Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Sia’s junior white robe and ’Aislin’s’ unfortunate follower were certainly not foolish, standing still despite the impending claws.

However, they were shocked to discover that their feet had already been firmly locked to the ground by sticky webs.

The two junior mages wore expressions of dead silence... they felt nothing at all.

Of course, they had heard that while Gilbert’s spell talents weren’t the most outstanding, his talents in strange objects and arrays were astounding even to Archmage Ruth.

Is this what they called not the most outstanding?

Then, what does it mean to be truly outstanding?

Especially the Fourth Ring Mage from Sia Tower, who found it hard to accept this reality... why did he dare involve himself in such inner conflicts of the Tower of Dark Enigma?

Naturally, because he looked down on Gilbert’s so-called talents.

The fact that Gilbert had to fight tooth and nail for a spot to enter the Tower of Despair made someone capable of entering Sia Tower with his own abilities not take him seriously.

Although Gilbert had already reached Seven Rings, they dared to appear in front of him so confidently and linger casually after pointing the way without flying away immediately, all thanks to some protective strange objects given by a certain lady.

With this strange object, coupled with an ordinary mage who had just been promoted to Seven Rings not long ago and probably hadn’t learned many spells yet, the junior Fourth Ring from Sia dared to be so presumptuous.

Naturally, within the White Robe Faction, there were some whispers circulating about ’cooperating moderately with Miss Aislin.’

Otherwise, even with all the greed and the benefits Aislin offered, he wouldn’t dare defy the will of the faction leader.

Mages who could join the White Faction were naturally talented... the baseline at Sia Tower could be compared with the top levels of other magic towers, but there was another basic requirement of appearance, demeanor, and temperament.

Indeed, if one’s looks were truly exceptional, those characteristics that could be acquired through family upbringing might as well be overlooked.

However, children like that were mostly raised well by their teachers and wouldn’t interfere in the inner conflict of the Tower of Dark Enigma for trifling benefits, unlike this junior Fourth Ring.

As could be imagined, this junior Fourth Ring’s capabilities were likely at the lowest tier within the faction.

Much like how he couldn’t understand why Archmage Ruth holds Gilbert’s talents in high regard, even more than his two visible Eighth Ring disciples.

Gilbert had to fight desperately because he grew up during the Hainarson Clan’s frantic escape.

That path didn’t seem long to mages.

But the Hainarson clan was so large that, even with some choosing to ally with others, they still had to carry many ordinary people and a lot of luggage.

It was a road filled with prolonged suffering and countless losses, marked as a journey of exile.

Nobody would bring up the past after Gilbert found his footing, but anyone aware couldn’t ignore that past.

Though Gilbert, due to having mage talent, could stay on the few airships, he couldn’t have had much time for deep meditation.

Yet, even in such dire circumstances, this child still secured a place for his family... desperation requires certain requisites.

Those who cannot meet them are merely sacrifices, having no chance of success.

This is why even the archmages from Sia Tower paid Gilbert some attention.

The Tower of Despair may have given up on him, mostly out of concern over matters involving the Defense Tower... after all, they were in a phase where Sia Tower hadn’t caught them in any weakness.

Only the Tower of Dark Enigma had nothing to fear.

Thus, after Gilbert healed the damage to his Mental Sea, directly skipping the Sixth Ring to become a Level 15 mage, no one found it strange.

He was, after all, a natural genius.

Though destiny gave him many setbacks and hardships, if he truly overcame them, Gilbert’s future was boundless.

But while many years passed, no one thought he could successfully overcome this difficult barrier.

This is why, aside from troublemakers like ’Aislin’, no one actively sought out trouble with Gilbert... unless they could kill him, no one wanted to provoke a future strongman.

Yet ’Aislin’ surely didn’t believe Gilbert could surpass her one day.

Otherwise, she wouldn’t have unleashed her frustrations on the junior mage who offended her when her original plans went bankrupt... clearly, Glaysia didn’t suspect her soul couldn’t manage even a mask.

But she believed her soul wouldn’t be dutifully obedient.

Thus, she simply let White Robe Ninth Ring Rosero indicate a relationship with Aislin.

Doing so wouldn’t expose Aislin’s true identity... it was merely a well-hidden Kamente Tower, after all; in Sia, who didn’t have real power Ninth Ring mages?

