Berserk God of War

Chapter 309: Chapter 309: Apologize, Impossible

The Ning Family Old Matriarch narrowed her eyes and sighed softly, ”All members of the Qian Family, please rise. As one of the Six Great Families of the Imperial City, my Ning Family will certainly not allow the families who depend on us to suffer injustice.”

Her voice was old but resounded with power!

Suddenly, the Ning Family Old Matriarch commanded sternly, ”Bring Ning Jingjing out to me.”

Soon, Ning Jingjing, dressed in a red skirt, was escorted out by two of the Ning Family’s female experts.

Her face was expressionless, her eyes firm and cold.

”Return my son’s life, Ning Jingjing!” All of a sudden, a middle-aged woman screamed and lunged to attack her.

However, she was immediately held back, and Qian Yinzhong quickly shouted, ”Jingsui’s mother, the Ning Family Old Matriarch has already promised us justice. What more do you want? Kneel down!”

After saying this, he looked back at the Ning Family Old Matriarch with eyes full of intense longing.

Inside the Ning Family, some looked at Ning Jingjing with mockery, while others clenched their fists tightly, seething with anger.

The mockers, of course, were those who found the young lady Ning Jingjing displeasing, while those who were angered either stood by Ning Jingjing’s side, or were dissatisfied with the current actions of the Qian Family, which was clearly an act of... forcing the palace!

If the Ning Family did not increase the punishment for Ning Jingjing, they would not be able to satisfy the masses.

In fact, the Ning Family had internally already decided on how to deal with Ning Jingjing, just as her father had conveyed to Elder Wei in the letter: three hundred strokes of the cane plus an apology.

And this decision of punishment was simply not yet publicly disclosed.

At this moment, the Ning Family Old Matriarch still showed no emotion, and said to Qian Yinzhong, ”You claim that Ning Jingjing killed Qian Jingsui, do you have proof? As far as I know, it was a Holy Dragon Knight of the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace who should be responsible for the murder.”

Qian Jingsui died more than twenty days ago, known to be the doing of a Thunder Wing Dragon Snake Knight; yet now it was claimed that Ning Jingjing was the killer.

This was also the point of confusion for many of the onlookers.

Just then, Qian Yinzhong suddenly produced a mirror and spoke softly, ”This is the Soul Returning Mirror that I borrowed from the Long Night Heavenly Dao Palace using points, please take a look, Ning Family Old Matriarch.”

After he spoke, a light flashed on the mirror, and then it showed the moment Ning Jingjing killed Qian Jingsui in the Qianbei Building.

It was just this scene; Sikong Jing did not appear in the mirror because too much time had passed.

But it was enough to prove that Qian Jingsui was indeed killed by Ning Jingjing.

Everyone present was astonished, even those who were somewhat skeptical now completely believed, but why did Ning Jingjing want to kill Qian Jingsui?

”Ning Jingjing, is there anything else you would like to say now?” suddenly asked the Ning Family Old Matriarch.

In truth, she had already viewed the Soul Returning Mirror before, but needed to achieve consensus before administering punishment, thus she had Qian Yinzhong present it again.

Ning Jingjing responded indifferently, ”I have nothing to say. I have already admitted that I personally struck down Qian Jingsui.”

Her voice was clear and firm, still carrying the authority of a general.

”Why? My Jingsui was so adorable, you do not know how hard he tried; why did you kill him?” Qian Jingsui’s mother wailed and screamed nonstop.

Ning Jingjing replied coldly with a laugh, ”Because he wanted to kill the family members of my subordinates, so he had to die!”

At these words, everyone looked at each other bewildered, subordinates?

”Pfft...”

Just then, a middle-aged man stepped forward from among the Ning family members.

”You all may not know, but my niece has a rebellious nature; she insisted on joining the Long Night Black Burning Army to become a Little General; so, her subordinates are naturally the rank-and-file soldiers of the Black Burning Army,” he said.

The middle-aged man finished speaking and looked at Ning Jingjing with scornful laughter. He was Ning Jingjing’s uncle, Ning Shouye.

The Ning Family Old Matriarch had three sons, Ning Shouye, Ning Shouwang, and Ning Shouzhi.

