I Am Scouted by Real Madrid

Chapter 758: Chapter 33: The Ex-Manager (2)

Cristiano Ronaldo, Di Maria, Cavaleiro, and others remained silent.

After the players dispersed, Chen Zhong soon received some insider information. The higher-ups at Real Madrid were very baffled by Mourinho’s remarks.

A staff member found Chen Zhong and said to him, ”The situation is worse now than ever.”

”Some people think that if things continue this way, he’ll have to leave the club.”

”He’s practically forcing the club to fire him.”

Some inside Real Madrid even speculated that Mourinho was using this tactic to force the club to dismiss him, and this speculation also reached Chen Zhong’s ears.

Regarding these speculations, Chen Zhong quickly expressed his opinion: ”We are in an advantageous position in all aspects, and everything at the club is moving in a positive direction.”

Although Chen Zhong did not directly back Mourinho, his words conveyed a desire for the club to maintain the current situation.

However, Mourinho seemed not to understand Chen Zhong’s good intentions and made another series of inappropriate remarks at the pre-match press conference against Malaga.

”I won’t be like Pellegrini,” Mourinho said, ”Do you know why? Because if Real Madrid kicks me out, I won’t go be Malaga’s coach.”

”If I get fired, I’ll go coach a big league club in the Premier League or Serie A.”

”Switching to coach another big club is no problem for me.” These remarks by Mourinho simultaneously discredited Pellegrini and the Malaga Club, and also shocked Real Madrid’s president Florentino.

After all, Florentino hadn’t invited Mourinho nine months ago just for him to talk nonsense but to guide Real Madrid onto a path of stable development.

Back then, Florentino did not realize that Mourinho was such a rebellious person.

Staff frequently at the Real Madrid training base revealed that Mourinho walked around the base with an angry face, and if anyone happened to run into him, they had to satisfy his exaggerated demands.

Meanwhile, after hearing Mourinho’s comments about Malaga, Real Madrid players were unhappy because they might end up paying an unnecessary price on the field for Mourinho’s loose tongue.

”It’s a hypocritical world,” Mourinho continued, ”Everyone knows what’s true and what’s fake.”

”I personally would rather be a target for weak attacks than be a hypocritical person. That’s how I am by nature, how I grew up, and it won’t change when I die.”

”I will leave with my head held high, with a smile.”

”I never fear speaking the truth, won’t be afraid of a group of cowards attacking me tomorrow.”

”What can I do? I’m not afraid to speak the truth. Unlike some people who run real estate companies while also being player agents. If I had a real estate company, I’d sell houses.” Clearly, Mourinho’s final remark was a veiled jab at Barcelona’s coach Guardiola’s brother, Pere Guardiola, who is both a real estate owner and a player agent.

Mourinho’s disparagement towards Malaga quickly received a response.

The president of Malaga Club, Salvador Pondal, unceremoniously said, ”Mourinho’s words and actions show he’s a downright clown.”

In response, Real Madrid’s director of external relations, Antonio Galliano, said, ”Real Madrid does not need to apologize for Mourinho’s remarks; his intention was not to belittle others.”

At the press conference, Mourinho was at loggerheads with reporters, as he could not tolerate others disagreeing with him.

A reporter asked, ”Do you think your complaints about the schedule and refereeing have diverted people’s attention?”

”What complaint? That’s not a complaint; that’s a fact. What are you thinking?”

”That is indeed a complaint.”

”Hypocritical! Sorry, I have the right to say that.”

After apologizing to the reporter, Mourinho pointed out that he is the only one at Real Madrid with the courage to publicly defend the club’s interests.

When asked if he felt supported by Real Madrid, Mourinho insinuated, ”Since I’ve already complained, why would others still need to complain? Some people should speak but don’t; they want others to say what they want to hear.”

”Other clubs have different strategies in dealing with the media compared to us.”

”Since coming here, I’ve never asked players to participate in media strategies, but some clubs have players actively involved, providing strong protection for the coach, allowing the coach to focus on his work comfortably. But that’s not the case here; here I’m the one exposed.” Hearing this, Real Madrid players remembered that after the game against Deportivo La Coruna on Saturday, Mourinho had asked them to complain about the unfair schedule to the reporters.

But the Real Madrid players did not comply.

After hearing Mourinho’s remarks, there were also comments from Barcelona, broadly saying, that’s why we chose not to sign Mourinho back then.

After all, Mourinho’s character has always been like this, and remarks like these have long been newsworthy when coming from Mourinho. During his time coaching in England, Italy, and Spain, Mourinho had repeatedly made verbal attacks against other teams’ coaches.
