Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1752: Chapter 329: Did That Cactus Just Move?

Hill pondered for a while, then stared intently at the cactus… Apart from its level, which barely counts as high among plants, its energy is indeed abundant, but it’s not particularly special.

It hasn’t evolved to a level where it can transform into a Treant.

In the desert, plants rarely expand in size.

Most of the energy they possess beyond survival is sent downward.

Even if they become slightly larger due to their species, the roots remain the focus.

Even for a cactus, which stores a bit of water within its trunk, it prioritizes sending energy downward.

This cactus is clearly on the verge of evolution, with the edges of its long thorns emitting a menacing metallic luster, clearly very sturdy.

Although it’s effective against ordinary creatures, it’s clearly powerless against its natural enemy, the Night Butterfly.

Even in terms of fire, its defensive power falls short.

Of course, an ordinary fireball won’t even scorch the cactus’s skin, but at the moment, the courtyard is filled with various combustible materials… I’m referring to the white spider webs hanging in every corner.

Before hiding herself, Rose summoned a large number of small spiders.

These ordinary animal-level spiders can be summoned endlessly by her and commanded with ease.

Thus, during Gaia and Asmodeus’s collision game, these spiders exhausted their life force… Spiders can’t endlessly shoot webs from their silk glands, but can convert their life force into venom within the silk glands… covering the entire courtyard, and even the walls of some buildings outside, with spider webs.

Though Hill didn’t know why the Lord of Hell completely ignored Rose’s actions, he was keenly aware that neither of them harbors good intentions.

Let’s see who ultimately succeeds.

As for cooperation, Rose would never show even the slightest goodwill to the Bottomless Abyss, at least to her current greatest enemy, at such a public moment.

But a brief, silent cooperation that doesn’t require speaking, benefiting after setting a trap for someone else is acceptable.

The Abyssal Will is extremely chaotic, yet it has its own set of judgment standards… And those Demon Lords often reveal some colleagues’ mistakes while making sacrifices to him.

So, Demon Lords who don’t want to suddenly lose their territory wouldn’t dare do anything that could cause the Abyssal Will to misunderstand them.

No Abyssal Lord can possibly be without enemies.

Besides, not being an enemy doesn’t mean they won’t trap him?

Peers, especially those vying for power with oneself, are always the biggest enemies.

Sometimes enemies don’t need to be eliminated as urgently as competitors of the same type.

Rather than directly confronting her or doing anything about Rose, Asmodeus is clearly prepared to use her, possibly because after gaining divinity, the Lord of Hell realized the true capabilities of deities, and his hatred for Heavenly Mountain instantly surpassed his decades-long battle against the neighboring Bottomless Abyss.

No matter how much he understands deities’ capabilities, those subtle yet more fundamental differences still bewilder Asmodeus.

Hence, when the Heavenly Mountain Gods restricted angels to battles instead of fighting personally, lest the mountain collapses, he somewhat trusts the notion, as he’s never managed to completely control the nine layers of hell.

Before being tainted by endless battles with Abyssal Demons, Asmodeus was once the most beautiful Battle Angel on Heavenly Mountain… Those angels who twisted their minds following him into Hell were also, indeed, beings surpassing mortals, even more beautiful than the Seraphs of the Elf Deity System.

For they were truly formed from the Positive Energy of Heavenly Mountain, unlike the past lies claimed by the God of Order, which were so convincing that even they believed… Battle Angels were created through their Divine Power, another combat-focused version of them.

Just because the forms differed, as more diverse Battle Angels emerged, they gradually gained autonomy.

In their eyes, these angels were clones created using the personality and genes of the God of Order.

Many believe this notion because the original Battle Angels were blank slates, unlike Natural Gods who knew everything from birth.

Much of what they knew was instilled by the God of Order.

But the moment Asmodeus grasped the essence of Divinity and Divinity, he clearly understood the matter.

In a sense, Battle Angels are the true original owners of Heavenly Mountain.

Even without the intervention of the God of Order, they would eventually be born.

Though Hill couldn’t grasp Asmodeus’s feelings, he understood why this figure decided to ally with the Abyss the moment he consumed Azuth, to defeat those Heavenly Mountain folks first.

Though he hasn’t fully awakened and remains confused about Divinity and Divinity, the original energy possessed by the God of Prophecy, elevated through special means, could be basically counted as nonexistent.

Yet he surely comprehended something.

Therefore, at this moment, Asmodeus, who has always acted ruthlessly against the Bottomless Abyss, obviously plans to act unlike before… The last agreement with Heavenly Mountain, he always adhered to, ‘No matter what he eventually becomes, the Bottomless Abyss remains their greatest enemy forever,’ the Lord of Hell likely found a way to break this promise.

Though if the strength were equal, in a sense, Rose and Asmodeus are evenly matched, each having their merits.

So Hill quickly shifted his attention back to the cactus and Night Butterfly.

With the large screen broadcasting, what could this butterfly still be doing here?

He sighed melancholically, his hands weaving the metal strands momentarily stopping.

Hill clearly knew that the reason the Undead Tribe always exceeded his expectations in their approaches was due to differing intentions.

Players of the Game of Humanity always find the interesting aspects… Even if it’s a vine thinner than wild grass, they’d attempt seeing if it could be used to climb up cliffs.

Whereas those living in reality would always choose a flatter path that won’t get them killed.

Yet Hill hoped to see a bit more himself, after all… If he could adopt the style of the Undead Tribe, his future journey would surely be smooth.

Now at this stage, Hill couldn’t return home even if he wanted a rest.

Sigh… What world would welcome Hill next?

A world similar to Toril?

That wouldn’t mean much to him either!

Additionally, it’s a bit too dangerous.

Hill slumped on the chair, melancholically asking the steward, directing the Puppets to sort out the scattered strands: “I say, List, where do you think the next world welcoming my presence is… hmm?”

“Ah~” List hesitated for several seconds before tentatively asking, “Aber?”

Hill abruptly turned to mockingly stare at the Tower Spirit beside him: “Tsk, List, has it been so long since we’ve met that you plan to pour all the spite out at once?”

“That place is quite suitable for you, sir.” List answered earnestly, “After all, neither Dragon nor Primordial can harm you.

Besides being affected by the Weave… But that can’t possibly harm you, right?”

Edna is still crouching in the center of the Weave!

Hill going to Toril now is undoubtedly the safest time.

In time, who knows if Edna might get influenced by the Weave, making it more unsafe… past friends turning into powerful enemies is undoubtedly the most troublesome situation.

Though Hill believes Edna could persevere for long, as the girl’s Undead Tribe characteristics are quite robust, well-aware of her capabilities and limitations, yet anything can occur in that peculiar place.

Therefore, the ‘Old Age Striking King’ opted to return to Teraxil when Toril briefly opened, stashing something within Hill’s valley.

Hill was somewhat startled upon receiving the news; those two trusted him so dearly.

In his domain, Hill certainly knows what’s placed there!

Otherwise, List wouldn’t be so confident that Hill wouldn’t be restricted by the Weave when he returns to Toril.

“Hmm?” He abruptly turned his gaze to the giant screen, “Did that cactus just move slightly?”
