Chapter 308: Chapter 308: Long Night Six Families

By then, the members of the 96th Army had already received their orders.

They would be transferred to Ning Jingjing’s command, and in half a month, they might make a significant move to join the 66th Army.

But whether they could go depended, of course, on Sikong Jing and Ning Jingjing’s decision.

And with such an opportunity, why wouldn’t they want to advance?

Sikong Jing stepped out of 99th Town and upon seeing everyone, asked, ”Is there something wrong?”

The core members of the 96th Army bowed their heads, one of them saying, ”Brother Sikong, Yan Ruyu and Yuwen Guan have run away.”

As soon as these words were spoken, a cold light flashed in Sikong Jing’s eyes as he asked indifferently, ”She should still be in the reserve camp of the 96th Army, she couldn’t have received the news of Lan Zhuanghe’s defeat so quickly, could she?”

”No, Yan Ruyu had been inside 96th Castle all along.”

A deputy general explained Yan Ruyu’s connection with Lan Zhuanghe and also revealed that it was Yan Ruyu who had orchestrated the defection of Pan Zha.

”Right after you left 96th Castle, Yan Ruyu ran away without taking anything, and she ran directly out of the Black Burning Camp.”

”I don’t know how she was so sure, Brother Sikong, that you would definitely win decisively?”

Sikong Jing remained silent, knowing that in the Long Night Empire, perhaps the one who understood his capabilities the best was not Sui Yu, but Yan Ruyu.

After pondering for a while, Sikong Jing said indifferently, ”Issue a deserter’s warrant.”

Although he no longer considered Yan Ruyu a threat, he could not forget the deep hatred, and he would not allow her to live in peace.

And since Yan Ruyu had already joined the Long Night Black Burning Army, being a member of the Reserve Camp, escaping now made her a deserter, and issuing a warrant would severely hinder the movements of Yan Ruyu and Yuwen Guan.

”Brother Sikong...”

Just then, from behind came the anxious voice of Elder Wei, his face dripping with sweat.

Upon seeing Sikong Jing, Elder Wei said breathlessly, ”Brother Sikong, I just received a letter from General Ning’s father.”

”There has been a major incident at General Ning’s home. The Ning Family is forcing General Ning to withdraw from the Black Burning Army, and they also want to give her 300 strokes and force her to apologize to the Qian Family...”

At this point, Elder Wei clenched his teeth in anger.

Upon hearing this, a cold light flashed in Sikong Jing’s eyes, and he asked with confusion, ”The Qian Family?”

”Yes, the Qian Family.”

Elder Wei nodded heavily, his expression still distraught as he said, ”The death of Qian Jingsui at Qianbei Building, the Qian Family has traced it back to General Ning, which is why she was suddenly ordered to return home.”

The incident at Qianbei Building had been unveiled after twenty-something days; how had the Qian Family found out?

Without asking further, Sikong Jing slowly said, ”If I’m not mistaken, the Qian Family’s power must be less than that of the Ning Family, and General Ning must be the daughter of the Ning family head, right? Why is she still treated this way?”

Combining the words of Qian Jingsui before his death, Sikong Jing discerned the truth.

Back then, Qian Jingsui had repeatedly begged Ning Jingjing for mercy, apparently very frightened, suggesting that the Ning Family should be much stronger.

”Ah...”

Elder Wei sighed deeply before responding, ”The Ning Family is one of the Six Great Families of the Long Night Imperial City, with immense power, and many family clans rely on the Ning Family, among which the Qian Family is one of the most important.”

”The Qian Family’s business is substantial, providing the Ning Family with significant amounts of Light Crystal every year, so they are highly valued.”

”The death of Qian Jingsui caused the Qian Family to create a big scene, which has made the upper and lower ranks of the Ning Family very irritable. Consequently, those in the Ning Family with ulterior motives towards General Ning have taken this opportunity to continuously emerge, leading to the current situation.”

Sikong Jing realized it then: it was another internal family strife.

”Two years ago, Old Master Ning was murdered, and now the Ning Family is run by the Ning Old Grand Dowager who dislikes the rebellious General Ning.”

