Berserk God of War

Chapter 315: Chapter 315: Selfish Ghost

”Although Yu Yan comes from a wealthy, notable family, she’s not from the Long Night Imperial City; distant water can’t put out a nearby fire,”

Wen Hu already knew that Sikong Jing wanted to borrow Light Crystals to attend the Wanbao Pavilion auction.

But Yu Yan’s home was too far, and it was impossible for her to carry so much Ming King Crystal on her.

Three days was far from enough.

And Sikong Jing was also helpless. Currently, in the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace, the only people he was more familiar with were Master Wen Hu and Yu Yan.

As for Xu He and Ge Rong from the Da He Association, not to mention that he wasn’t very familiar with them, they all came from border regions and probably didn’t even possess four digits’ worth of Light Crystals—some might have never even seen a Ming King Crystal before.

However, Vice Palace Master Qin Heng certainly had them.

But he hasn’t returned yet, and according to Wen Hu, the fight was extremely fierce.

The experts from the two major academies were fighting farther and farther away, now deep within the Northern Mountain, and it was uncertain when the fight would end or even if Qin Heng could return alive.

Sikong Jing couldn’t find anyone to borrow Ming King Crystals from.

Across from him, Wen Hu suddenly said, ”In the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace, the richest and kindest student has to be Lang Yisuo from Golden Dragon Mountain. However, he seems to have no reason to lend you so many Ming King Crystals.”

Sikong Jing’s spirit was slightly shaken—Lang Yisuo seemed to be that Golden Dragon Mountain senior brother who had joined him in challenging the mountain path.

After bidding farewell to Wen Hu, Sikong Jing headed straight for the Golden Dragon Mountain Path.

He didn’t go to the Task Hall to exchange for points using Master Wang’s Token from Xingluo Palace right away. After all, even if he could accumulate ten million points, it wasn’t certain that someone would have both medicines.

So, he decided to see if he could secure the Ming King Crystal first.

Having challenged the Golden Dragon Mountain Path once, Sikong Jing, even without the Golden Dragon Token, would face no further obstacles and strode up the path.

Upon arriving at the mountain gate, he casually grabbed a student, ”Excuse me, where is Senior Brother Lang Yisuo?”

The Golden Dragon Mountain student looked Sikong Jing up and down and then scoffed, ”You’re looking for Lang Yisuo, that selfish wretch? Hehe, he’s probably hiding in his courtyard unwilling to meet with us now.”

”I advise you not to look for him, he won’t give you any guidance; that guy’s just trash.”

Having said that, the student still pointed Sikong Jing in the right direction.

Trash? Selfish wretch?

Doubt flickered in Sikong Jing’s eyes.

He followed the path indicated by the student and found the courtyard where Lang Yisuo lived within the Jinshan Dragon District.

In the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace, apprentices could only have one room, but official students could own their own courtyard.

Sikong Jing knocked lightly on the door and asked, ”Senior Brother Lang, are you home?”

After several knocks, the door suddenly sprang open to reveal a disheveled, hollow-eyed Lang Yisuo.

Before Sikong Jing could explain the purpose of his visit, Lang Yisuo bellowed, ”I am not a selfish wretch, I really don’t have anything to teach you all, why don’t you believe me?”

”Damn it, you heartless bunch, why won’t you believe me?”

”I have been so helpful to you all the time, but now you’re all cursing me, I... it’s you!”

In the end, Lang Yisuo suddenly realized who Sikong Jing was.

Then, he trembled all over, pointing at Sikong Jing with towering rage and exclaimed, ”I, I’ve been ruined because of you.”

With that, he lunged forward and viciously grabbed Sikong Jing by the collar.

”My good reputation, you’ve destroyed it, do you know that?”

”Ever since I joined the Holy Dragon Palace, I’ve been helping anyone I could, even giving them Light Crystals for free, just for the prosperity of the Jinshan Dragon District.”

”Originally, everyone loved and liked me so much.”

”Now? It’s all fucking ruined.”

”I just can’t fucking understand, I helped them so much, why are they treating me like this now?”

”Just because I couldn’t help this one time, they call me a selfish bastard and give me the cold shoulder.”

At this point, Senior Brother Lang nearly burst into tears.

It was only then that Sikong Jing realized that it was because of him taking Senior Brother Lang to successfully challenge the Golden Dragon Mountain Path, helping him break through two Great Realms, that he was cursed by others and ostracized by all the Golden Dragon Mountain students.

Because everyone believed that he had the powerful method and experience to break through but was unwilling to share it.

At this, Sikong Jing couldn’t help but fall silent.

Then he slowly began to speak, ”Senior Brother Lang, I can only say that you always do good deeds, but the moment you do something bad or stop helping others, you become the bad guy.”

”But don’t be too sad, among the masses, there will always be one or two people who believe in you, who genuinely care for you.”

”Having such confidants is enough; why bother about the others?”

Clearly, Senior Brother Lang still couldn’t let it go.

After another silence, Sikong Jing suddenly took out two jars of wine, smiling and said, ”Drink until you forget.”

Seeing this, Senior Brother Lang snatched the wine fiercely and then gulped it down in large swigs.

Sikong Jing then pushed him into the courtyard, joining him in his heavy drinking, listening to Senior Brother Lang constantly pouring out his grievances.

And Sikong Jing just listened, unable to offer consolation.

A personality like Senior Brother Lang’s wasn’t something that could change overnight. What he really needed was a friend to see him through thick and thin, a confidant who would go to all lengths for him.

Sikong Jing didn’t think too much of it, feeling somewhat apologetic to Senior Brother Lang in his heart, after all, this situation was caused by him.

As time slowly passed, the next day came in the blink of an eye.

After a long sleep, Senior Brother Lang finally sobered up from his drunk state.

He stepped out of the room and saw Sikong Jing practicing in the courtyard, then approached and said, ”Junior Brother, thank you for joining me for a drink. I feel much better. Can you now explain to everyone about the Golden Dragon Mountain Path?”

Upon hearing this, Sikong Jing stopped his cultivation and shook his head, ”No!”

”Huh?”

Senior Brother Lang’s mouth twitched repeatedly, a bitter taste in his mouth. How could his junior brother be so cold-hearted?

If he simply explained, everyone would understand him.

”Senior Brother Lang, do you think that if I told them, anyone would believe it? I am just a Level 1 Apprentice, and I really hate ingrates,” Sikong Jing replied with a shrug of his shoulders.

Senior Brother Lang, with his mouth wide open, didn’t know what to do. Indeed, even if it were explained, no one would believe it.

But the feeling of being cursed was truly unbearable.

At this moment, Sikong Jing suddenly changed the subject, ”By the way, Senior Brother Lang, are you interested in challenging another mountain path with me?”

In an instant, Senior Brother Lang was stunned. Challenge another mountain path again?

Bang!

Just as Senior Brother Lang was hesitating, the courtyard door was suddenly kicked open with a loud bang.

A few men and women wearing golden robes just barged in nonchalantly, with the leader saying, ”Yisuo, we’re short on cash lately, lend me a few tens of thousands of Ming King Crystals to play with, will you?”

As soon as he finished speaking, Senior Brother Lang’s face darkened as he replied, ”Yan Hedan, it’s not like I owe you.”

He may be a good-natured person, but he wasn’t a fool.

Upon hearing this, the man named Yan Hedan pointed at him tremblingly, with an exaggerated expression, ”Senior Brother Lang, everyone says you’re a selfish person and I didn’t believe it at first, but now I do. You really are trash.”
