Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

Li Younan was suddenly enlightened... The guy he had been calling Brother Long for so long turned out to be a child much younger than himself? With a wry smile, he said, ”So now you are his only family. With something like this happening to you, it probably scared him a lot...”

Liu Yu nodded, ”That’s why I didn’t originally plan to tell her about this, but there’s no way around it. Some things can’t be hidden, and deliberately hiding them from her might cause unnecessary trouble.”

”She’s an adult now, and she has to start facing unexpected things in life...”

After a pause, Liu Yu shook his head again, ”We’re not originally from Chengdu. My parents moved here over ten years ago, so we don’t have relatives here. And as for her, before the incident, she only had two or three middle school classmates with a decent relationship. Over the years, even those connections faded. After thinking it over, I couldn’t find anyone to help or check on me, so I thought of you.”

Liu Yu adjusted his posture slightly, looking at Li Younan, ”That’s pretty much how things happened. Do you have any other questions?”

Li Younan shook his head, ”I roughly understand.” Then he sighed, his expression becoming somewhat complex for a moment, ”This is the first time I learned some things about him, and to be honest, some of it goes beyond my understanding. What can I do for him?”

Finally, a smile appeared on Liu Yu’s face, but his expression turned serious again, ”None of the treatments worked on her until she met you.”

”Ever since she started helping you edit videos, she’s been involved in almost every one of your trips. After watching your videos each time, she becomes very excited. In a way... you’re her medicine.”

Li Younan was momentarily stunned, silent for a bit, and then asked with some confusion, ”I can somewhat understand that, but I still have some questions. Why me? Or what’s different about me compared to other travel bloggers?”

Liu Yu nodded seriously, ”There are indeed some differences. First, she is involved in your travels, which is different from watching other people’s videos from a third-person perspective.”

”To be honest, I don’t quite understand from a psychological standpoint why... Maybe it’s because she contributes something during your travels, which gives her a mental cue of going outside herself... Judging by the results, it indeed seems that way. Recently, she’s even started to open her curtains every day to bask in the sun...”

After pausing, Liu Yu continued, ”And then there’s the second point, which, of course, is also my guess. A core mechanism in treating this illness is... to rebuild cognition.”

”Subconsciously, she feels going out is dangerous, being exposed in open spaces is dangerous, and then her body uncontrollably breaks into somatic disorders, like palpitations, difficulty breathing, weak legs, and so on due to emotional reactions... So we need to reshape her perception of such environments.”

”But directly telling her that these places are not dangerous, that going out is not dangerous, that outdoor environments are not dangerous, doesn’t work.”

”She understands the reason, but reshaping of cognition must happen subconsciously, and when she sees you overcoming challenges, this subconscious reaction gets implanted into her awareness.”

”Of course, this is all my speculation, but still, from the results, like your last skiing video and the one riding horses on the grassland, they had particularly good effects. I could clearly feel her emotions becoming more enthusiastic.”

Li Younan touched his chin and said a somewhat blunt thing, ”So, when you had this accident, did it undo all the progress we’ve made up to now?”

Liu Yu was silent for a moment before snorting slightly irritably, ”Are you always this sharp-tongued when you talk to her as well?”

Li Younan shrugged, ”Not really, I have always respected Brother Long. Oh no, perhaps now I should call him Brother Xiao Long?”

Liu Yu was also momentarily stunned, blinking, ”Brother Long? Brother Xiao Long?”

His expression became peculiar, ”Do you think she’s a... boy?”

Originally, Li Younan hadn’t thought in that direction, and Liu Yu had always assumed Li Younan knew his sister’s gender, so he hadn’t deliberately mentioned it.

But at this moment, both of them suddenly realized something.

Li Younan slowly brought his thoughts back to order, cautiously asking, ”So, actually... Dragon, Sister Long?”

Liu Yu couldn’t help but roll his eyes, nodding silently.

In an instant, Li Younan felt his worldview completely collapse.

...

In the hospital room, a caregiver came in to clean.

The chief doctor came for rounds, said a few words to Liu Yu, and then glanced curiously at Li Younan.

Because he hadn’t seen Liu Yu’s family come to take care of him in the past few days, and Li Younan had been the one in the hospital room the longest, naturally arousing some curiosity.

After the outsiders left, the two continued their friendly conversation.

Liu Yu adjusted his glasses, ”After observing you for about six months, I feel that you’re not a heartless person. Of course, if you were, your collaboration with my sister wouldn’t have developed to this stage. So...”

With a serious expression, Liu Yu said, ”For now, don’t tell her what I’ve told you today. As for when you should gradually reveal it, use your own judgment.”
