Chapter 311: Chapter 311: Ning Jingjing May Leave, But Your Life Must Stay

At this moment, Ning Shouye stepped forward and said, ”We’re not necessarily forcing Ning Jingjing to back out, but as the eldest Miss of the Ning Family, her mere rank as a little general of the 99th Army is just too shameful and disgraceful.”

The Ning Old Grand Dowager heard this and mentally praised her eldest son for his cunning.

Following that, the Ning Old Grand Dowager turned her gaze toward Sikong Jing.

”Indeed, as the eldest Miss of the Ning Family, she shouldn’t be satisfied with just the rank of a little general of the 99th Army. She should aim for a stronger, higher position, which is why stepping back is the best option for her,” she said.

After speaking, the Ning Old Grand Dowager looked at Ning Jingjing with a sardonic smile, her expression saying ’you’re still too green to compete with me’.

Meanwhile, Ning Jingjing lowered her head and clenched her teeth tightly.

It wasn’t that she was weak, but rather that her time in the Black Burning Army was far too short. In just under two years, she had attained the rank of general, which was no meager feat, and she did it all without relying on the Ning Family, while concealing her identity.

But saying these things was pointless.

The Ning Old Grand Dowager would still say she was weak, that she was not up to par.

On the other hand, the eighty thousand Black-armored Soldiers were much more composed than Ning Jingjing, with some even feeling like laughing.

Sikong Jing retorted with a smile, ”In that case, Ning Old Grand Dowager, what kind of position do you think befits the eldest Miss of the Ning Family?”

Without hesitation, the Ning Old Grand Dowager blurted out, ”If Ning Jingjing has joined the Black Burning Army, she must at least make it above the 80th Legions.”

Ning Shouzhi gritted his teeth, that was far too harsh.

As Ning Jingjing’s father, he had thoroughly investigated the Long Night Black Burning Army.

To climb to a rank above the 80th Legions on one’s own would take at least four to five years, and that was if one already possessed sufficient strength for battle. Accumulating the necessary leadership skills was essential.

And leading troops required a talent for battle.

”Eighty? Why don’t you just say she should become a Vice Commander while you’re at it?” Sikong Jing exclaimed with wide eyes, unable to hold back his scorn.

The Ning Old Grand Dowager smirked, enjoying Sikong Jing’s angered face, and she shrugged her shoulders.

”The expectations we have for our children and grandchildren in the Ning Family are just that high,” she said.

”It’s the Ning Family’s rule. If she can make it above the 80th Legions, I will certainly take the blame for Qian Jingsui’s death on her behalf.”

Her words were purposeful; they implied that she wasn’t a bad grandmother, but it was Ning Jingjing who didn’t measure up.

Now, let’s see what excuse you have for murder?

Suddenly, Sikong Jing smirked devilishly, ”I’m sorry, General Ning is already... the Commander General of the 66th Legion.”

Hm?

The previously smug Ning Old Grand Dowager was stunned, as was Ning Shouye, and all the members of the Ning Family were flabbergasted.

Even Ning Jingjing was perplexed. What nonsense was Sikong Jing talking about?

Suddenly, Sikong Jing took out the General Token of the 66th Army, then produced the order from the Beigong Commander, and slammed it in front of the Ning Old Grand Dowager, ”Take a good look, which legion’s general Ning Jingjing is.”

In an instant, a crowd of Ning Family members gathered to look. Indeed, it was the 66th Token, indeed it was the hand-written order of the Beigong Commander.

Shock and disbelief were written all over their faces as they stared at Ning Jingjing.

Yet Ning Jingjing was even more baffled than they were. Since when could she command such attention from the Beigong Commander himself?

”Now, Ning Old Grand Dowager, will you keep your word?”

”If it’s a position above the 80th Legions, will you shield General Ning from the pressure of the Qian Family, was Qian Jingsui’s death in vain?”

The voice of Sikong Jing thundered, full of imposing authority.

The whole room fell into deathly silence, as the Ning Old Grand Dowager had just uttered those very words herself.

And at that moment, the Ning Old Grand Dowager’s entire face was flushed red, her hands shaking uncontrollably as she clutched the 66th Token and the order from the Beigong Xianfeng.

She really wanted to say that everything she had just said was nonsense, but everyone around was watching.

”Very good, very good, truly worthy of the Ning Family’s offspring.”

