Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

”If you want to choose a club, there’s the Quidditch Club and the Midnight Movie Society, they’re super fun!”

”The window-side seat number 8-A-12 on the 8th floor of the library is the top student throne; during finals week, you need to reserve it two hours in advance.”

”See that brown bear statue up ahead? Touching its butt can give you high scores, and blowing air onto its paw and touching it before exams supposedly doubles your chances of passing.”

”There’s a secret code passed down from Chinese seniors. At the customized dandan noodle window at Reiber Dining Hall, tell that uncle you want six tree lay (Sichuan spicy) with crushed peanuts and less soup, and he’ll add a secret sauce for you.”

”Freshmen must learn a special password that we call the eight-clap cheer, clapping and stomping while shouting UCLA.”

”Listen, this is very important. We have very powerful basketball and football teams; we’re strong contenders in the NCAA. This cheer is very necessary when watching the games.”

No matter the country, students are generally the most innocent, idealistic, and romantic group of people.

Whether at his own alma mater or UCLA, Li Younan could feel this atmosphere.

The renowned students full of youthful energy gave Li Younan some small thrills.

Back then, he actually had an opportunity for further education. If he had chosen a prestigious school and stayed, he might have had a different exciting life.

Of course, these thoughts just briefly circled in his head and then sank back into his mind.

After wandering around for a bit, Li Younan left the freshman tour group and continued to stroll aimlessly.

For Li Younan, he felt that his university experience was the most significant experience in his life so far.

University is not only a place for learning but also a place that gathers like-minded people. Choosing a university is like choosing your friends and circle.

Top tier universities across the country have many children of celebrities. Just imagine if your classmates were the children of the President of the United States, of LeBron James, or of Zhang Yimou, wouldn’t that be fascinating?

While Li Younan was feeling nostalgic, a parent was showing his child around the school—a little blonde girl who appeared to be only six or seven years old.

She was as exquisite as a doll... oh, she actually was a doll.

Her father earnestly said to her, ”This is the best public university in the United States.”

”But daddy, what’s a public university? I don’t think that’s fun at all.”

Li Younan earnestly told the little girl, ”No, no, no, this university is really fun.”

The little girl blinked and looked at Li Younan in confusion.

Li Younan earnestly said, ”This school has a Quidditch Club and a Midnight Movie Society, super fun, and touching that brown bear statue could give you high scores. Oh, and we have a secret handshake known as the eight-clap cheer, clapping and stomping while shouting UCLA. Try it with me.”

The little girl was left bewildered by Li Younan’s few words, excitedly following along with clapping and stomping, shouting sweetly.

”Is it fun, sweetheart?”

”Oh! It’s so fun. I think I’m starting to like it here!”

The old father beside her looked relieved.

Is this the spirit possessed by the students of this university?

It’s truly wonderful.

After entertaining the little girl for a while, her father then asked, ”Hey, buddy, what year are you?”

”I’m not a student.”

”Uh? But you seem very familiar with this place...”

”Oh, I just heard it from the guide over there.”

”...”

After leaving UCLA, it wasn’t too late, so Li Younan drove to USC.

Compared to UCLA, USC was more exquisite. In layman’s terms, it’s much smaller, but it’s equally interesting to stroll around. It’s a proper elite school, with many celebrities’ children studying here.

Li Younan remembered that one of his teacher’s children studied at USC and had Obama’s daughter in the same class.

When attending parent-teacher conferences, that teacher often sat in the same room with Obama. Thinking about it, it’s quite remarkable.

Choosing a good university is choosing your life; this saying is no lie.

In China, choosing a university can indeed change your destiny, so if your family lacks resources or connections, focus and study hard. That might be one of the few chances for ordinary people to change their fate.

If you don’t know how to study, you can check out ”Reborn, I Just Want to Focus on Studying”, which shares many useful study methods.

When Li Younan returned to the hotel, it was already evening. He took a hot shower and had dinner, planning to stroll around the hotel’s gym.

However, upon arriving at the gym entrance, he was told that there would be no gym service tonight.

A bit dissatisfied, Li Younan asked, ”Why is that?”

The staff apologized, saying, ”Tonight, the gym is booked by a few players from the Golden State Warriors who are challenging the Los Angeles Lakers.”

Li Younan snorted, ”Is Curry inside? Can he actually dunk on the gym’s rim?”

The staff member’s expression twitched slightly, ”Uh...actually, it’s Mr. Stephen Curry who booked the place.”

Upon hearing this, Li Younan perked up, ”Is it really him?”

He took out his phone to record, speaking in Chinese to the camera, ”Hey guys, I heard Curry’s gonna book the gym at my hotel... He’s lucky, I need to think of a way to get in and show him how to dunk.”

The gym staff watched Li Younan babble to the camera in Chinese, looking puzzled.

Then Li Younan put down his phone and said earnestly, ”Hey, you probably don’t know me, but actually, I’m a super internet celebrity.”
