Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1593: Chapter 171: The Insect Lord

’Hard Wind’ picked up his tablet and suddenly started reading out loud: ”If there were a god for beetles with thorns, scorpions, or other deadly insects, it must be the Lord of Insects.

...

The Lord of Insects, it’s in Earth Tribe language.

Am I wrong?”

”Why not ask Hill?” the ’Old Age Striking King’ said lazily, ”He probably knows better why Aesces doesn’t find these winged scorpions strange, while you all are guessing nonsense!”

”A Lord of Insects below Level 20 doesn’t really pose much disaster to the Earth System world.” Hill, who was approached by the Undead Tribe, couldn’t help but laugh, ”They do bring plague and death, but they won’t leave the desert to live; the only place they might approach is the oasis in the desert.

Most importantly, Earth-related professions can communicate with them... The Lord of Insects is orderly neutral; they don’t necessarily have to kill humans. For them, killing humans is no different from killing cattle or sheep.

If someone can mediate, then there’s no problem.

In Aesces’s eyes, a Low Rank Lord of Insects is just an Earth System creature that appears with the desert, and even if they do appear, they won’t surpass his world restrictions.”

”But isn’t he quite concerned about humans?” ’Snow Cloud Peak’ was a bit puzzled, ”If there’s a Lord of Earth in the desert and a locust plague on the human side, even with crystalline energy as aid, humans would suffer huge losses, right?”

”For the World Master, in his world, the protagonists can be humans or insects.” Hill hesitated a bit before replying, ”If it’s the result of natural evolution, he won’t intervene proactively.

Triton was an external invasion, so he actively resisted.

His extensive intervention after the external invasion inadvertently accelerated human technology and development, which leaves him a bit confused.

For human development to pass healthily, he has to keep intervening, and then, because of his actions, inevitably the world can’t form a virtuous cycle.

Currently, Aesces is actually in a very awkward situation.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t hate the Goddess of the Sea so much... If Triton is a thorn in his throat, then the Goddess of the Sea is truly the one he must eliminate.

He’s even willing to cooperate with Triton for that.

So, if this world can get through this disaster without needing a restart, then he doesn’t have to continue planning humanity’s future by hand as he used to.”

’Snow Cloud Peak’ blinked... finally understanding why Hill was so hesitant and unsure in his words.

Basically, Aesces messed around too much and now doesn’t want to play anymore, right?

What complete letting go!

It’s just letting the insect plague wash over the world; how much technology and wealth the survivors can keep will be up to them... Anyway, with the help of the Undead Tribe, as long as humans aren’t too greedy, surviving the insect plague should be doable.

But afterward?

The Undead Tribe surely won’t give them food for free, right?

After seeing the disposition and temperament of the Undead Tribe, not many people in this world would likely risk finding out if they’d have a Holy Mother’s heart moment.

This would inevitably lead to all that mineral wealth appearing in the world due to Aesces letting go, ending up with the Undead Tribe.

And for the Undead Tribe, who plan to visit other worlds in the future, they’d likely cash in on all sorts of things before leaving... The easiest being gold.

And the World Master of the Earth System knows well how much gold he can generate to trade stuff, ’Snow Cloud Peak’ is aware of this.

Could he possibly be worse than Hill?

Even if they lean towards Hill, they wouldn’t think their Little Bear could surpass these great Divine Power.

Otherwise, Hill wouldn’t be retreating so often.

He pursed his lips and tentatively asked Hill: ”But Rose is around~ I recall, whether in the Abyss or Hell, she seems to have quite a connection with some, um, insect-related evil creatures?”

”That’s Aesces’s own issue~” Hill said calmly, ”If he wants to venture out himself, then if he gets used, it’s his own to bear.”

The meaning in Hill’s words was clear to ’Snow Cloud Peak’ in an instant.

If Aesces still gets exploited by those Hell or Abyss creatures at this point, then he’s really... beyond saving.

But by Hill’s attitude towards those he still considers approachable, he doesn’t express such coldness.

Which means, basically, Aesces already knows where the exploits in his domain are, or may have already been exploited.

But right now, due to some issue, he doesn’t want to fix it.

Perhaps it’s still due to the world’s progress.

So, this adventure-loving World Master plans to fix all past lingering issues at once, including the mess Rose left?

What if it fails?

