I Am Scouted by Real Madrid

Chapter 764: Chapter 36: Learning to Keep Quiet

Although Messi’s playing style captivated Casillas’ girlfriend, Kaponeiro, Kaponeiro is still smart. When asked by the media about who is better between Messi and Chen Zhong, she diplomatically answered that both have their strengths and are outstanding in their ways.

If Kaponeiro had stopped her comments there, then it would be unfortunate for Adebayor, who missed a penalty in the last moments of the match.

Unfortunately, Kaponeiro might have recalled the text messages the Portuguese sent to her boyfriend or just wanted to make her presence felt, so she took a jab at Cristiano Ronaldo.

Originally, even if she had stopped there, it wouldn’t have been a big deal. Although the Portuguese is the top scorer in the team this season, everyone knows that there’s only one person in Real Madrid you can’t mess with, and that’s Chen Zhong.

But after Kaponeiro made her remarks, Chen Zhong stepped up.

When journalists asked him how he perceived Kaponeiro’s words, Chen Zhong issued a rather severe statement.

”I don’t know in what capacity she is saying such things.”

”She’s not a player for Real Madrid, nor is she staff or anything else.”

”She’s just the girlfriend of one of our teammates. If it were her boyfriend (Casillas) saying this, I would consult with him, but if it’s her saying it, I don’t think we need to pay attention.”

Several times this season, the Real Madrid locker room was almost caught up in media controversies, with topics like internal leakage, Mourinho’s hunt for traitors, and tensions between Casillas and Cristiano Ronaldo drawing the most attention.

And if we talk about the latter, Kaponeiro could be considered to have played a significant role.

This time, she stepped out again for an interview and made these statements. As the captain of Real Madrid, Chen Zhong naturally wouldn’t indulge her, clearly expressing his stance.

That is, Kaponeiro cannot represent anyone within the Real Madrid team, nor does anyone need to find out about Real Madrid’s internal matters through her words. If necessary, he would directly ask Casillas, not Kaponeiro.

After this statement, many people set their sights on Casillas.

This outstanding representative of Real Madrid’s youth academy, San Casillas, once considered the best candidate to become the next captain after Raul, would say...

After all, Cristiano Ronaldo merely sent a private text to him once, hoping he could restrain his partner’s speech and not utter bad words in front of the media.

Even such actions were directly confronted by Casillas, putting on a bold display of defending his wife.

This time, faced with Chen Zhong’s merciless words, how would Casillas react?

Many people were looking forward to Casillas ”standing up,” not because they particularly supported this man, but because they purely wanted to watch the spectacle or wait for explosive news.

But reality is harsh, Casillas initially slammed the table in rebellion, but soon had to calm down.

The first was Casillas’ friend, Sergio Ramos.

The two played together for the national team. Although Ramos wasn’t a Real Madrid youth academy player, their relationship in the national team was like ”brothers.” As soon as the incident happened, Ramos called Casillas.

”I think you should calm down.” Upon hearing that Casillas wanted to respond, Ramos immediately advised him: ”No one will support you.”

Ramos didn’t say much, directly laying out the harsh reality that at this stage, no one, including himself, would support Casillas.

After hanging up Ramos’ call, Casillas was still uneasy, but soon, the successive calmness forced him to settle down.

Mourinho called Casillas, with very clear language, saying, ”No matter what you’re thinking right now, I hope you can remain silent.”

At the same time, Mourinho mentioned the previous incident of the team’s line-up being leaked early and stated, ”The team’s momentum is good right now, I don’t want any internal issues, and I hope you understand what I mean.”

Besides Mourinho, Francisco also called, conveying Florentino’s message that Real Madrid’s higher-ups also clearly hope Casillas remains quiet and doesn’t do anything that could be misinterpreted.

By this time, Casillas’ mindset was already a bit crumbled, unable to resist taking a walk to Sports City, akin to revisiting his old primary school, in hopes of finding an old friend to soothe his emotions.

However, the reality presented itself when former coaches or friends also advised him to keep his silence.

Clearly, Chen Zhong’s influence had penetrated all aspects of Real Madrid.

At night, when Casillas returned home, pondering how to face his aggrieved wife and how to explain his inability to speak up for her this time, Kaponeiro spoke first.

”Sorry, dear.” Kaponeiro hugged Casillas and said, ”I don’t know why Chen spoke out, but I think we should remain quiet. This is all for your good. We can’t mess with him.”
