Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1729: Chapter 306: The Vanished Basia City

”Doesn’t she need to reconsider her own position?” Lind showed a mocking smile.

”What do you mean?” ’Susu’ blinked, thinking hard, ”Wasn’t it said that her soul has already been trapped?”

”Bound within that body.” Lind smirked, ”But during this resurrection and reformation, since it’s her soul that assimilated with the element, the core can only be rebuilt around her.”

”So, she’s now in a phase where she can resurrect at any time but is unwilling to do so, right?” ’Snow Cloud Peak’ understood, ”If she sincerely regrets it, like when she sought help from your parents back then, she shouldn’t choose to resurrect.

But do you think she’ll choose wrongly again?”

”She’s always been someone who loves herself deeply.” Lind’s eyes lowered, staring at the ground, ”Faced with eternal downfall, she’d undoubtedly rather choose to enter Styx.

But when faced with eternal death, she might want to see more of the world.

After all, she’s already certain she won’t sell her soul to the devil, hasn’t she?

Hill has gone to the Heavenly Realm; that promise, Gaia could never fulfill.”

”It seems, in your hearts, Aesces’s Heavenly Realm is quite beautiful.” ’Snow Cloud Peak’ said thoughtfully.

”Not necessarily beautiful.” Lind shook his head, ”My teacher, Mr. Yanos, once mentioned some things.

Initially, over three hundred Great Sages went to the Heavenly Realm, and after tens of thousands of years, it seems the number hasn’t changed much.

But that place is within the Divine Realm of the World Master, foreign enemies certainly find it hard to enter.”

’Snow Cloud Peak’ immediately understood his meaning and couldn’t help laughing: ”But this time, Great Sage Ismael can bring three hundred people up there, right?

Tsk~

Really, people below are anxious, and those above are quite panicked too!

We don’t even know if Hill will still have a chance to watch the show at ease.

Tsk tsk, the guests keep arriving, don’t they?”

”Why aren’t you talking about Ellie anymore?” ’Susu’ couldn’t understand why these two suddenly changed the topic, yet she was still wondering!

”Use your brain!” ’Snow Cloud Peak’ said in a tone of exasperation, ”Since her soul certainly won’t be devoured by the devil, Ellie definitely hopes to die as late as possible!

Now, with such a good reason for her to swallow back all those regretful words from a while ago, she’ll surely seize the opportunity!”

”Ah...” ’Susu’ turned to glance southward, belatedly understanding why Lind stopped worrying once he confirmed the Proud Sky Alliance had someone looking after Ditte’s safety.

Ellie surely doesn’t value Ditte that much, but she’ll definitely resurrect from the flames when the former Count and Countess are in danger.

What a beautiful reason, even if she’ll be controlled by the Evil God again, this time she’s doing it to protect her parents.

Even those previously criticized past faults seem a little less dark now!

No wonder Lind only focused on his brother’s safety.

Ah, naturally, he wouldn’t completely ignore his parents... After all, if the Count and Countess Stelter were alive, he, the split family’s son, would still be the son of the Family Head, which would be somewhat helpful when going out.

Being the Family Head’s brother, even if he has a great relationship with his brother, there would still be some subtle differences.

Moreover, the actual power of the Stelter family is still in the hands of the former Count!

The aristocratic system is just that bothersome... If his dear father’s connections haven’t fully transferred to Ditte, and he truly dies, it would mean a tremendous loss.

When they were handling some trivial matters in the capital as the Undead Tribe, they also noticed this point.

Luckily, those nobles wouldn’t impose these stupid rules on them.

’Susu’ blinked suddenly: she was beginning to understand Lind’s mindset more and more!

Could it be because she’s spent too much time dealing with Great Eunuch Lu?

-----------------

”I estimate if Basia City is too severely destroyed, my brother will bring people here.” Lind suddenly spoke.

”Hmm? Just your brother and his subordinates?” ’Snow Cloud Peak’ was a bit surprised.

”My parents will certainly take Ellie to the capital.” Lind shook his head, ”Guarding Basia City is Count Stelter’s responsibility, but not Chieftain Stelter’s.

They used to stay because there were many family assets in Basia City.

But now... With the Moon Clan outside and Eden inside, those two groups, they are equally annoying.

If they rely on Eden to rebuild, they, hehe~ surely think they can turn Basia City into another Cain Valley!

But if they don’t want to rely on them, how do they rebuild?

There’s still war going on, isn’t there?”

In this situation, wise ones would naturally choose to leave.

With Ellie’s protection, they could indeed find a more suitable opportunity amid the chaos in the capital.

In any case, the only one who must stay in the territory is Count Stelter himself.

