Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Hill couldn’t help but slightly frown.

Aislin has issues, that’s undoubtedly true. The question is, who exactly?

But, Copper Horn?

Who would enjoy playing with this thing?

Aren’t devils supposed to like that elegant kind of music?

So, when Carpenter said Aislin used to enjoy playing harp-like Male Mage, Hill understood it easily.

Yet the most melodious horn music is all about celebrating harvests; the rest are either for rituals or war songs.

What do those two have to do with devils? Including the Evil God squatting in Hell.

Moreover, devils like to create a particularly elegant lifestyle for themselves. Generally, they don’t want to appear like war mongers.

Even though they typically do that... But their main role is to incite wars, not become the main force, unless facing demons.

Furthermore, the reason devils are willing to fight demons isn’t just because they can use demon blood to ascend, it’s also because of the Soul Pool in Hell. At the moment of every devil’s birth, during their most naive and irrational stage, they are marked with the hatred against Abyssal demons.

However, the higher the devil’s level, the stronger their chance to escape or suppress this mark. They will prioritize their interest when facing demons... But that doesn’t mean they won’t feel annoyed when they see demons.

Once they enter the blood battle mode, amidst endless bloody and death-like atmosphere among their kind, apart from devils who have reached the Dukedom, they can’t suppress this mark anymore... That’s why even those devils, who are swift at fleeing and keen at weighing pros and cons, would also fight with demons to the death.

But in areas devils can control, regardless of their true appearance, they will portray themselves as gracefully elegant.

Perhaps initially the devils just wanted to disguise themselves in front of humans... They indeed lured countless humans in this way, yet, during such a long time, the devils haven’t remained entirely unaffected.

They have already considered this image as their true self... Especially since Lord of Hell Asmodeus clearly prefers devils in this state, devils further embrace elegance and dignity as their own traits.

Also, although in their hearts they don’t necessarily think that those music and arts are perfect, the emotions carried by these artworks can provide them with supreme blissful sensations.

Soon devils discovered that their masquerade of elegance would allow them to gain more desires, leading to more vibrant and beautiful soul crystals.

Nowadays, devils have forgotten what a terrible appearance they had before Asmodeus became the Lord of Hell.

Back then, not a soul believed the war between Hell’s Primeval devils and the Abyss’s Primeval demons was anything but dogs biting dogs... Ugly fiend versus wicked fiend.

Nobody cared when the war started, what started it, how much damage both sides suffered — endless boring dramas.

If it were a bunch of hyenas fighting, true zoologists or not, who would want to see such a grotesque spectacle full of flesh and blood flying?

But if lions were fighting hyenas, a lot of people would pay attention... And surely more people would stand on the side of the lion.

Regardless of whether it was because the lion wiped out all the hyena cubs.

So reaching this stage now, seeming graceful, acting with some rules, looking decently good, devils obtained more sympathy.

No choice, regardless of race, one’s vision is easily influenced, especially when neither side has much to do with them and just wants to watch the scene unfold.

Hill quietly grabbed the table: if Aislin was the one playing the horn herself, then only one person came to his mind.

The one who could play a charging tune like a horn, making it so melodious and enchanting yet still bearing faint traces of combat desire... Hill thought of the Battle Angel.

The group of angels who followed Asmodeus into a downfall, while loyal, are also proud, thinking their status superior to Primeval devils.

Bisozeya, as the proud Princess of Hell, had a cold relationship with this group of angels, to the extent of not speaking a word, although the main responsibility still lay with her haughtiness, but... the disdain even when these angels kneel in front of her is quite irritating.

Thus, among devils, only one lady could learn the playing skill of Battle Angels.

Asmodeus’s only daughter, Glaysia.

Even if this current Princess of Hell has the blood that they despise in her veins... The Hell Angels always blame Glaysia’s unreasonable attitude on Hell’s Aboriginals... Yet the reason Glaysia grew into the kind of willful, reckless character she did, is partly due to this group’s indulgence and excessive pampering.

That, was truly granting any wish.

Therefore, Glaysia managed to rely on her skill, more so than Bisozeya’s, to become unchallenged in Hell, going anywhere she pleased.

Of course, this group of Battle Angels also has one major weakness... For Glaysia... If Asmodeus spoke up, they could go from smiling indulgently at Princess Glaysia to instantly seizing her and locking her in isolation.

But over the long years, Glaysia indeed learned many things from this group of angels... Even though she worked irregularly at best, time, this dreadful existence, became valuable when her photographic memory overlooked nothing, not even muscle memory.

Hill lightly pressed his forehead, turning to look at Russell and Carpenter: ”Aislin, that troublemaker, is so bothersome.”

No matter, I’ve already avenged my grievances, won’t need to interact with her in the future.

Same goes for you, just ignore her.

The teacher is always perceptive, won’t force us, those with poor relations, to come together.

So... If anyone comes to you to talk nonsense about her, don’t engage.

I’m not interested in power struggles, and I certainly don’t care what dumb things Aislin’s up to... Anyway, the teacher will handle her.

Of course, if Aislin herself goes mad, don’t argue with her, just come to me.

I might find her annoying, but I’m definitely not scared of her, understood?”

Russell, piloting the airship to keep up with the fleet, blinked, quickly responding: ”Yes, Master.”

Rest assured, the two of us won’t get involved with those chaotic affairs.

We still haven’t finished reading our magic book!”

Carpenter, with a puzzled expression, echoed twice... she felt Master Gilbert’s words had multiple layers of meaning, but she didn’t understand them.

She glanced at Russell, realizing her brother likely only grasped part of it.

But his natural response clearly indicated this matter was best left at that.

Carpenter suddenly grinned... She couldn’t help but think of one thing: Their teacher had fallen out with Aislin over Felis.

Therefore, no matter what the Archmage is up to, they and the Hainarson Family could openly remain uninvolved in this.

Especially Master Gilbert, who was highly regarded by Archmage Ruth; if Aislin came looking for him for serious matters, he couldn’t easily brush her off.

After all, it’s business.

However, now, regardless of whether Aislin could swallow her famous elastic face, Gilbert could refuse if he didn’t want to.

Aislin, the Female Mage’s interactions with other mages in the Magic Tower, seemed very mindful.

Yet, when she falls into the so-called love river, she appears not as mindful.

If a mage falls into the same pit repeatedly, then it’s not an accident; it’s willingness.

Otherwise, the techniques of those Male Mages at the Tower of Dark Enigma wouldn’t be so skilled to the point that nobody understands them, why Aislin falls so easily... So, in the end, it all boils down to face.

Carpenter exchanged glances with her brother, both eyes full of relief.

Their teacher’s notorious bad temper, disregarding everyone and insisting on whatever he wanted, was truly wonderful at a time like this!

Otherwise, on this journey to Sia Tower, who knows how much trouble we’d have encountered!

-----------------

Aislin floated mid-air, frowning, glancing at the long queue, the scattered and ragged airships.

The outskirts mages who dared to set off with the fleet in the first wave mostly had a bit of foundation.

But they wouldn’t be too extravagant either. Their own airships aside, the ones transporting apprentices and luggage would naturally be somewhat inferior... Not even second-hand, more like fifth or sixth-hand.

Aislin really detests trouble, especially when considering issues caused by people she normally wouldn’t pay attention to.

The journey she had planned was challenged greatly by these fast-flying yet soon-to-break trash.

However, she couldn’t say anything... When the other two Tower Masters took their people, those following behind probably didn’t even have airships.

Turning to fly toward the red airship at the front of the fleet, Aislin’s mouth curled into a sharp smile.
