Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1732: Chapter 309: There Are Always Those Who Grow Old

’Battlefield Lightning’ hesitated for a moment, then turned to ask his friend, ”Is that your sister?

Last time, didn’t you say she was crying to your mom, saying she’d rather wait for complete death in the void than be controlled by the devil, just wanting to return to the Styx?”

’Night Slumber Treading Flames’, who had been playing dead, couldn’t help but let out a cold laugh.

Ted wiped his forehead in despair, ”My friend, sometimes your straightforwardness can really make the pain worse.”

’Battlefield Lightning’ finally got the disconnected string in his head to connect... He just didn’t like to think, but he could figure things out if he tried.

Then he patted Ted on the shoulder heavily, ”My friend, let go of the past. Anyway, now it’s you who calls the shots in your family, at least on the surface.

Take your people and live well!

Your parents aren’t planning to take your stuff and give it away, at most they’re just trying to make some use of their remaining influence, don’t be discouraged.

At least Lind loves you more.”

Before Ted could reply, ’Night Slumber Treading Flames’ couldn’t hold it anymore and hissed, like he had a toothache, ”I say, Lightning, can you not just use half your brain?

And it’s the half that hits your friend’s sore spot.”

’Battlefield Lightning’ spread his hands with an innocent look, ”I know what you’re saying.

Ted is unhappy because his parents want to use his friendship with me, but my friend stuck to his position!

It’s not like I care about his parents, who cares what they think?”

Ted laughed helplessly.

He certainly understood that ’Battlefield Lightning’ was never stupid, otherwise, he wouldn’t have avoided major losses.

That’s why he’s more upset... Ted must have warned his parents long ago that his Undead friends aren’t fools, a rough appearance doesn’t mean he doesn’t understand human affairs, a broad mind doesn’t mean he’ll forever forgive.

Lightning just doesn’t guard against those he trusts.

However, the chance to use their friendship is a one-time deal.

Once Ted truly acts out of self-interest, their friendship will end completely.

However, his parents, who had promised him they wouldn’t try to use his friendship, still harbored ulterior motives.

If, just now, Ted was overly concerned about his parents and rushed to the military camp with them?

Indeed, the people in the camp would have fared much better, perhaps even unscathed... After all, the first target of the Moon Clan would definitely be the Undead Tribe.

And most importantly... if Ellie was resurrected under the watch of the Proud Sky Alliance and they refrained from acting against her for Ted’s sake, then when they return to the Capital, could they claim that Ellie and the Gaia behind her have reconciled with the Undead Tribe?

Ted doesn’t think he’s overthinking.

It’s obvious that the Night Slumber Clan Leader sent over by ’Snow Cloud Peak’ also thought of this... so if he had really acted impulsively, Lightning would likely have been pulled back.

The other side had already made the best plan.

Only his parents still didn’t understand what the real status of the Undead Tribe or, let’s say, the Proud Sky Alliance was.

Also, the Undead Tribe in Eden always proclaims that under their Alliance Hierarch’s wise leadership, the Proud Sky Alliance could only flee... Although the Basia People actually don’t quite believe it, deep down they always feel their capabilities are about the same.

And these people, in the eyes of his parents, definitely aren’t that clever... The intrigue and scheming are even more than among the Nobles.

Most importantly, they like to harm others without benefiting themselves.

Nobles find it hard to understand this approach and can’t help but despise them internally.

So, even though Ted keeps reminding them not to equate the Proud Sky Alliance with Eden, his parents, including other Nobles, always, more or less, discount his words.

Nobles have never been afraid of strong combatants, they only fear those stronger than themselves who are cunning and shrewd.

Ted gazed tightly in the direction of Basia City, clenching his fist... His parents always act according to that so-called noble code and feel they can understand their plight... But, times have changed!

This is no longer a world only for Nobles.

’Battlefield Lightning’ observed Ted’s expression, then looked nonchalantly at ’Night Slumber Treading Flames’, ”Ellie is kinda like a cockroach that won’t die!

Really knows how to sneak through cracks in the wall.

But... a cockroach is just a cockroach, what can it do besides disgust people who care about that thing?”

Even Gaia lost so badly when she made a move herself!

Do that bunch of Nobles really think just because Hill went to the Heavenly Realm, Ellie and Gaia can make a comeback?

Aesces is still watching from above!

’Battlefield Lightning’ scratched his head, puzzled, and cautiously asked the cold-faced Night Slumber Clan Leader, ”Hey~ Tayan, why can they ignore the feelings of the World Master?

Aesces obviously dislikes Gaia! Even willing to temporarily reconcile with Triton just to deal with her!”