”The Old Grand Dowager even once threatened that if General Ning did not withdraw from the Black Burning Army, she would personally find the Beigong Commander to have her expelled. If he refuses to expel her, she would ruin General Ning’s reputation and life...”

Elder Wei’s explanation made Sikong Jing’s eyebrows shoot up, thinking that this Ning Old Grand Dowager was indeed going too far.

It seemed that those punishing Ning Jingjing included not only those in the Ning Family with ulterior motives but the Ning Old Grand Dowager who was the main instigator.

”Alas, there is no use in telling you.”

”We can only say the 66th Army, General Ning and I probably can’t go anymore.”

Elder Wei sighed again. What a great opportunity this was, yet it had been severely hindered by the Ning Family, affecting General Ning’s future.

Having said that, Elder Wei turned around dejectedly...

He came to Sikong Jing not to seek his help for General Ning but simply to vent his frustration.

And Sikong Jing had gradually become their backbone.

But it was useless!

However, at that moment, Sikong Jing’s voice suddenly rose in a long howl, ”All warriors of the 99th Army and the 96th Army, heed my command, depart immediately for the Ning Family in Long Night Imperial City.”

Upon hearing this, Elder Wei trembled violently and turned back to stare at Sikong Jing in disbelief.

Sikong Jing looked at him and said, ”The matter of Qian Jingsui began because of me, I absolutely cannot ignore it.”

”But Brother Sikong, the Ning Family is one of the Six Great Families of Long Night Imperial City.” Elder Wei did not think that Sikong Jing’s going there would be of any use unless he could summon the Ancient Demon Dragon that had caused an uproar in Xingluo Palace.

But that was impossible; the Ancient Demon Dragon was merely passing by.

”So what? I am going there to reason with the Ning Family, not to fight.”

After speaking, Sikong Jing looked toward 99th Town again and commanded, ”Everyone grab your weapons, don your armor; we are going to the Ning Family to reason.”

The Black-armored Soldiers were baffled, but Sikong Jing’s influence had already taken deep root in their hearts.

Without another word, everyone prepared immediately!

”Depart, to reason.”

Watching Sikong Jing leading eighty thousand Black-armored Soldiers charging out of 99th Town toward the direction of Long Night Imperial City, Elder Wei was completely stunned.

This formation...did it look like they were going to reason?

Ultimately, Elder Wei gritted his teeth and followed, leading the way for Sikong Jing and the eighty thousand soldiers.

...

The Ning Family, located on one side of the noble district in Long Night Imperial City, had an estate that almost stretched as far as the eye could see.

The mansion was majestic, with the ”Ning” character on the high gates like a dragon emerging fiercely, chilling to the beholder.

However, at this moment outside the main gate of the Ning Family, there was a wave of crying, with a corpse laid in front of the gate.

Behind the corpse stood a group of people dressed in white.

Leading them was an elder, none other than Qian Yinzhong, the Family Head of the Qian Family, and the corpse was of course Qian Jingsui, who had been killed twenty-some days ago.

”We plead with the Ning Family Old Matriarch to give our Qian Family justice,” Qian Yinzhong knelt in front of the gate, tears streaming down his face.

Following that, a thousand people from the Qian Family shouted simultaneously, ”We plead with the Ning Family Old Matriarch to give our Qian Family justice.”

There were also many onlookers around, all whispering and pointing.

By now, everyone clearly understood that Qian Jingsui, the young master of the Qian Family, had died at the hands of Ning Jingjing, the young miss of the Ning Family. Although the Qian Family was subordinate to the Ning Family, their influence was also strong.

Especially significant was their place in the hearts of the Ning Family, but it was unclear how the Ning Family would deal with Ning Jingjing?

Suddenly, the main gates of the Ning Family burst open.

An old woman, leaning on a dragon head walking stick, was helped out.

Behind her were the core members of the Ning Family, including her son and several elders from the Ning family.

Each had a grave expression and a profound gaze!

Upon seeing the old woman, Qian Yinzhong started knocking his head on the ground, saying, ”Old Matriarch Ning, my grandson Qian Jingsui died a terrible death.”
