I Am Scouted by Real Madrid

Chapter 771: Chapter 39: Nicknames and Considerations (Part 2)

Due to contract issues, this German player who signed a long-term deal has almost fallen to the bottom layer of the locker room salary wise.

If he doesn’t get loaned out in the future to prove himself again, then this label will accompany him for a long time in the foreseeable future.

Another very vivid nickname belongs to defender Albiol, who is called ”Sausage”—this nickname was given to him by Spain National Team’s goalkeeper Reina and carried on into Real Madrid, not because Albiol loves sausages, but because when people first see his physique, they naturally think of ”sausage.”

Speaking of which, Albiol’s situation within the Real Madrid Team is also quite awkward now. Initially, when he joined Real Madrid, he was seen as a main central defender, but under Mourinho, he couldn’t compete with Cavaleiro and Pepe. Even when Ramos moved closer to the position of central defender, due to his excessively tall and clumsy body, he might even line up behind Ramos.

These are the most fitting and character-appropriate nicknames within Real Madrid, and the most unflattering nickname is Casillas’: ”Big Butt.”

On the defensive line, Casillas has the most nicknames. Originally, the most famous was ”Captain,” which may be related to his initial status in the team. As his teammates said back then, this was the ”Saint Casillas” official nickname.

Of course, now titles like ”Banner,” ”Captain,” ”Captain” are more used for Chen Zhong.

Now Casillas is sometimes jokingly called ”Big Butt” by his teammates in private, perhaps because his butt is indeed big, or it implies he always has good luck (in Spanish, ”Big Butt” carries this meaning).

However, from the perspective of domestic fans, or after hearing this title, their understanding is that Casillas has a big face and a big butt, always opposing Chen Zhong, or it means having a big butt makes it hard for him to sit still.

After losing many struggles with Chen Zhong, Casillas has now begun to clarify his position. Now the hottest in Real Madrid is neither Cristiano Ronaldo nor Kaka, but Chen Zhong.

Ramos’ nickname is Cuqui, which is the name of a doll, and his family has called him this since he was small.

Main central defender Pepe is called ”Pepeinho” by his teammates. Since he was born in Brazil and holds a Brazilian passport, his Real Madrid teammates add ”inho” to his name according to Brazilian custom, as a form of nickname.

Cavaleiro’s nickname comes more from respect rather than mockery or sarcasm—he is called ”Grandpa,” not just because of his relatively old age in the team (32), but also because he has always been very serious both on and off the field.

They are now Mourinho’s main central defenders and are Mourinho’s most trusted central defender duo. However, as Cavaleiro’s age gradually increases and Ramos shows his talent as a central defender, Ramos and Pepe are very likely to form a new central defender duo in the future.

As for Albiol, his strengths and weaknesses are very obvious and he is a backup in Mourinho’s list.

Brazilian defender Marcelo is called ”Crazy” because he acts superstitiously all day and is the biggest joker in Real Madrid’s locker room, always lightening the mood during each training session.

However, Marcelo is not very accepting of this nickname and is somewhat unhappy. Finally, Chen Zhong made the final decision and gave Marcelo the nickname ”Nut,” which finally satisfied the Brazilian.

Of course, from an outsider’s perspective, especially Chinese fans, with Chen Zhong’s favor, Marcelo is a veritable ”team pet.” The scenes where Chen Zhong opens drinks for Marcelo are widely circulated both domestically and abroad.

Alvaro’s nickname is ”RoboCop,” because he spends much time in the gym, building up developed muscles.

He is also the team’s best choice on the wing when defense is needed.

Among the forwards, Cristiano Ronaldo is called ”Robot.” Casillas often greets C. Ronaldo like this: ”Hello, Robot!”

The reason teammates call him this is because the Portuguese is full of strength, never tires, and is filled with a desire and ambition to win, which fits the nickname perfectly.

Of course, Cristiano Ronaldo is not too satisfied with this nickname, and during private training with Chen Zhong, he approached Chen Zhong, hoping he could correct his nickname like he did for Marcelo.

And the nickname he wants is ”Terminator.”

This is from a popular movie where the Terminator is played by an action movie star, telling the story of how a future Skynet rules the world and sends robots to kill the young leader of the rebel army.

Another superstar, Kaka, has a nickname without much creativity; he is called ”Ricky” because his name is Ricardo, and that’s what his teammates called him during his Milan days.

Chen Zhong initially liked calling Kaka by his name, but later, because the pronunciation in Italian means feces, he went with the flow. However, back in Madrid, it wasn’t much of a concern anymore.

Di Maria is called ”Little Angel,” because the name ”Angel” in Spanish itself means ”Angel.”

Adebayor, who joined during the winter transfer market, is called ”Avatar”—the black alien race with long braids, Adebayor fits all the characteristics of the Avatar.

Higuain’s nickname ”Little Gun” is already well known because his father’s nickname when he played was ”Gun,” so it was natural for Higuain to be ”Little Gun.”

French forward Benzema was called ”Monsieur” by his teammates directly using the French pronunciation of ”Mr.,” as the term ”Monsieur” in French indicates a respectful address for an elegant man.

Pedro León’s nickname is ”Tomato,” because he is from Murcia, the main tomato-producing area in Spain, known for its annual ”Tomato Battle.”

The youngest player on the team Canales is called ”Kid.”

Midfield players’ nicknames are not as abundant as those of the defense line players.

Alonso’s nickname is ”Gentleman,” and he has won the respect of all the players in the locker room. Teammates see him as a model of elegance both on and off the field.

The name for Khedira is not really a nickname; teammates just directly call him ”Sami,” since his full name is Sami Khedira.

Granero has two nicknames; one is ”Pirate” because he always likes to wear a headband over his messy curls, resembling a pirate, and his celebration gesture when in the youth team often involved covering one eye.

The other nickname contrasts completely with the pirate vibe—”Gypsy,” because of his very quiet personality and vintage aura.

...

Of course, what people care about most is the number one star player in the team, Chen Zhong.

Yes, after winning the 2010 Ballon d’Or, Chen Zhong has indeed become the undisputed top star within the Real Madrid Team, and his original nickname continued from his youth team days as ”Monster,” during which time he entered Real Madrid’s first team at just 16 and quickly gained a foothold.

Later, his nickname became ”Light of Asia,” due to his outstanding performance at Real Madrid and his poised presence in front of the camera, all of which helped him gain immense popularity across Asia.

The ”Light of Asia” is not a title from one country but is recognized by a majority of Asian fans.

Everything Chen Zhong has done in Europe is a model for Asian players, whether in terms of value, goals scored, or performance, making him unmatched to date.

Even if only in Asia, his achievements in Europe are enough to call him the ”King of Soccer,” but of course, only the King of Soccer in Asia.
