Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

Li Younan took out his phone and started streaming live.

”Hey buddies, look where I am now. I’m currently at the Malibu Reef State Beach, which is hailed as a surfing paradise.”

”Let me explain a bit. This is the world’s first surfing reserve, and surfing on this beach is undoubtedly a mandatory item on our itinerary list for this trip.”

”Today, I’m prepared to try out and see what it’s like to surf here.”

Li Younan aimed his camera at the crowd surfing on the beach.

There are three main surf spots on the beach. The first spot caters mainly to longboard surfers and is suitable for beginners advancing their skills; the second spot, a few dozen meters away, is for high-level intermediate surfers — here, the waves are faster and steeper; beyond the second surf spot is the third surf spot at the start of the Malibu wave zone, which is only suitable for professional surfers.

Li Younan watched for a while, parked his car in the parking area and took out his wetsuit and surfboard — he had opted for a shortboard, equipment he specially bought before coming.

He first went to the first surf spot, suitable for longboard surfers and beginners who are just starting with shortboards. Generally speaking, the wave speed is relatively slow and stable, with long sliding conditions, naturally drawing the most people.

Of course, there are also the most bikini beauties on this beach.

There’s sunlight today, so the temperature isn’t very low. Although it’s winter, the temperature is generally warm, and you can feel the strong wind blowing from the sea.

The winter waves are the largest of the year; usually, the waves at this beach are around 1.5 to 2 meters high, but in winter, they can exceed three meters.

Li Younan appreciated the bikini beauties on the beach with an aesthetic mindset for a while, then took his surfboard and headed towards the third surf spot. For him, the first two spots pose no challenge; the waves are still too small. It would be better to experience the third spot.

At this time, there were already quite a few surfers at the third spot. Those who play here are either highly skilled advanced players or even professional surfers.

Li Younan placed his surfboard on the sand and twisted his body lightly to warm up. Just then, a sudden scream and chaotic exclamations came from the beach.

Li Younan raised an eyebrow and looked out to the sea, the next moment he saw a shocking scene.

On a wave that exceeded three meters, two surfers were almost simultaneously popping up on their boards.

The surfer on the left was actually a bit later, which angered the surfer on the right.

In surfing, there’s a very serious unwritten rule that absolutely prohibits wave stealing — only one surfer is allowed on a wave.

Although far away, making it hard to see their expressions, it was obvious the surfer on the right was furious to the extreme. He then performed a move that stunned everyone.

Leveraging his superb surfing skills, he drifted on the wave and maneuvered close to the surfer on the left, then suddenly stretched out a hand and pushed.

Then came an even more surprising scene. Perhaps realizing he was at fault, the surfer on the left didn’t retaliate but he, too, had excellent surfing skills and didn’t lose his balance. Instead, using the push to slide forward a bit, he controlled his balance through his strong physique.

However, this sight made the surfer on the right even angrier. He controlled his surfboard, pivoting to turn, then cut back, once again getting close to the surfer on the left. This time, he directly grabbed the other’s wetsuit, pulling him into the wave.

The beachgoers couldn’t help but gasp in astonishment, some even held their heads dazedly watching the scene.

Soon the beach became somewhat chaotic, lifeguards on jet skis rushed towards the incident area.

After a chaotic resolution, both surfers were brought ashore.

Only then did Li Younan see clearly that the surfer dragged into the waves was a woman, having swallowed a few mouthfuls of seawater, appearing a bit disheveled.

However, for a mature surfer, being pulled under by waves is nothing new, so it wasn’t a big deal.

The combative perpetrator still sternly accused the other, while the pulled-under female surfer argued that they both almost caught the wave simultaneously, with both sides unwilling to back down.

Li Younan looked at the scene thoughtfully. For him, it was just a small episode in the travel process but also a reminder: surfing is after all a dangerous sport, so adhering to sea rules is necessary.

Li Younan glanced into the depths of the sea, where the waves were bigger, and even occasionally stirred up the hollow waves surfers love most.

Compared to the nearshore position, waves higher in quality are found further out.

But going there would be troublesome via surfboard alone. In fact, many surfers go there by sitting on sea jet skis.

Just then, another astonishing exclamation arose from the beach. Li Younan also noticed this — a super-sized wave rolling up in the distance, visually estimated to be over 5 meters high.

Bear in mind, a 5-meter wave is already visually impactful, and what’s more surprising is, despite its height, someone was still trying to challenge it.

At this time, a surfer stepped down from a jet ski, adjusted his posture, waiting for the wave to come.

When the wave reached beneath him, he suddenly stood up and successfully caught the wave.

While people on the beach were cheering him on, the wave abruptly surged up at a certain position without warning, severing the surfer’s balance.

Then, the wave churned hollow, but the surfer had already disappeared, and the nearby jet ski quickly went for rescue.

From this wave on, each subsequent wave rose higher than the last.

More surfers began to challenge the current swell.

Soon, the female surfer from earlier was also heading over on a jet ski.

Before long she reached the swell area.

The female surfer who had been pulled under the sea had solid skills, catching the wave on her first attempt.

Honestly speaking, for a woman to dare challenge waves of this level is already very brave.

However, the current swell was more urgent and taller than before. When the wave truly rose, again at a certain location, seemingly a special marine flow resulted from the seabed’s terrain, she failed to control her body and was knocked down into the sea again.

At such wave heights, being knocked under is a very dangerous situation. Huge waves create a tumbler effect underwater, just like a washing machine, making it impossible to control one’s body.

Fortunately, rescue personnel on jet skis were nearby, swiftly reaching out to aid once the swell passed.

But with subsequent waves rising one after another, even those somewhat esteemed professional surfers failed one by one here.

The female surfer was brought to shore, even more disheveled this time, with plenty of seawater seeping into places like her ears and nostrils, besides her mouth.

The surfer who had argued with her mercilessly taunted, ”A rookie like you dares to steal a wave from me. Let me show you what real surfing is.”

Those words were truly chilling, as the female surfer raised her head glaring angrily at him, yet unable to retort.

And that surfer mounted a jet ski, breaking waves towards the swell area.

At this moment, Li Younan was a bit distressed... because he didn’t have a jet ski.

He looked around, searching for a place to rent a jet ski, but, unfortunately, he arrived late — all jet skis were already rented out, or some professional surfers brought their own teams over to surf.

Suddenly, he looked thoughtfully at the female surfer and her personal jet ski.
