Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Does Carpenter need this kind of greeting when making a rapid turn?

She could tell from Russell and Master Gilbert’s conversation that both of them felt there was no problem with controlling the airship in this way.

It’s the classic, ”I can do it, so I do it.”

Completely unaware of how painful it is for the spectators... like those nearby airships that were equally frightened.

Those people didn’t curse out loud only because they dared not... even High-level Mages wouldn’t dare say anything harsh in front of Gilbert, let alone those Intermediate ones nearby, who still hope that in case of trouble, Gilbert might protect them!

No matter whether Mage Aislin had any issues, when arranging the team’s list initially, she responsibly allocated the space around the Seventh Circle Mage for some Intermediate Mages within the Ruth Faction who had no support... Low-rank Mages from the Magic Tower Inner Ring were still attached to their teachers and didn’t need her arrangement.

It’s rare to see someone like Gilbert, who, near the Seven Rings, doesn’t have a few people behind him.

Therefore, those mages scared out of their wits neither have the courage nor the confidence to confront Gilbert; even if they’re frightened to death, they can only console themselves.

Carpenter pressed his forehead and spoke as calmly as possible, ”But, Russell, those people controlling the spaceship nearby don’t know how exquisite your control over spiritual power is.

If it were them flying, they would certainly crash into others.

You understand that, right?

Like when learning spells, what you can understand at a glance takes me a long time to grasp.

The control of the spaceship is the same.

Brother Russell, did you forget... not everyone’s talents are as outstanding as yours.

Please consider the feelings of ordinary people.”

”Ah...” Russell blinked, then spoke with a touch of guilt, ”This kind, if it were you, you could easily do it.

So, I forgot... we...”

His and Russell’s control over spiritual power could entirely make a flower with silk threads... Carpenter just couldn’t make it as exquisite and intricate as Russell.

But she could still achieve it.

After a period without contact with outsiders, Russell almost forgot that not everyone needs to learn spells, bit by bit, thread by thread, with such meticulousness as they do.

Accustomed to overly detailed spiritual power distribution, he had become a master of the data school who, when kicking others away, could exert just the appropriate force, ensuring that his opponent landed 100 meters away and never exceeded 101 meters!

Even Carpenter couldn’t let the opponent fall beyond 105 meters... though still with a slight discrepancy, but after all, the airship is external; it requires some margin, a full 10 meters!

Carpenter wouldn’t run into herself even if she was in a daze.

Then Russell couldn’t help but glance at ’Gilbert’, who looked nonchalant and casually reading the book in his hand... his teacher taught him airship control techniques so effortlessly, as if everyone flying airships could do it!

Again, is it ’thinking everyone can but only he can’?

The only difference from the past is that this time, Russell and Carpenter could do it too... so he could only be deceived, he really thought anyone could do it!

What can Russell say?

What can he do!

Their teacher is... even ordinary people under his eyelids could probably fight ten of them.

Sigh...

Russell shook his head helplessly and smiled slightly at Carpenter, who kept her face turned toward him, refusing to look at their teacher, ”I understand, from now on I’ll be careful, when joining the Traveling Magic Array, I’ll try not to use this method, of course, except in times of danger.

Well... when you can act alone in the future, you also have to try learning some control methods.

If others cannot do it, then when capable you encounter trouble, you will be a bit safer.

In the future... without talking about the future, learning more methods to protect yourself is always right.”

Russell had never thought of letting Carpenter learn this before because he felt Carpenter had better spend her time reading books... his sister’s learning speed is still somewhat slow.

There were still many books unread, and Carpenter’s artistic learning was also a bit challenging, barely mastering the basics of sketching.

This kind of learning beneficial to the Illusion Element requires not only artistic intuition but also ample practice time... those with enough talent certainly progress faster.

However, Russell felt his sister’s drawing talent was probably inferior to her Mage talent.

Even copying a picture didn’t resemble it.

Isn’t it just a pot of grass?

After all these days, aside from the color being right, the rest looks hardly similar.

Russell felt a bit troubled... their teacher providing a book with detailed painting lessons was already good enough, it’s impossible to teach her hand-in-hand.

Really, how come Carpenter didn’t study well in the apprenticeship dormitory back then!

Now compensating is truly troublesome.

Over at Sia Tower, are there people who understand art?

No, wait, in the future can they even interact with those people?

”Teacher...” Russell hesitantly asked, ”When we arrive at Sia Tower, how should we get along with the people on the other side?

Should we maintain relative independence, or need to show a bit of, um, attitude?”

”Just maintain the attitude of the Tower of Dark Enigma,” Hill smiled, ”Wherever you go, you’re members within Archmage Ruth’s faction.

The friendly faction is only this one.

For others, interacting coldly is fine.

Communication is normal, interaction is indifferent.”

Russell asked with some concern, ”But, I still want to learn some art courses along with Carpenter, especially painting...

Archmage Ruth doesn’t seem to have any...”

”In the Tower of Dark Enigma, no one would know that stuff,” Hill affirmed, ”But there must be good teachers on the Sia Tower side.

Let’s stabilize first... always need to arrange housing.

Then I’ll check, inviting a Mid-level Mage proficient in these to teach you.”

Hill wasn’t afraid of any significant problems from Middle-Low Rank Mages in Sia Tower.

Sia Tower constantly requires a large number of normal people who can be dispatched to other magic towers for communication or giving orders year-round.

As for those ’Sia People’ in the magic towers, on the surface, they don’t have a background from Sia Tower.

Even though everyone knows they transformed into power holders in the magic towers with someone’s capital and ability.

Therefore, mages cultivated by Sia Tower itself lack such issues, and they rather favor pure-natured mages who don’t rely on potions but progress through personal advancement.

Such Talented Individuals, upon entering Sia Tower, would receive higher treatment than they originally deserved.

Hill initially didn’t understand why Sia Tower was like this, but after reading many noble family chronicles, he grasped a part: Sia Tower’s abnormality is clearly an issue for Archmages, but for ordinary people, they are considered the strongest on the continent.

Archmages can only ensure control over their own territory, unable to say anything about those scattered small magic towers and nobles across the land... the tacit understanding during such times is actually an unspeakable secret.

Sia Tower didn’t start as strong as it is now, able to destroy anything it wishes.

Asmodeus naturally cleared the World Will, leaving it entirely blank for Bisozeya, violent removal would rather easily leave behind future troubles.

There are enough world-killers, naturally understanding the distinction here.

What he desires is the pure-natured, unpolluted wife, not a Goddess filled with external marks even upon resurrection.

Therefore, even if Sia Tower is indestructible, it cannot suppress the entire world with its own strength; they too need to play some tricks.

Archmages in this world have probably united countless times to resist, even wanting to clean up the magic tower constantly causing trouble... its reflected through history often rewritten.

Just like Tower of Dark Enigma’s strongest, eldest being Ruth.

Though they appear indifferent, aiming only for self-preservation, they haven’t stopped resisting... their defeats don’t require pity, nor disdain.

Even fighting for the future of themselves and loved ones, they offered their life and soul on the altar.

Archmages surely determined after countless sacrifices that Sia Tower is an existence they can only resist but cannot counter.

Asmodeus only instructs devils to proceed gradually, not letting them neglect preserving their existence.

To overturn such enemies... indeed requires acting from their inside.

Hill finds it absolutely possible that Sia Tower holds numerous hidden shadows... they also need new blood.

Sia Tower undoubtedly knows this.

Their advocacy for pure-natured mages is actually the simplest open plot... if you are willing to send such people as spies, they dare to accept them.
