Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 152: Chapter 151: All About Points and Materials

Xu Xin made a wooden barrel and taught them hand-in-hand how to collect the sap.

The Silver King picked up the vine, and Mimi used her claws to slash a slit on the vine, letting the vine sap flow into the barrel.

The Silver King obediently picked up the vine, aiming it at the wooden barrel.

Mimi, though reluctant, did not say anything, simply slashed vertically on the vine with her claw. But the look she gave Xu Xin felt slightly disdainful, as if saying, ”How could the elegant leopard be made to do such rough work.”

Seeing the two beasts at work, Xu Xin nodded with satisfaction.

”Whimper?” Keke pointed at herself with her little paw, indicating what she should do.

”You, you and Afu cheer them on from the side!” Xu Xin vigorously patted Keke’s head and then turned to leave the treehouse.

Suspended in mid-air by the roots, he watched as the vines constantly attacked the trunk, as if seeing stems of points and bomb raw materials.

Using the same old tricks, Xu Xin continued to aim the crossbow at the base of the vines and shoot.

These Blood Patterned Vines can’t attack Xu Xin from over five meters away. The roots can’t move, so they obediently stick their necks out for slaughter.

The vines fell one by one under Xu Xin’s crossbow, crashing to the ground with a loud noise.

He used the same method to bring the dead vines up, while also attracting more vines to grow out of the ground.

The ground, filled with cracks and riddled with holes as the vines burst forth, didn’t mind since it was soil. It was as if these vines loosened the soil beneath Xu Xin’s treehouse.

He found that where vines had previously grown, there would no longer be further vine growth, likely because there were only a few vine seeds in this piece of soil, which had all sprouted and been cleared away by him.

That is to say, at least for now, these cleared positions are safe.

Xu Xin continued to lure out and kill batches of Blood Patterned Vines, and then sent them back to the treehouse for Silver King and Mimi to collect the mutated vine sap.

Quickly, he cleared an area of about a hundred square meters below the treehouse, gaining over a thousand points. Meanwhile, Silver King and Mimi’s efficiency was even higher than his. Each time he brought up the vines, the two beasts were already lying by the barrel, waiting for him after processing the previous batch.

In the end, he once again obtained a barrel weighing a hundred kilograms full of mutated vine sap.

By now the space under his treehouse was completely clear for a person to stand because he had removed all the vines from beneath the treehouse.

But care must still be taken.

Xu Xin inspected the soil, confirming that these vines were not drilling up from underground but were growing from seeds about thirty centimeters deep because the soil below thirty centimeters was intact, without any signs of penetration.

And previously outside the protection zone, the vines and the Blood Patterned Blood Thorn Vines in the Red Mist, they were definitely drilling up from deep underground. Those vines would gradually retract underground when they lost their target.

The Blood Patterned Vines under this treehouse might just be an appetizer in this treehouse defense battle.

He surrounded the treehouse with hundreds of shriveled vines extracted of sap, encircling the protection zone he cleared.

Though these vines had been hollowed out, some flammable sap still lingered. If mutant beasts attacked, he could ignite these vines to form a ring of fire around, preventing them from entering easily.

Certainly, there was still a distance from the outer forest, and coupled with the ground being soil and devoid of vegetation, even if ignited, it wouldn’t affect the forest. Otherwise causing a forest fire would be bad.

With everything ready, Xu Xin exhaled a long breath and returned to the third floor of the treehouse, curling directly into the sofa, pulling Keke nestled in the sofa into his arms for a hug.

”Whimper.” Keke whimpered once, shifting into a comfortable position in his arms to continue resting.

In the regional channel, everyone, unable to go out, was chatting idly.

”Are those vines still attacking? Don’t they get tired?”

”Although they haven’t damaged the armor all this time, it’s really noisy hearing that sound over and over...”

”Plus the treehouse keeps vibrating, like a thunderstorm before the rainy season, it’s simply torture.”

”Really miserable, luckily, I didn’t go out. By the way, aren’t you trying to attack them, like with bows and arrows?”

”Attack? As soon as I poke my head out a little, those vines keep drilling out, who dares go out to attack, the more you attack, the more they come!”

Most of them had low treehouses, too low, especially those survivors with only one-story treehouses, who didn’t even dare poke their heads out the window.

The vines attacking the treehouse trunk beneath couldn’t be reached through the window, to attack them you’d have to be suspended below the treehouse crown like Xu Xin or go directly outside, which would only lead to more vines.

They can’t do it like Xu Xin, slaughtering the vines using the disadvantage of being above five meters. Only survivors with at least two-story initial treehouses could use his method. Because the base of the crown of the initial two-story treehouse was seven meters high from the ground, and Xu Xin’s initial three-story treehouse was ten meters.

The nine people in the [Explorers] all had a minimum of initial two-story treehouses, so they should all be able to clean up beneath their treehouses like Xu Xin.

”Have you all gone out?” Xu Xin asked in the group.

Zhao Xiaochuan: ”No, neither of the two bosses let us go out, so I obediently stayed in the treehouse.”