And the best part is, regardless of what Count Stelter may encounter in the future, at least his survival is not at risk.

Although this might be a bit harsh, nobles are inherently such creatures... the continuation of the family and one’s own glory are the most important.

Even though the Count and Countess Stelter place great importance on their eldest son, Ditte, he is also the Chieftain of the Stelter Family, and he will consider the petitions from family members seriously.

”Your father, if he really does this, wouldn’t it be...” Susu, on the side, was a bit confused, ”Any child would...”

”Ditte will definitely agree with my father’s choice.” Lind responded earnestly, ”My brother is just a slightly better noble in terms of character, but he wouldn’t place emotions above responsibility.

Their difference is just a matter of style in doing things, not the principles behind it.

For both of them, this is the best path for the family.

If the Stelter Family can take this opportunity to find a way to survive in the capital, it would certainly be much better than having the entire family tied to Basia City.

At least next time when a similar crisis occurs, the whole family won’t be doomed together.”

Snow Cloud Peak nodded: ”Though you don’t like it, you understand.”

”I only hate that the one being abandoned is me.” Lind said straightforwardly.

”Indeed.” Snow Cloud Peak scratched their head, ”But can Ellie go to your capital?”

”Nobles are the best at playing dumb, especially now with no king to speak of, who would want to use their power to do something for the good of the people?” Lind sneered, ”Even if everyone knows she’s in cahoots with the one locked in Ismael Manor, heh~

No one would take the initiative against a strong person who hasn’t shown hostility towards them, especially if that strong person belongs to the Evil Faction.”

Thinking for a moment, he added, ”Unless the World Master issues a divine will in the name of the Master of Runes.”

The Master of Runes, in fact, has never been concerned with matters outside of divinity.

It’s usually Aesces, who dislikes being celebrated, issuing orders under his name.

”Wait a minute...” Susu thought she would surely be called ’fool’, but she indeed couldn’t figure out some things.

After all, Old Dog would just curse easily, and she didn’t care.

For Lind, as a bystander, it was even less necessary to mind... he could now naturally choose whether to avoid or walk through the middle when faced with dozens of undead tribe members in a shouting match.

”So why are you all determined that Ellie can go?” Susu asked in a low voice, ”Wasn’t she unable to leave the seaside before?

Why can she leave after resurrection?”

”Your brain...” Snow Cloud Peak was just about to scold, but upon seeing the curious look of Qiuqiu, who had just reacted to Susu’s question, suddenly calmed down, ”Forget it, still a bit smarter than Dumb Ball.”

Qiuqiu sneered, ”Heh~ Why would I need to use my brain if I’m following you?”

”That Princess of Danboro truly died.” Snow Cloud Peak helplessly turned back, ”Gaia needs someone who can work for her inland.

Moreover, only if her Goddess of the Sea doesn’t show up, will Triton truly fight Ambori to the death.”

”Didn’t he just fall out with us?” Susu asked in astonishment, ”Do you mean to say that if that thing shows up, Triton would come... to negotiate?

His face...?”

”Greek Deities have no face, including Athena and the others.” Snow Cloud Peak said decisively, ”So when Gaia realizes she’s not as strong as she thought, she’ll definitely distance herself from the sea for the time being.

She knows what her family is like.”

”Really...what a wicked bunch!” Qiuqiu concluded with utmost emotion.

”As long as they don’t leave their territory, and their territory hasn’t fallen into hostile hands, the lord can temporarily live at a neighbor’s house.” Lind brought the topic back, ”My brother will definitely come to me.

Only here, the other members of the Stelter Family will not possibly follow.”

That’s true.

Snow Cloud Peak understood and nodded: those people dare not come here, not because of any past offenses to Lind, but because it depends on whether Lind is a vindictive person.

The Stelter Family likely won’t dare believe Lind is a broad-minded good person.

”He’s got a long wait ahead.” The Perfect Bald who had been silent in the corner lightly interjected, ”Is he planning to wait until Eden retreats?”

Lind smiled slightly, ”Mr. Lu Huayu told me yesterday during a chat that those guys are left with only a dead end.”

Snow Cloud Peak returned his smile, ”Death will certainly come, but the time might not be short.”

Lind was in a daze for a few seconds, then spoke resolutely, ”My brother is still young! What’s there to fear!”

-----------------

Sitting on the terrace, Hill let out a soft sigh.

”What’s the matter, sir?” List leaned over and inquired.

Hill glanced at the giant screen where Ditte was directing civilians to take refuge at the out-of-town base, and the former Count Stelter was standing with his guard between the crowd and the battling undead tribe and moon clan: ”Basia City, it’s just gone like that.”