The Ning Old Grand Dowager clenched her teeth, her voice almost squeezed out from between them, ”Let go of Ning Jingjing.”

”Mother,” Ning Shouye called out unwillingly.

The people of the Qian Family went mad, screaming one after another, ”Ning Old Grand Dowager, you can’t do this!”

But the Ning Old Grand Dowager was very concerned about her reputation and certainly didn’t want to be criticized by others.

Therefore, she still insisted on ordering Ning Jingjing to be released, and the latter went straight forward and snatched the 66th Token and Beigong Xianfeng’s orders from the hands of the Ning Old Grand Dowager, step by step approaching Sikong Jing and the others.

However, when Ning Jingjing arrived in front of everyone, suddenly, Ning Old Grand Dowager’s voice rose again, ”Ning Jingjing, the matter of you killing Qian Jingsui has been protected by me, your grandmother, to the death, but you...”

Suddenly, with an old hand, she pointed at Sikong Jing.

”You have wantonly slaughtered the Qian Family members, you must leave your life here.”

As soon as these words fell, Ning Jingjing’s whole body shook violently.

She suddenly turned back and stared at the Ning Old Grand Dowager, and then with a clang, she drew a sword from a Black-armored Soldier, and coldly said, ”Grandmother, whoever dares to touch my soldier must first step over my dead body.”

Clang!

The eighty thousand Black-armored Soldiers simultaneously drew their swords, pointing at the Ning Old Grand Dowager, silent yet with battle intent soaring to the skies.

But just at that moment, whoosh whoosh whoosh...

Figures rushed out from the Ning Family Mansion, none other than the Ning Family’s top experts from all ranks, a count surpassing ten thousand, many of whom had already reached the Xuantian Five Realms.

As one of the Six Great Families of the Long Night Imperial City, the Ning Family had experts as numerous as clouds; it was just that they hadn’t been summoned just now.

Even these tens of thousands weren’t all; there were still many out carrying out missions.

All of a sudden, the people of the Qian Family stared at Sikong Jing with continuous vicious laughter.

The Ning Old Grand Dowager, leaning on her Dragon Head Walking Stick, stepped forward, pointed at Sikong Jing and spoke to her eldest son, ”Shouye, the task of executing this young man this time will be led by you. Ensure the safety of my dear granddaughter Ning Jingjing at all costs.”

”As for the others, if they dare to obstruct, kill without mercy!”

The decrepit voice pierced through the clouds, and Ning Shouye spoke with a hideous face, ”Yes, mother!”

Ning Jingjing’s hand holding the sword trembled incessantly.

Even with eighty thousand Black Burning Army soldiers, they couldn’t possibly win, and as Sikong Jing had come to save her, she absolutely couldn’t let anything happen to him...

Suddenly, the sword in her hand moved to her neck as she coldly said, ”If you dare kill him, I will take my own life right here.”

As soon as her words fell, Ning Shouye was stunned for a moment, then he burst into loud laughter and said, ”Third brother, your daughter indeed has determination. She’s already prepared to pay Qian Jingsui’s life with her own; very good, truly worthy of the Ning Family offspring.”

Ning Shouzhi’s entire face turned pale as he weakly called out, ”Jingjing, don’t be reckless, don’t scare your father.”

And Ning Jingjing’s whole body shook as she stared dead at the Ning Old Grand Dowager, but the latter remained unmoved without a trace of emotion.

She couldn’t help but bitterly smile, her own life was utterly worthless in their eyes.

Just then, a finger gently flicked away the sword in Ning Jingjing’s hand. She turned back in surprise to see Sikong Jing walking out nonchalantly and said to her, ”General Ning, there’s no need for this.”

After speaking, Sikong Jing took steps forward, moving toward Ning Shouye and the other Ning Family experts like a gentle breeze.

Suddenly, Ning Jingjing’s gaze went blank. What was he trying to do?

Was he going to his death?

However, after walking a few steps, Sikong Jing stopped, casually took out another Token and slapped it towards the Ning Old Grand Dowager, saying, ”You want me to leave my life here? That’s easy for you to do.”

”But I wonder, can the Ning Family afford the price?”

At these words, Ning Shouye subconsciously stopped in his tracks.

And the Ning Old Grand Dowager looked intently at the Token she took in her hand, upon which was clearly engraved a large ”Qin” character!