Li Wenxi: ”This treehouse defense battle, should it really be this simple? Just staying indoors?”

Wang Lei: ”I went out once. Boss Ji said five meters above wouldn’t trigger them, I went down to have a look but accidentally went too low, drawing out the vines...”

Wen Guixin: ”Pfft, you’re too dumb. If they’re drawn out, just kill them. I’ve already cleared below!”

Wen Guixin’s words once again caught Xu Xin’s attention.

This Wen Guixin, during the hunting activities, nearly caught up in points with him and Ji Chaoyang, who could kill intermediate mutant beasts. It’s unexpected that this time too she quickly cleared the vines.

She’s really strong when it comes to slaying beastly monsters.

Zhao Xiaochuan: ”What? Cleaned up? You killed all the vines down there?”

Wen Guixin: ”Yeah, although there were many, each one was really weak. Killing them was easy!”

Qin Yunlong: ”I tried, but even breaking them doesn’t kill them. How did you do it?”

Wen Guixin: ”Hmm... I just jumped down directly. If you use my method, you’d either be dead or severely injured. You should ask Xu Xin and Ji Chaoyang for a better way.”

Qi Xuefei: ”No need to worry about injuries. I’ve cultivated a lot of blue-grade hemostatic herbs. As long as you don’t break a leg or arm, you’ll be fine.”

These days, Qi Xuefei has been selling hemostatic herbs and pills under the name ’Explorer.’ According to her, the second batch of the new blue-grade pills will soon be available, allowing everyone to stay mostly free from illness and injury.

Li Wenxi: ”But it’s really painful... I think I’ll pass on jumping.”

Ji Chaoyang hasn’t spoken; he should be out there trying like Xu Xin.

But Wen Guixin’s level of toughness is a bit insane, jumping down directly? Xu Xin simulated the process and outcomes of jumping in his mind, and shivered at the thought.

No way, he can’t do it.

These people really are skilled experts.

Xu Xin wasn’t stingy; he directly shared his method for killing the vines with them.

Qin Yunlong: ”So the vine’s weakness is at the roots, I should have thought of that. Shoot the roots with a crossbow...”

Wang Lei: ”An underhanded tactic to play with the vines! Trick the vines!”

Xu Xin: ”The vine’s sap is flammable, which can be used to make incendiary arrows or explosives, remember to collect some.”

Wen Guixin: ”?? That sticky sap is actually a resource? I already chopped them into pieces; I’m going down to gather some resources, see what’s left.”

Currently, there won’t be any more vines growing around Xu Xin’s treehouse, but he doesn’t plan to expand further.

He hasn’t even had breakfast yet. After all this activity, he’s hungry, and Mimi and Silver King can’t work without eating either.

Even though others had no food, he did; he had a whole ice cellar full of mutant beast meat, seven to eight thousand kilograms, enough for those two food lovers to indulge in for a while.

Xu Xin took out the meat, thawed it in the kitchen, and divided it between Silver King Mimi and Afu.

The three mutant beasts seemed to be more interested in mutant beast meat than ordinary beast meat.

Keke continued to follow Xu Xin, munching on stir-fried dishes and grilled meat.

After taking the last bite of meat, even though the taste was incredibly delicious and warmth coursed through his body, he still felt a bit unsatisfied.

”Wonder when we’ll have staple foods like rice or wheat...” Although Xu Xin loves meat, eating it every meal as a staple is a bit overwhelming.

Humans are omnivores, not carnivores.

”Awooo—”

”Yip!” Silver King suddenly let out a long howl, startling Xu Xin, who was about to clear the dishes, and Keke, who was lying on the table clutching her belly.

Looking at Silver King, Xu Xin was delighted to find that Silver King and Mimi’s blood patterns were glowing with a faint red light, just like when they were in the Red Mist, with an eerily beautiful appearance.

”They’re evolving! Finally becoming mid-level mutant creatures!” Xu Xin stared intently at the two beasts.

Afu, who was eating with them, didn’t show any changes and flapped its wings back to the window.

Keke walked over to Silver King and Mimi, nudging them curiously, but Xu Xin grabbed her back: ”Don’t disturb them!”

”Yip...”

The red glow on the two beasts became more and more visible. Silver King couldn’t help but howl again, and even Mimi, usually not vocal, let out a roar.

Then, both beasts lay by the long cabinet with radiating stones and fell into a deep sleep.

...Sleeping again?

Although they fell asleep, the blood patterns on their bodies didn’t dim; they remained bright and occasionally flickered.

On the map, among the three green dots representing companions, Silver King and Mimi’s dots were flickering and getting brighter.

It seems that when they wake up, they will be two mid-level mutant beasts.

But...

Didn’t expect them to level up with the treehouse.

Now, with the treehouse’s protective ability reduced, he might face a massive invasion, and both of his main forces fell asleep; it’s quite awkward.

Xu Xin rubbed Keke’s fluffy big tail: ”Keke, now we can only rely on you to fend off the invasion, do your best.”

Keke tilted her little head: ”Yip?”
