Berserk God of War

Chapter 487: Chapter 487 Public Interrogation

Boom, boom, boom...

As soon as they saw Sikong Jing, they immediately formed into ranks, saluting gravely, ”Commander Sikong.”

Each of their eyes gleamed brightly, their gazes towards Sikong Jing filled with reverence and admiration, coupled with a determination to lay down their lives for him.

Sikong Jing strode in and said deeply, ”Well done, you all are now truly the Absolute Night Wolf Guards.”

No sooner had his voice faded than Beigong Xianfeng entered, addressing the Wolf Guards, ”I am Beigong Xianfeng, from now on, you are part of the Long Night Black Burning Army, and these are the armors crafted for you.”

With these words, he flung out seven hundred sets of dark armors from his storage ring, each bearing the insignia of the Long Night Black Burning Army.

The armors had been hurriedly made in three days, a testament to Beigong Xianfeng’s trust in Sikong Jing...

And when the Absolute Night Wolf Guards were all fully equipped, Beigong Xianfeng couldn’t help but praise them exuberantly, ”Now, this is what I call an elite force!”

The seven hundred Absolute Night Wolf Guards, emanating a wild and sharp aura, seemed like a dagger ready to tear through everything.

Ning Jingjing felt a mix of admiration, jealousy, and resentment towards this sight, unfortunately, she had now become Sikong Jing’s Dark Wing Deputy Commander and could not command these men.

”Who dares to barge into the Central Castle uninvited?”

Just as the two were heaping praises internally, a stern shout came from the direction of the Central Castle.

Caught off guard, Beigong Xianfeng glanced in the direction of the Central Castle unconsciously.

Swiftly followed by a frantic shout, ”I am Sui Yu of the 66th Army; I need to see the Beigong Commander and General Ning.”

Sui Yu?

Sikong Jing was taken aback—Sui Yu’s arrival at such a time surely meant some urgent and pressing matter.

Thus, Sikong Jing quickly instructed Beigong Xianfeng to give the order to let him in...

When Sui Yu saw Sikong Jing, his eyes lit up and he hurriedly said, ”Big brother, something terrible has happened.”

”My father rushed to the 66th Castle saying that Uncle Su, Aunt Su, and Sister Yue Xian have been taken away by the Imperial City Guard, and the one leading them, Chi Hang, even claimed they are all spies of the War Soul Dynasty.”

Sui Yu didn’t waste words and blurted out everything in one breath.

In an instant, Sikong Jing’s complexion drastically changed, a flicker of murderous intent passing through his eyes while Beigong Xianfeng and Ning Jingjing exchanged bewildered glances—what was happening?

After a few breaths, Sikong Jing’s expression suddenly regained its composure, his voice squeezing through clenched teeth, ”It’s Ji Ming, and such maneuvers likely come from Yan Ruyu’s hand, they’re targeting me!”

Hearing this, elder Beigong Xianfeng’s eyes flashed with understanding, catching onto the critical point.

”Ji Ming, utterly disgraceful.”

Realizing that this was a scheme against Sikong Jing, Beigong Xianfeng cursed before turning to Sikong Jing and saying, ”Don’t worry, I’ll head to the palace to see His Majesty right now and will not let your family suffer the slightest grievance.”

Having said this, Beigong Xianfeng did not delay any further and immediately summoned his mount, hurrying towards the direction of the Imperial City.

At the same time, Ning Jingjing also offered comfort, ”Sikong Jing, with Beigong Xianfeng going to see the Emperor, there surely won’t be any problems.”

In her heart, she was certain that with the Long Night Emperor intervening, everything would be resolved.

However, the chill in Sikong Jing’s eyes grew more intense as he spoke coldly, ”No, knowing Yan Ruyu’s cunning, he would have anticipated that I would seek the Beigong Commander, and that the Commander would seek the Long Night Emperor.”

”I’m afraid they will make their move on my father-in-law and mother-in-law before the Long Night Emperor even receives the report.”

Sikong Jing, too aware of Yan Ruyu’s thought processes.

Sui Yu looked terrified, his easing heart clenching again as he asked, ”Big brother, what should we do now?”

Taking a deep breath, Sikong Jing turned to Ning Jingjing and said seriously, ”You take Sui Yu back to the 66th Army right away to mobilize the Dark Wing Camp to strike at the Long Night Imperial City, while I will lead the Absolute Night Wolf Guards there immediately.”