A boiling point?

’Snow Cloud Peak’ frowned and asked, ”Is he, really...”

Then he closed his mouth, turned his head toward the poor Baron Castle with only a tiny bit of light at the top, and suddenly sighed: ”Deities, really are terrifying creatures!

Hmm... even for Lind, I also hope he can live like a person.”

He emphasized the word ’live’, clearly understanding Aesces’ all-or-nothing mindset.

But he completely disagreed.

The Danboro people indeed have some strange attributes.

But this strangeness, wasn’t it due to Aesces’ own negligence that they became like this?

Wasn’t Ismael also brought by him?

And then he wants to break the pot after burning the dish?

How can that be... even if you give up and smash the pot, it should be your own pot!

Then he quickly realized: for the World Master, these human lives are hardly different from his broken pot.

Then he let out a long sigh: ”Ah... Thank goodness this is a game, otherwise, I would really want to... slaughter...”

”What are you saying?” Hill asked calmly.

”I said, luckily this isn’t our world, right?” ’Snow Cloud Peak’ turned with a smile, ”Luckily the Goddess of the Earth, Teraxil, is a great woman both persistent and gentle.

No wonder she’s an elder of Hill!”

Even when the world was falling apart and the human deities were foolish in those years, she never considered reshuffling the entire world, but instead, she slept while finding ways to save it.

Although it might also be because the Goddess of the Earth wasn’t that powerful, at least she was always working to patch things up rather than totally give up.

During his time in Toril, ’Snow Cloud Peak’ gained some insight into the Wild Gods who abandoned their imminent-doom worlds and fled.

Although many Wild Gods became disasters of the universe, those with some real skills were still accepted by some worlds.

And for the Goddess of the Earth, who has the backing of the World Tree, there’s even less to worry about.

Hill smiled: ”That’s different.”

Teraxil cannot restart her world, she’s still too young, still growing, and needs a long time to integrate the entire universe into herself.

”I know it’s different, but at least she wouldn’t do such things now.” ’Snow Cloud Peak’ replied earnestly.

”Indeed.” Hill could admit this point readily.

”Then I’ll still proceed with my plans!” facing Hill, who knew some of the truth, ’Snow Cloud Peak’ spoke frankly, ”Anyway, I care more about our own affairs than this world’s future.

It’s just...”

He sighed lightly: ”My pride still won’t let me watch those innocent people die in vain!

To die because of war is one thing, but because... it’s too tragic, everyone in the world has to die... Tch~

What a thought~

Forget it, I don’t think William would be so malicious.

I believe what he devised may lack virtue, but not morality.”

He stretched lazily and asked Hill with a grin: ”Hill, can the bread tree from Toril grow in this world?

And do you have seeds?

Can I get a discount?”

Hill took out a High-level Seed Pouch... after coming to Toril, he learned how to make this tool designed for Druids, mainly because it can separately enhance various abilities of seeds, unlike the Demigod Seed Pouches of Teraxil, which can only enhance all seed characteristics comprehensively but with unfixed proportions, making the result quite random.

Although Hill’s luck was pretty good, and the seed pouch often evolved according to his wishes, he still preferred evolution rules that he could control.

Fortunately, although most Druid factions of the Toril Elves had long fallen, those located in Northern Ferun had left their mark on many ancient plants along with some basic divine arts heritage books.

What Hill lacked before was just the basics, so now he can make seed pouches with various functions according to his desires.

He waved the pouch in his hand: ”No matter what seeds I encounter, I’ll first cultivate them into high-quality basic seeds, and then nurture them according to various functions. This pouch contains them; quantity over quality.

The taste is average, but a single bread tree can provide enough food for 1,000 people.”

Hill opened the pouch and took out thousands of seeds: ”But before you do this, it’s best to communicate with Aesces.

Even though my seeds won’t generally cause the bad situation of species invasion, Aesces might be sensitive to these things.

Furthermore...”

Hill smiled: ”He might have other ideas.”

Such as cultivating his own Goddess of Agriculture or something.

Aesces doesn’t yet have the ability to completely integrate power into himself, nor does he want humanity to concentrate their faith on him, so he prefers to use the gods to isolate these troubles.

He wouldn’t want humanity, in the midst of disaster, to create a faith god on their own... and disaster has always been the source of deity creation.
