Chapter 218: Chapter 108: Letting It Slip_2

Looking at her own soft and cute baby, then at Gu Ningzhi, who wasn’t much to look at and exuded a gangster-like vibe with the smell of smoke, Su Jiameng decidedly thought her own baby was better.

Gu Ningzhi was momentarily at a loss for words, and also felt that Su Jiameng, with her sharp tongue, was no match for his stiff brother. Su Jiameng waited, and seeing he had no intention to leave, became annoyed. Why was this guy staying? Why was he staring at her baby so much? Could he possibly have ill intentions, like wanting to kidnap her baby?

If Gu Ningzhi knew he was being slandered by Su Jiameng like this, he would probably want to bang his head against a wall.

Just then, Huaifeng, lying next to Su Jiameng, kicked his legs uneasily and began to wail. It seemed like twins had some sort of telepathy; when the younger brother cried, the older brother frowned slightly and also started to whimper, leaving Su Jiameng at a loss.

Did he wet himself and feel uncomfortable? But his diaper was just changed. Su Jiameng felt his butt, but everything seemed normal. Was he hungry? It seemed he had just had half a bottle of milk ten minutes ago, so he shouldn’t be hungry yet...

As she was being overwhelmed by the two-day-old babies, Gu Ningzhi’s voice came over, along with a faint smell of tobacco, ”This little one probably just wants someone to hold and comfort him a bit.”

”Who said you could hold him?” Su Jiameng was ready for a showdown, but Gu Ningzhi showed no hostility. He skillfully picked up Huaifeng and soothed him a bit, causing the little guy, who had been crying louder than thunder, to quiet down.

Su Jiameng’s eyes widened. How did she not know her little son was so easy to comfort? And how come Gu Ningzhi was more skilled at comforting babies than she was? This didn’t seem right.

”I mean no harm; there’s no need to be so guarded,” Gu Ningzhi said as he soothed the baby in his arms, secretly amused. This child was truly a Gu Family descendant. He remembered how his mother used to complain that the Gu Family men were troublesome, especially as newborns; they were incredibly clingy and if they weren’t held or comforted, crying and kicking were common.

His grandmother said their father was the same way when he was young. It seemed their third brother’s child inherited this ”fine family tradition.” Putting the teary-eyed Huaifeng back next to Su Jiameng, he behaved appropriately without making any over-the-top gestures that might rile her up.

”I heard from my disappointing brother that these two are called Huaixi and Huaifeng?” Gu Ningzhi, aware of the smoke smell on him, moved a bit further from Su Jiameng to avoid her murderous glare, ”Did Ningxuan name them?”

Su Jiameng couldn’t quite figure out what this man wanted, but seeing that he meant no harm, her annoyance faded a bit. Plus, since he helped calm her overly sensitive younger son, she felt a little more favorable towards him, ”Yes, Gu Ningxuan named them.”

Gu Ningzhi smiled and said, ”Seems like he has high hopes for these two kids.”

Though she didn’t understand why the usually conventional brother would go against the family’s naming taboos, as someone from the Gu Family, these names were indeed the greatest blessing from the elders to the younger generation, something Su Jiameng didn’t feel much about.

Knock, knock, knock—

The bell on the headboard rang, followed by a beep and then the sweet voice of a robotic nurse, breaking the slightly tense atmosphere in the room, ”Miss Su, are you in the ward now? I am your attending nurse, AK683.”

Su Jiameng frowned, unsure why the nurse was coming, and pressed the intercom button, ”I’m here, if there’s anything, please come in and talk.”

With her permission, the robotic nurse came in holding an electronic medical record, pulling out two small chips about the size of a fingernail, ”These are the genetic data chips and hospital verification for No. 20141 and No. 20142. Please keep them safe for future registration. If everything is correct, please sign your name here.”

Su Jiameng linked the chip to her intelligence brain; the complex genetic sequences and data were all visible. Once confirmed, she wanted to implant the chip into the baby’s intelligence brain, but since she was by herself, it was a bit inconvenient.

Gu Ningzhi, seeing this, offered to help, ”Let me help you; you just keep the baby steady...”

Su Jiameng wanted to ask the nurse to hold the baby, not favoring strangers touching her precious bundle, but the baby seemed determined to make things difficult, showing signs of telekinetic loss of control. To prevent Gu Ningzhi from noticing anything amiss, she watched as he carefully placed the chip into the intelligence brain on the baby’s arm, all the while remaining vigilant.

Wearing the intelligence brain on the wrist was greatly annoying to the baby. As Gu Ningzhi tried to insert the chip into the intelligence brain, Huaixi was uncooperative, but his little arms were no match for the adult’s, and ultimately, the nuisance of an adult succeeded.

”Thanks.” Su Jiameng secretly wiped the sweat from her back. She knew newborns’ telekinesis was highly unstable, but she hadn’t expected the frequency of these little guys’ bursts to be so high. If she hadn’t acted quickly just now, they might have been exposed.

”This kid sure has some strength in those hands and feet.” Gu Ningzhi discreetly made a small movement, still wearing his rogue smile, ”Kind of like his father...”

Su Jiameng looked at him suspiciously, her gaze making Gu Ningzhi uneasy. After a long time, she blurted out some questions, ”Did you know me before? Do you know who the father is? Otherwise, how could you say such things...” (To be continued. If you like this work, feel free to vote for it on qidian.com. Your support is my greatest motivation.
