powers!]

Indeed, this plant wasn’t a mutant lifeform, but a special cultivable plant!

After this mission ends, this flower will be planted in an enclosed small room, creating a sauna room for Silver King and the others!

However, it can only grow in blue-grade or higher-grade soil, how delicate is this?

Xu Xin had never encountered soil above blue-grade. Without this description, he would have thought blue-grade soil was the highest tier available.

He looked at the soil below this Red Mist Flower, glowing blue, indicating its fertility. This was the only patch of fertile soil in the entire space, explaining why the three flowers were all clustered together.

Excavating the soil, taking a glance around to ensure nothing else was of interest, Xu Xin decided to exit the cave and search the other two caves.

Calling the four beasts, Xu Xin walked out while sending a message via [Explorer], informing them of the situation in his cave.

Then Wang Lei immediately responded.

”Brother Xin, you’re too late!! I’m being chased by those bugs! The armor doesn’t cover the face ah ah! It hurts so bad ah ah ah ah!”

This...

Xu Xin was at a loss for words, amazed this guy could respond during his escape.
