Divine Level Witch Doctor

The incident with Ye Feng was just a minor interlude and didn’t cause much of a stir. Zhao Yuan didn’t even know it had happened. As he walked through the school gates, Ma Guotao dragged him toward the main auditorium. The teachers and students who had been welcoming him at the gate all followed, and soon the spacious auditorium was packed to the rafters.

”Principal Ma, what are we doing here?” Zhao Yuan asked, confused.

Ma Guotao said with a smile, ”Zhao Yuan, after word of you single-handedly defeating the Jinling Zhao Family reached the university, everyone was incredibly inspired and proud of you. So, we decided to strike while the iron is hot and hold a special assembly on the day you returned. We want you to personally talk about what happened and encourage everyone to see you as a role model and study hard!”

”You can’t be serious?”

Zhao Yuan’s jaw dropped. He had never experienced anything like this before. It was impossible for him not to be nervous.

He said with a wry smile, ”This is a surprise attack, isn’t it? Couldn’t you have given me a heads-up so I could prepare a little?”

Ma Guotao was stunned for a moment. ”Huh? Weren’t you notified?”

Zhao Yuan shook his head. ”No!”

Ma Guotao slapped his forehead and said apologetically, ”Looks like I got too excited and forgot. My apologies, my apologies.” Then he added with a smile, ”Oh well, it’s fine even if you’re not prepared. Just get up there and say a few words. Anything will do.”

Looking at the expectant faces in the auditorium, Zhao Yuan couldn’t bear to refuse and had no choice but to bite the bullet and go on stage.

Fortunately, even though he was nervous and hadn’t prepared beforehand, his speech was fantastic. Applause thundered from beginning to end more times than he could count. His dashing and confident appearance on stage also captivated many of the female students. For a long time after, the love letters and small gifts he received were enough to form a small mountain.

After the assembly ended, Zhao Yuan stepped down from the stage to thunderous applause.

Ma Guotao came up to him, giving a thumbs-up. ”That was a beautiful speech! I never realized that not only are your medical skills incredible, but your public speaking is outstanding as well.”

Zhao Yuan gave a wry smile. ”Principal Ma, please don’t praise me. I was terrified I’d say the wrong thing up there. Look, my back is soaked with sweat.”

Ma Guotao glanced over and saw that there was indeed a large, dark patch of sweat on the back of Zhao Yuan’s shirt. He had originally wanted to say more to Zhao Yuan, but quickly changed his tune. ”Hurry back and take a shower and change. It’s cold out; don’t catch a cold because of this. Once you’re done, come find me in my office. I have something to discuss with you.”

”Alright.” Zhao Yuan nodded, said a quick goodbye to Lin Xue and the other three girls, and headed back to the dorm with Liu Zhu, Wang Rongfeng, and Wu Yan.

Along the way, many students swarmed them to take photos with Zhao Yuan and ask for his autograph. Liu Zhu, Wang Rongfeng, and Wu Yan also found themselves with quite a few admirers. The short walk ended up taking them nearly an hour. And that was only because Principal Ma had sent teachers to help with crowd control. Otherwise, Zhao Yuan and his friends had no idea when they would have ever made it back to their dorm.

After showering and changing into dry clothes, Zhao Yuan told his three brothers he was heading out and left the dorm to find Ma Guotao. Unexpectedly, he ran into more students asking for photos and autographs on the way.

The male students were fine; they were just excited and didn’t do anything too extreme. Some of the bolder female students, however, went all out, taking the opportunity during photos and autograph signings to grope him relentlessly.

He had to admit, when women decided to be perverts, they were far more brazen than men!

By the time Zhao Yuan finally escaped his fans and arrived at the principal’s office, his clothes were a complete mess, as if he’d been ravaged by a mob.

”Whoa, what happened to you?” Ma Guotao was taken aback by Zhao Yuan’s disheveled appearance.

Zhao Yuan said with a wry smile, ”Everyone was just a little too enthusiastic.” He briefly described what had just happened to him.

Ma Guotao couldn’t help but laugh. ”Haha, it seems fame is a double-edged sword.”

Zhao Yuan shook his head with a wry smile and then asked, ”Principal Ma, was there something you wanted to see me about?”

”Here’s the thing.” Ma Guotao stopped joking and got down to business. ”Your victory over the Jinling Zhao Family demonstrated a solid and superb level of medical skill. To have you continue as a freshman would undoubtedly be a waste of time. So, we were thinking of having you join the university’s research center and participate in a research project. What do you think?”

After considering it seriously, Zhao Yuan politely declined. ”Principal Ma, I still have many shortcomings. My victory over the Jinling Zhao Family was mostly due to luck. I’m afraid I’m not competent enough for the work at the research center. Besides, I feel there’s still a lot I need to learn, so please, let me continue as a freshman.”

To Ma Guotao, this sounded like Zhao Yuan was just being modest, but that wasn’t actually the case.

Zhao Yuan knew full well that his victory over the Jinling Zhao Family involved a bit of trickery. In terms of true mastery of the Medical Dao, he was far inferior to the likes of Zhao Yangqiu and Zhao Chengliang. He had only managed to knock them from their pedestal by relying on his Body Pearl and Information Leaf.

Zhao Yuan knew he still had much to learn. If he really joined the research institute, not only would the Information Leaf not necessarily be of much help, but it would also take away from his study time. After thinking it over, he decided it was better to remain a freshman.

Besides, he had already formed deep friendships with his classmates and didn’t want to leave them just like that.

Ma Guotao tried to persuade him for a while, but seeing that Zhao Yuan’s mind was made up, he had no choice but to drop the matter.

Although he had been rejected, Ma Guotao wasn’t the least bit angry. On the contrary, his estimation of Zhao Yuan rose even higher. He praised him inwardly, ’To defeat a Noble Family of medicine and still remain so humble and composed, choosing to quietly study and solidify his foundations... such young people are truly rare these days! From this small detail, I can see the big picture. Zhao Yuan’s future achievements will definitely be astounding!’

After collecting his thoughts, Ma Guotao said, ”Since you have your own plans, we’ll do it your way. However, there’s one more thing I hope you won’t refuse.”

”What is it?” Zhao Yuan asked curiously.

Ma Guotao said, ”We want to invite you to teach a course on the Basic Theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine!”

The previous night, Ma Guotao and the others had held a short meeting at the hotel. They had unanimously agreed that the Witch Doctor was a Grandmaster in the Basic Theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine. As his ’disciple’, even if Zhao Yuan hadn’t learned one hundred percent of his skills, he must have at least grasped seventy or eighty percent, right?

Even that was far beyond what renowned experts like themselves had achieved!

If they could convince Zhao Yuan to teach a class, it would be a heaven-sent opportunity for the students of West Hua Medical University! It might even produce a few future titans of medicine!

This was because the Basic Theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine was the most fundamental and crucial course in all of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It was like the foundation of a house—its quality directly determined the final structure.

The only question was whether Zhao Yuan would agree.

Ma Guotao looked at Zhao Yuan, feeling very nervous.
