Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

After arriving in Dezhou, Li Younan smoothly took on the system’s second check-in task in the United States.

Compared to the previous Starlight Value collection task in Los Angeles, this task also features a high degree of freedom.

[The cowboy culture of Dezhou is not the lone gunman depicted in films, but a frontier spirit system. It is the ultimate pursuit of survival, wisdom, moral codes, and freedom. When your actions align with the cowboy’s spirit of resilience, contract, and pioneering, you earn Pioneer Points, and with 10,000 points, you can complete the check-in task.]

[Current task progress: 0/10000]

Well, it’s another task that seems difficult to complete at the start.

But anyway, Li Younan felt such a task might be hard to accomplish in a big city.

So participating in hunting competitions is quite necessary.

Next, Li Younan embarked on his main goal in San Antonio, which is obtaining a hunting license and gun permit.

To get a hunting license, first, one needs to complete a certified hunter education course.

In today’s information age, this is quite simple; just complete the online theory class, which Li Younan finished on the hotel’s computer, and the relevant documentation can also be submitted online.

Next is the review process, as Li Younan applied for a short-term hunting license, the review didn’t take long, but the price was very expensive, nearly 10 times the price of a regular resident hunting license.

Then there’s the non-resident gun permit, similarly, he needed to pass the online course, which Li Younan did very smoothly, after which he only needed to find a local certified instructor to join the live-fire assessment to obtain the permit.

Having completed all the prerequisites, Li Younan drove to a Texas-certified outdoor shooting range.

Holding the steering wheel, Li Younan couldn’t help but feel a bit excited. After all, as a Chinese person who hadn’t served in the military, guns were something that almost only existed in TV and movies for his generation.

What boy doesn’t love guns, especially now that Li Younan has mastered level three Gun Mastery, akin to a top-level swordsmanship master, but who has never held a sword, and soon he would hold the first gun in his life; naturally, his excitement was palpable.

Soon, Li Younan arrived at the state-certified DTS international shooting range, completed the registration at the window, and then a certified instructor led him to the range.

Following the instructor, Li Younan could tell by the way he walked that he was likely a retired military man, tall, wearing a gray baseball cap.

He turned his head, took off his sunglasses, and smiled: ”Are you Chinese?”

”Yes, sir.”

”I’ve heard your country has very strict control over firearms.”

”Yes, in our generation, except for soldiers and police, there are basically no legal ways to own guns.”

The instructor shook his head and said: ”That’s really unfortunate, here in Texas, if the federal government imposed such strict laws, it would be time for Texas to become independent, I really feel sorry for you.”

To this, Li Younan just smiled without responding, every country has its own situation, and the value judgment on the same thing naturally differs greatly, there’s no point in arguing.

The instructor asked again: ”Have you ever handled a gun before?”

To avoid trouble, Li Younan casually replied: ”Actually, after arriving in the United States, I went to a few shooting experience venues.”

The instructor showed no expression, nodded: ”If that’s the case, good.”

As they spoke, they arrived at the shooting range.

This is a standard outdoor shooting range with 5 fixed stands, designed with distance lines from 3 yards, 7 yards, 15 yards to 20 yards.

At this moment, Li Younan was being assessed for a handgun permit, in fact, in Dezhou, using a hunting rifle doesn’t require a gun permit, but for hunting competitions, it’s best to have a handgun along with the hunting rifle.

Here, a particular advantage of Dezhou deserves mention.

In most states in the United States, there are restrictions on hunting rifle magazines, except for Dezhou and Florida, where magazine capacity is unrestricted, yet even so, conventional hunting rifles generally hold only a few bullets, like double-barreled and single-barreled shotguns have only designs for two and one rounds respectively.

This time, in the competition that Li Younan joined, the type of hunting rifle was limited to single-barreled shotguns, meaning after firing a shot, one must eject the shell and reload the ammunition.

Under such restrictions, having a handgun can significantly ensure the participant’s safety, so every participant must prepare a handgun.

Although the competition organizers would uniformly provide handguns, without a gun permit, participants cannot carry a handgun, which is why Li Younan had to obtain a gun permit here.

The instructor took the assessment handgun out from the holster, under camera surveillance, showing it to Li Younan: ”This is a Glock 17.”

Then he skillfully removed the magazine, cleared out the bullets, quickly worked the slide twice, and dry-fired into the sky to indicate there was no bullet in the chamber, then placed the handgun and magazine on the tactical table, stepping back beside Li Younan and said: ”You may begin your assessment now, the first step is a safety check, you need to demonstrate the correct gun handling posture, please begin.”
