Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Although Ruth exhausted all his willpower to calm himself down and not overthink, he still couldn’t help but pay attention to the Black Robe Mage.

After all, the Pink Robe obviously only knew the result, not the process. After hearing what the White Robe said, his eyes were wider than Oliva’s, who wasn’t very good at hiding his expressions.

This made Ruth more certain of some rumors from the past: The Sia Tower outsiders aim to completely erode their world, needing many ordinary mages to integrate the World Rules into their rule.

Of course, the premise of doing this is the complete collapse of their world’s primordial will... When the World Will completely collapses into nothingness, it indeed causes great disaster, but if a new will can be established swiftly, it might instead encompass the entire world with great merit, bringing it directly into one’s grasp.

Then, whomever this new will favors, especially when this will focuses entirely on a deity, that deity can truly become one with the world.

Though it wouldn’t be to the extent that a single thought could reshape the world, it would undoubtedly allow the world to change attributes according to her ideas.

If she believes the world shouldn’t have such bright light, then... as the world slowly operates, in the distant future, wanting to see the moon might become a luxury for humans.

If she desires the world to head towards dark abysses, then the remnants of human heart’s baselines will naturally follow into despair.

Ruth wasn’t as equally panicked about this result as other Archmages... After all, with his actions, by the time the world reaches that day, his bones would have long turned into the earth’s mud.

Of course, he might not even have a trace of dust left.

And those he cares about would not escape either.

Even Gilbert, who knows a bit of self-preservation, doesn’t have much hope of surviving... Hmm... Ruth couldn’t help but glance at ’Aislin’ from the corner of his eye, shaking his head internally.

Although Gilbert’s face still looked quite delicate now, and because of past pains, he was enveloped in a sense of fragility, combined with the lingering noble aura, which quite matched Aislin’s taste.

But Aislin, after all, had once seen Gilbert’s sickly skeletal appearance... With a mage’s memory, it’s not so easy to forget.

What a pity... Ruth still couldn’t control that absurd yet unshakable association... Otherwise, perhaps their Tower of Dark Enigma might still have a glimmer of hope.

Of course, this wasn’t referring to people, but to legacy.

Ruth felt a bit like pinching himself.

The events recently have been too frequent and dense, causing the usually steady him to daydream often... Perhaps overstimulated, his nerves a little too active?

Ruth tried hard to compose himself, intending to continue talking with the two Sia Eight Rings whose eyes almost sparked fire... The one in pink nearby was almost laughing out loud: Do you Sia people live so carefree?

Such a life even made him envious... Regardless of how much pretense was in their performances, their unwavering and unembarrassed attitudes showed that their frequent fights are genuine.

Three-way battles were also commonplace.

Ruth had quite a high control over the Tower of Dark Enigma, but he would never dare let Nicholson and Kamente Tower confront each other directly; even their students couldn’t be openly and excessively antagonistic.

That would make the Magic Tower environment very poor... the Magic Tower evolved from an independent survival space into a large settlement precisely because only unity allows oneself and one’s little world the possibility of continuing.

Otherwise, mages, especially High-level Mages, wouldn’t always stay in someone else’s domain.

If it were a normal, or even minimally harsh environment, some mages wanting peace would certainly find a place on their own.

Therefore, any Magic Tower would create an ’unified’ atmosphere: only when everyone understands that no matter how much conflict they have with those around them, they all stand on the same side position-wise, can the Magic Tower be sustained.

So, factional fights, while unavoidable, always have a baseline... Of course, this baseline is never about life but about not making a big deal.

Being known to all is the crime... and ’all’ clearly includes both within and outside the Magic Tower.

But on the Sia Tower’s side, clearly, within and outside the Magic Tower are entirely separate worlds... Their attitude wasn’t like this before going to the Tower of Dark Enigma.

But after deciding that the Tower of Dark Enigma would become one of their own, did they completely drop the pretense of their attitude?

How could they be certain that he, Ruth... ah, as a Ninth Ring Mage, wouldn’t easily gossip, but his students and followers have no such obligation to cover up for the Sia Tower.

Let alone, that flaw is likely to be a fatal weakness of the Sia Tower... They clashed so blatantly; how could the Wise Ones not think of sowing discord among them?

And whether the people of the Tower of Dark Enigma are willing to become subordinate to the Sia Tower, this group of people surely wouldn’t be unaware?

Then, what kind of confidence does the Sia Tower have to think that the people of the Tower of Dark Enigma would truly take the Sia Tower as their own?

A hint of different expression flashed in his eyes.

Oliva tilted his head... Today’s teacher seemed to have more expressions and a bit more visible.

Usually, their teacher’s eyes were as deep as a lake, almost devoid of any motion... Only when he wanted others to feel his anger would that lake ripple.

But today, just in a short while, that lake was almost evaporated, turning into a shallow pond... everything could be seen.

Oliva quietly and quickly retreated two steps, positioning himself parallel to Aislin... This woman, not knowing what madness was in her, had been hiding behind the left sofa since she came in.

So, the right sofa was his.

Oliva was genuinely worried that at some moment, due to the teacher’s ever-changing expressions, he might have feelings he shouldn’t, and thereby attracting some distant gaze attention... Their teacher brewing like this would definitely not be for the sake of these three present.

Not even three sentences in, these individuals didn’t know how many performances they had enacted... Oliva couldn’t help but turn to glance at Aislin, who seemed lost in thought, as if her soul was wandering elsewhere, deeply missing the past her.

If it were the real Aislin, how could she be so quiet, surely she’d rush forward to have an enjoyable word game with them.

Especially with that little white robe, even knowing he wasn’t someone she could touch, Aislin would absolutely seize the moment to say something ambiguous and intriguing to amuse herself.

With her around, Master Ruth would be a bit more relaxed in facing such complex situations.

Unlike him, where in such times, remaining silent was the greatest help to the teacher.

’Aislin’ of course wasn’t oblivious to people occasionally stealing glances at her.

Ruth and Oliva were within her expectation, but the other three guys were curiously watching her too.

If she hadn’t been sure that her real self would never be dumb enough to spread her affairs, she might have thought everyone knew she was also Glaysia!

She never anticipated she would already be regarded by the Sia Tower’s Eight Rings as a bomb ready to explode at any moment... Happy exploring the internal struggle while calmly cooperating, trying to uncover the backstory of this famous madwoman from the Tower of Dark Enigma!

Ruth only gradually realized what was going on when these few people, having said all the necessary words, continued staying around politely, facing him with indifference yet strong personal thoughts.

Compared to him, who had long been researched by the Sia Tower for hundreds of years, the apparently recent issues with Aislin were clearly of greater interest to them.

Taking a look at ’Aislin’, who hadn’t figured out why she attracted so much attention from the Sia Tower just upon arrival, Ruth almost couldn’t suppress a sigh... though watching the others discord internally was quite amusing too.

But if their many years of effort were defeated by such...

No!

He suddenly shivered... How did he suddenly drop his guard against ’Aislin’?

Like such old monsters who’ve lived for countless years, the surface never represents their true self, hasn’t he known that from the start?

Yet, he would still be deceived by ’Aislin’s occasional foolishness into thinking she genuinely had foolish moments?

What’s going on?

Does this lady carry with her some sort of... Halo?