Ning Jingjing was the daughter of the third son, Ning Shouzhi, and was the only direct lineage daughter of this generation in the Ning Family.

Once, she was very much doted on by the Grand Old Master of the Ning Family.

But everything changed after Old Master Ning was assassinated two years ago, and the Ning Family Old Matriarch didn’t like her at all.

Because her father, Ning Shouzhi, was the least favored youngest son and was in poor health, and a Martial Arts failure, he was an embarrassment in a prestigious family like the Ning Family.

Moreover, Ning Jingjing’s personality was too strong, and the Old Matriarch believed that a daughter should be gentle and weak, so she was very displeased with her.

”How can a mere soldier’s family member compare to my beloved son? How could you heartlessly do such a thing?” Qian Jingsui’s mother screamed again, weeping bitterly as she looked at Qian Jingsui’s corpse.

”To me, my soldiers are more important than the lives of your entire Qian Family,” Ning Jingjing snorted coldly.

As soon as the words were spoken, a pale, frail middle-aged man called out, ”Jingjing, stop talking.”

He was Ning Shouzhi, the third master of the Ning Family.

”Ning Jingjing, shut your mouth,” the Ning Family Old Matriarch also shouted sternly, staring at her and saying, ”If you dare mention your soldiers again, do you believe that I will expel you and your father from the family?”

At these words, Ning Shouzhi and those around him went pale.

Ning Jingjing fell silent; she didn’t care about leaving the Ning Family, as she had always wanted to forge her own path, but her father couldn’t leave the Ning Family, which was why she found it difficult to speak harshly.

”I now declare that Ning Jingjing, for killing Qian Jingsui of the Qian Family, will be publicly flogged three hundred times.”

”And offer a sincere apology to the Qian Family.”

Although she had killed Qian Jingsui, and despite disliking Ning Jingjing,

the Ning Family Old Matriarch couldn’t allow Ning Jingjing to die as atonement, as that would bring disgrace to the Ning Family.

”My son is dead, and three hundred lashes are enough?” Qian Jingsui’s mother screamed again.

No sooner had the words left her mouth than Qian Yinzhong shouted sternly, ”Hold your tongue.”

Being able to do this much was already a lot; if Qian Jingsui’s mother got greedy and pushed further, it would only anger the Ning Family.

”Thank you, Ning Family Old Matriarch, for giving justice to the Qian Family,” Qian Yinzhong then bowed and expressed his gratitude.

But his gaze drifted to Ning Shouye, suggesting that the flogging should be severe and at least beat Ning Jingjing half to death.

And Ning Shouye had previously promised him in secret that he would beat Ning Jingjing until her Martial Arts were completely wasted.

Ning Shouye naturally nodded with a smile in response to his gaze...

Meanwhile, Ning Jingjing straightened her chest and said with a cold laugh, ”If you’re going to beat me, beat me, but apologizing is out of the question. Even if I had to do it again, I would still kill Qian Jingsui...”

Her words spoken, Ning Shouzhi called out again, ”Jingjing, I’m begging you as your father, please don’t say any more.”

Resisting now would only result in a more severe beating. Why didn’t Jingjing listen? Being stubborn was useless.

The Ning Family Old Matriarch’s expression darkened, and with a look of sheer malice, she stared at Ning Jingjing and commanded, ”I want your apology.”

”I’m sorry, that is beyond my ability to comply,” Ning Jingjing remained impassive.

The Old Matriarch’s chest heaved violently, and with a gesture of her Dragon Head Walking Stick, she shouted angrily, ”Forget the three hundred lashes, beat her, beat her fiercely until she apologizes...”

At these words, Ning Shouzhi’s expression changed drastically, and he clenched his teeth.

And Ning Shouye continued with a sinister smile, shouting, ”Quick, beat her fiercely for me!”

In an instant, several strong men rushed forward, holding Killing Sticks, ready to strike at Ning Jingjing.

A flash of satisfaction passed through the eyes of the Qian Family members in front of the Ning Family’s main gate...

”Who dares to beat her!”

Just at that moment, a deep voice resounded forcefully.

Ning Jingjing, about to receive the blows, widened her eyes; that was the voice of Sikong Jing. Why had he come?
