From BOSS to Canon Fodder: She is Currently Out of Service!

Chapter 242: Chapter 120: Visiting My Best Friend, Li You (Part 2)

He tightened his fist, suppressed that feeling, and returned to his usual wooden expression.

Su Jiameng soothed the baby, went to the virtual network to warm up with two matches to adjust her state, and prepared immediately after logging off to deal with the preliminary preparations for the escapee! She took out some of the purchased guns from the space grid and spent over half an hour arming them, ensuring the energy guns were fully charged. If the space grid is used well, it’s also a frightening mobile gunpowder warehouse!

Imagine playing a shooting game with the enemy, they’re out of ammo, and you still have plenty, just the thought is exciting!

Her gaze fell on the Mecha Space Hub hanging around her neck, and Su Jiameng hesitated slightly before reinstalling all the weapons removed from the Military God. Many people on Qiming Star recognize the lite version of the Military God, but no one is aware of its true form.

Because the action is taking place in school, the scope of impact is too large and might harm innocent people, so Su Jiameng would not use the Military God unless absolutely necessary.

”May the Military God bless, may the expedition be smooth, I swear by my flesh, bones, and soul to be loyal to the Alliance!” Su Jiameng raised her hand to rub the cold surface of the Mecha Space Hub, murmuring softly.

This was the ritual every warrior performed before going to the battlefield in the previous life. Initially, Su Jiameng found this behavior somewhat pretentious, but later realized that the ritual was simply to seek peace of mind.

At the same time, turning and tossing through the night, Gu Ningzhi seemed to have made a decision, wearing a windbreaker and sunglasses, he went to visit an old friend. Coincidentally, this old friend was on vacation at home today. He raised his hand to ring the bell and then waited for the door to open.

Li You was dressed in casual homeware, learned through the video at the door who was visiting, and felt suspicious but opened the door after thinking for a while. He stepped aside to let him in and said in a deep voice, ”Didn’t expect to see you after so many years...”

”Yo, don’t be so cold, it’s rare for dear junior to pass by and see you, at least show a smile.” Gu Ningzhi leaned lazily at the door with his arms folded, exuded an attitude that made one want to punch him, and only took off his sunglasses after walking in.

Li You pursed his lips, somewhat unable to accept how the always reserved and serious person in his memory had turned into this manner, frivolous and decadent with a negative vibe, ”Stop babbling, as they say, nothing happens without a reason. Just say what you have to.”

Regarding the nickname that sounds just painful, Li You chose to ignore it. Gu Ningzhi couldn’t help but awkwardly touched his nose, recalling how enthusiastic and cheerful Li You used to be. Thirty years in the Military Department turned him stiff and wooden.

Indeed, he abandoned entering the Military Department back then, which proved to be the right choice, otherwise, Li You today would have been his cautionary tale.

”I’m just here to see an old friend, only to reminisce and not discuss business.” Gu Ningzhi flopped onto the sofa in Li You’s house and lazed around as if he had no bones, ”Right, Little Squid~~~ Let’s reminisce well~~~”

Li You twitched twice, thinking indeed thirty-plus years had turned out to be quite the butcher’s knife; Gu Ningzhi had changed so much he couldn’t accept it, damn it! Sitting opposite, Li You suppressed the desire to ridicule, and said, ”Speak normally!”

Gu Ningzhi silently sighed at how this kid isn’t as fun as during school, couldn’t handle a few teasing words.

Back in the day, they were a famous ”partners in crime” duo at Xilena Academy, Li You was enthusiastic like fire but had a sharp tongue, while Gu Ningzhi had a poker face and loved to mock, together they troubled countless unfortunate teachers. Time flies, changes are vast indeed...

”I still prefer the passionate and flamboyant Little Squid from before; after thirty years he’s turned into a poker-faced iceberg.” Gu Ningzhi displayed an expression of ”Little Squid, your huge change is so heart-wrenching to your buddy”.

”Gu Ningzhi, seeing you like this, you really are something.” Li You, as the host, stingily poured plain water for Gu Ningzhi while he drank fine wine. Compared to Gu Ningzhi’s relaxed posture, Li You’s straight-backed posture looked more proper.

As for the ”passionate, flamboyant Little Squid” thing, Li You certainly wouldn’t acknowledge such an absurd description. Truthfully, the mischievous days with Gu Ningzhi are definitely Li You’s dark history, something he wouldn’t want to mention his whole life!

”Sigh... Those who know me, Little Squid does.” Gu Ningzhi propped up his chin with one hand, glanced at Li You sideways, ”I’m mainly here to reminisce, but I have a secondary matter for which I seek Little Squid’s help, you will agree, won’t you?”

”As an Alliance Major General, I don’t seek personal gain or do favors, I act fair and upright. You want to go through the back door? Sorry, I won’t agree.”

Li You said this straight away, prompting Gu Ningzhi to raise his hand to cover his ears, as the words sounded too similar to his father’s.

”You should listen to me first and then decide...” Gu Ningzhi’s expression suddenly turned earnest, Li You seemed to see the highly compatible partner from many years ago. Gu Ningzhi’s abandonment of entering the Military Department dealt a heavy blow to the Gu Family, and quite a blow to Li You as well.

On graduation day, they had originally planned to enter the Expedition Army together, starting a journey in the Expedition Army era that belonged to the two of them. Who would have known after a drinking spree, this guy disappeared, acting as a coward who fled from battle! Li You resented Gu Ningzhi to the core!

”I want to anonymously join the Expedition Army!” Gu Ningzhi said solemnly, ”I know you have received a search mission which lasts for quite some time. I have urgent matters I must be involved in, while finding the truth along the way...”

”I will not act illegally nor willingly cover for you. Moreover... Gu Ningzhi, declaring to a Military God that you’ve been tracking Alliance’s task movements all along, is this really appropriate?” Li You’s expression swiftly turned grave, and he pulled out a gun from the side of the sofa aiming at Gu Ningzhi’s forehead, ”Even as the Gu family’s second young master, you do not have the qualification to trample Alliance rules!” (To be continued.