Moreover, if a female mage controlled by the White Robe had a nature inclined towards ’sensual pleasure’ and ’love desire’, it would be quite normal.

Though others were unaware, Fengo certainly understood who the real power holders in the White Robe were.

Playing with desires was inherently their instinct.

Although Hilbert might not be able to grasp all the facts, he could still deduce most of them.

So he was almost laughing in anger.

He didn’t care whether the place he was in was remote or far from Ruth’s future Main Tower.

To be honest, he wished that the people from Sia Tower would ignore his existence.

But this doesn’t mean that when someone comes to flaunt in front of him, he wouldn’t slap that shameless face!

Therefore, Hilbert didn’t care at all when the two junior mages cried out for mercy, especially when the little white robe from Sia cried loudly, ”I’m just a guide,” and directly commanded the giant metal eagle to carry them high and fly swiftly into the distance.

Ruth’s Magic Tower was indeed very far from him.

If it were in the Tower of Dark Enigma, it would be almost akin to the difference between the edge of the outer ring and the Main Tower.

But in Sia Tower, the area Hill was in was just remote, yet it was still in the Inner Ring.

Especially, Hill could feel that the place he was in could only be considered the periphery of Ruth’s faction, but neither the edge of the Inner Ring nor the edge of the Tower of Dark Enigma.

The region with weak magical energy was at least over 1000 kilometers away from him.

He couldn’t help but shake his head... Ruth wanted to retain the hearts of the people he brought here, but it’s not that easy.

Almost eighty percent of the world’s premium resources were concentrated in the hands of the people in Sia Tower.

Even in a world as resource-deficient, this small group can be sustained by the global force enough to let them enjoy a life beyond imagination.

What’s more, the true power holders in Sia Tower wouldn’t even care about these resources... otherwise, mutated minerals like those from Hainarson wouldn’t have fallen into the hands of an ordinary Ninth Ring not even capable of defeating Pet.

Hell’s devils are indeed greedy, but when they come to this world, their greed has a higher baseline... owning so much means needing rare resources to entice them.

Money can make the devil work, but it depends on how much money and what kind of devil.

”Teacher, what should we do now?” Russell asked softly, standing behind him.

Russell knew well that even though the teacher showed his dissatisfaction, the designated area could not be changed... it would be impossible for him to make others give up their positions because he’s unhappy.

Such a move would cause a lot of people to be disturbed... those willing to give up their place for Gilbert would certainly seek others to give up theirs.

In the end, the anger of all those disturbed would be directed at Gilbert, who refused to admit defeat... even though everyone knew he was tricked by Aislin.

”Bring out the puppets and first dig the foundation,” Hilbert sneered, ”Wait... those red glowing lines should mark our territory.

Let the puppets first build stone walls on them.”

Carpenter checked the storage ring issued by Sia Tower and followed up with, ”Teacher, the resources distributed by Sia Tower include 100 standard Energy Gems.

They should be enough for us to build our Magic Tower.”

Although there were only three of them, compared to other Archmages who could only command their students to work with spells, their puppets made things relatively easier.

After all, asking the mages to dig the foundation and mine stones... in this world, using Mud into Stone is the least cost-effective and truly difficult.

The human spirit has its limits, but machines can rely on Energy Stones to work tirelessly day and night.

Hilbert glanced at his storage ring, turned coldly and threw it to Russell: ”Take it, use the Crystal Stones here first.

Tell me when it’s empty, don’t use yours and Carpenter’s.”

”But, Teacher, these were supposed to be used for building the Magic Tower!” Russell hesitated, ”We don’t have many people and resources.”

”Don’t worry about that,” Hilbert smiled, ”There will be resources sent over.”

Russell couldn’t help but raise his head in curiosity, looking at the teacher who gazed calmly into the distance.

”Damn it!” Aislin exclaimed angrily, while commanding a large group of mages to construct Ruth’s Great Magic Tower.

The giant metal eagle circling in the sky simultaneously tossed the two junior mages onto her head.

Ruth took a glance and directly stopped Oliver from trying to help.

”Teacher?”

”Aislin did something again,” Ruth shook his head, ”Didn’t you see that eagle?

I remember it’s something Gilbert made a few years ago.

Has it been modified to be this powerful?

Even Aislin couldn’t respond immediately.”