Ted spoke softly, ”That’s because of the World Master’s will.”

”What... does it mean?”

”I may have become so familiar with your Undead Tribe, and with Lind present, I have a clear understanding of recent events, so I don’t experience that feeling like my thoughts are shrouded in a veil.

But many people experience some illusions... very strange illusions.

Nowadays, they act completely disregarding the will of the deities. Each temple, apart from providing aid to the poor, doesn’t interfere in the actions of nobles and the Royal Family at all.

My parents, when engaging in such matters in the past, would actually probe the attitude of the Rune Master Temple, but lately, they haven’t even thought about this at all.

That’s why Ellie, the powerful Ellie, weighs more and more in their hearts.”

’Night Slumber Treading Flames’ glanced at him: ”Regardless of whether Aesces intends to test people’s hearts or not, you can’t deny that your parents always make the wrong choices.

Like this time, if they hadn’t tried to use us, whether Ellie resurrects is something we wouldn’t have really cared about.

After all, striving for personal gain, there’s nothing difficult to understand.”

”Yes, it’s just greed.” Diet interjected, ”Wanting everything, but in the end, even what’s in one’s hand flies away.”

He said this as he watched Ted, who was walking behind Doni.

The old butler could only smile bitterly and nod at the current Count Stelter.

He had actually advised the Earl not to treat all of the Undead Tribe as the same, but in these two years, that so-called battlefield victor, Eden, had truly given his family head too much confidence.

The Earl chose to receive those moving to the Capital only after realizing Diet did not follow, a decision made out of feeling his eldest son’s dissatisfaction belatedly.

This subtle apology seems to be something Young Master Diet is no longer willing to accept.

However, Ted felt a bit puzzled... actually, all the Earl’s actions remain unchanged, but... ever since the day the Undead Tribe appeared, they’ve always been ticking the wrong answer.

Therefore, as the Earl said, rather than staying here analyzing the nature of the Undead Tribe and learning how to deal with their myriad differences, it’s better to choose the battlefield they’re more familiar with in the Capital.

It’s just a pity they made another mistake before leaving.

Ted looked at his biological son who began organizing Knight Corps members willing to follow Diet to leave, thinking of the father-son conversation before coming... Are they really so old they can’t keep up with the times?

Then, he quietly glanced at Diet, who entirely ignored him, engrossed in communicating with those two Undead Knight Commanders... Young Master Diet seems to have completely given up on his feelings for Miss Ellie.

Ted smiled wryly, reminiscent of how the Count and Countess decisively abandoned Lind back then.

In some sense, it’s quite fair.

Ellie’s resurrection, in the eyes of the Undead Tribe, simply faded away.

Although some members’ families chose safety, Diet and his knights understand, after all, without witnessing the battles at Cain Valley firsthand, ordinary people can hardly comprehend why the Undead Tribe on Basia’s side can fight to a... stalemate, yet have deities participate and still live peacefully in Cain Valley.

Moreover, upon entering the valley, they were indeed given a scare.

The massive Sea Goddess continuously waved her trident, taunting Triton, inviting him to the seaside for a one-on-one fight.

Diet didn’t understand and was greatly shocked... after all, being on good terms with the Undead Tribe, he knows Ambori and Triton have a large gap in Divine Power.

Fortunately, ’Battlefield Lightening’ and his companion’s dialogue pulled back his racing thoughts.

”Though cunning can never be overlooked in warfare, Triton probably doesn’t truly believe Ambori wishes to engage him one-on-one, right?”

”She’s just calling out for fun, if Triton really is stupid enough to believe, then all the better.

Besides, she isn’t exactly lying.

During Doomsday, that boss, while the Moon Clan first fought Basia, spent money hiring people to further strengthen his fortress.

Coming here still gives him a target to test power.”

”Oh... indeed, that also counts as one-on-one; automatically launching weapons can’t be considered someone else intervening!

The young master hasn’t reacted?”

”Their forts are already twelve floors high; the Old Dog doesn’t allow them to expand further.”

”What? Then what do we do? Haven’t they thought about the neighbors’ feelings?

You just look?”

”Is it your Battlefield that can fork out the funds or my Night Slumber with that money?

Having spare money, wouldn’t it be better to buy hay for horses?

Don’t compare wealth with the extravagant.”

Diet quickly understood why his friend roared... behind the massive Sea Goddess stood two forts almost as tall as her.

Above one fort, some people even cheered for Amborriga.

Whereas ’Battlefield Lightening’ pulled him towards the one located on the other side of the city gate, belonging to his family; despite its height of six floors, it seemed dwarfed in comparison like Dwarves’ houses.