After finishing his speech, Sikong Jing looked towards the seven hundred Absolute Night Wolf Guards and exclaimed, ”Your first mission is about to begin.”

At these words, a murderous aura surged in the eyes of the Absolute Night Wolf Guards, and their battle intent soared to the heavens.

”Follow me to set out and kill!”

At Sikong Jing’s command, seven hundred men mounted their Black Steeds and charged wildly out of the Long Night Black Burning Army, rushing into the Long Night Imperial City.

Meanwhile, Ning Jingjing took Sui Yu back to the 66th Army and summoned two hundred thousand troops to strike.

...

Outside the Imperial City in the Long Night Imperial City, in front of the grand hall of the Long Night Execution Department’s square, the crowd was packed to the brim.

The so-called Execution Department was exactly where major criminals were interrogated in the Long Night Empire, and at this moment, it was publicly interrogating major criminals outside the great hall, allowing the masses to watch as they pleased.

At this time, at the bottom of the square, more than a dozen prisoners were kneeling, young and old alike.

The onlooking crowd all knew that these dozen or so prisoners were spies of the enemy War Soul Dynasty, and this public trial involved not only the officials of the Execution Department but also Seventh Prince Ji Ming as an observer.

Just then, the middle-aged man sitting at the very top scanned the dozen or so spies with a cold gaze and sinisterly asked, ”Will you speak or not? Who else in Long Night Imperial City are spies of the War Soul Dynasty?”

”Speak up, and I will grant you a swift end.”

The dozen or so prisoners raised their heads, many displaying cold, mocking smiles, utterly fearless.

They came to the Long Night Imperial City as spies, unafraid to die.

But at that moment, one portly middle-aged man raised his head and replied, ”Peng Likui, I can tell you... but my family is innocent; they do not know I come from the War Soul Dynasty, and you must not lay a hand on them.”

After speaking, he stared intently at the middle-aged official at the very top, the Grand Commandant of the Execution Department, the leader of the Long Night Empire’s Execution Department.

This man was named Peng Likui, obviously a member of the Peng Family—that is, Peng Peng’s uncle.

As one of the Six Families of the Long Night, the Peng Family was not only a Martial Arts family but also had many members serving in the Long Night Dynasty.

They had become the sharp blade in Ji Ming’s hand, stopping at nothing to avenge Sikong Jing.

In response to the portly middle-aged man’s words, Peng Likui laughed and leaned forward slightly, saying, ”Fine, as long as you name at least three spies and there is nothing wrong with your family members, they will all be good citizens of my Long Night Empire,”

Seeing the hesitation in the other party, Peng Likui said, ”This trial is public, with the people watching. Are you still afraid I would renege on my word?”

As soon as these words fell, the portly middle-aged man finally raised his head, his gaze resolute as he stated, ”The spies of the War Soul Dynasty in the Long Night Empire include the Long Night Black Burning Army’s... Ning Jingjing.”

Whoosh...

The moment this name was mentioned, the entire crowd was in an uproar, exchanging startled looks.

Seventh Prince Ji Ming, who was observing at the side, smiled faintly, exchanging a glance with Yan Yuru, who was massaging his shoulders.

This was the plan they had set up over a month, finding the true spies and then convincing one of them, desperate to protect his family, to implicate several people who must die.

By holding this trial at this time and in public, the people of the Long Night Imperial City were encouraged to surround and watch.

This was using public sentiment; even if the schemes of the Beigong Xianfeng were incredibly shrewd, it would not help, as no one would dare to defy public opinion.

”Who else?” Peng Likui continued to ask.

”There are also the Long Night Black Burning Army’s Su Zhenglong and Su Yue Immortal; they are all our people from the War Soul Dynasty.” The portly middle-aged man shouted out loud, then widened his eyes and said, ”I have named all three people, please do not break your promise, Lord Peng.”

Peng Likui leaned back and slowly replied, ”Rest assured...”

Suddenly standing up, Peng Likui ordered the surrounding Execution Department officials, ”Men, go swiftly to the Long Night Black Burning Army and capture Ning Jingjing, Su Zhenglong, and Su Yue Immortal. Make no mistakes!”
