Divine Level Witch Doctor

After such an incident, Zhao Dezhu was too embarrassed to remain in Rongcheng City. He took his daughter and kinsmen back to Jinling that very day.

Meanwhile, at West Hua Medical University, Zhao Yuan was instantly surrounded by Ma Guotao, Wang Jiasen, and the others the moment the press conference ended.

”Zhao Yuan, what exactly are you planning? You’re not really going to duel the Jinling Zhao Family in medicine, are you?” Director Ma asked, his expression grave.

In his opinion, Zhao Yuan was being far too impulsive.

Yes, Zhao Yuan had profound knowledge of Traditional Chinese Medical Theory and Chinese Herbal Medicine, and his Acupuncture Technique was said to be superb. But his opponent was the Jinling Zhao Family, a clan with a legacy stretching back hundreds of years!

How could one person possibly win against an entire medical Noble Family?

Director Ma wasn’t the only one who felt this way. The others all voiced their concerns, trying to talk Zhao Yuan out of it.

”Zhao Yuan, the Jinling Zhao Family has been an eminent medical Noble Family for centuries! Their power is nothing to scoff at. You have to think this through!”

”There’s a reason the Jinling Zhao Family’s Pulse Diagnosis, Prescription Medicine, and Acupuncture are known as their ’Three Perfections’! Their skills in these areas are absolutely top-tier in the nation! Plus, they have plenty of trump cards hidden away! Why, of all things, did you have to challenge them in their three strongest fields?”

”What if we find a way to talk to Zhao Dezhu and get this medical duel called off?”

They were all pessimistic, convinced Zhao Yuan couldn’t possibly win. After all, the might of the Jinling Zhao Family was plain for all to see. No matter how talented Zhao Yuan was, trying to defeat a powerful family single-handedly was a feat of impossible difficulty, like trying to scale the heavens.

The pessimism of Director Ma and the others didn’t affect Zhao Yuan.

”I issued the challenge in front of all that media. How could I possibly take it back now? Besides, Zhao Dezhu has already accepted. If I back out now, he’ll definitely seize the opportunity to stir up public opinion and drag my name through the mud. If that happens, I’ll become a complete laughingstock!”

After a brief pause, Zhao Yuan smiled and said, full of confidence, ”The Jinling Zhao Family is formidable, but I’m not weak either! As for this medical duel, I don’t believe for a second that I’ll lose!”

Unlike Director Ma and the others, Wang Jiasen had much more confidence in Zhao Yuan. After all, he had witnessed Zhao Yuan’s medical skills with his own eyes.

So, he didn’t try to talk Zhao Yuan out of the duel. Instead, he said, ”Zhao Yuan, I’m very familiar with the Jinling Zhao Family’s medical techniques. If you need me to, I can tell you everything I know. I hope it can be of some help.”

Zhao Yuan didn’t refuse Wang Jiasen’s kind offer. He nodded and said, ”That’s exactly what I need. Thank you, Dr. Wang.”

Know your enemy and know yourself, and you will not be imperiled in a hundred battles! Zhao Yuan would never refuse information on the Jinling Zhao Family. The more he knew, the greater his chances of victory.

Ma Guotao and the others came to a realization. Since the challenge had been issued and Zhao Dezhu had accepted, canceling was impossible. What they needed to do now wasn’t to be pessimistic or dampen Zhao Yuan’s spirits, but to gather information on the Jinling Zhao Family and help him prepare for the duel!

On the spot, Ma Guotao assigned a task to all the university’s professors: use any means necessary to gather as much information as possible on the Jinling Zhao Family, especially their secret techniques and signature skills in Pulse Diagnosis, Prescription Medicine, and Acupuncture!

In Ma Guotao’s eyes, Zhao Yuan’s medical duel with the Jinling Zhao Family was not just a personal matter; the reputation of West Hua Medical University was also on the line! He had to mobilize the entire university to support Zhao Yuan, to back him in this fight against the Jinling Zhao Family!

If they lost this battle, the reputation of West Hua Medical University would suffer. But if they won, its prestige would soar to new heights!

And so, in the three days leading up to the duel, the professors of West Hua Medical University used their personal connections to gather every scrap of information they could find on the Jinling Zhao Family.

This information was first compiled before a group of professors led by Qiu Haogu. They analyzed it, separating fact from fiction, and once it was properly organized, it was delivered to Zhao Yuan for his review.

Zhao Yuan was both surprised and moved by Ma Guotao’s support.

”Thank you, Principal Ma,” he said sincerely.

Ma Guotao waved his hand and said earnestly, ”As long as you are a student of West Hua Medical University, your business is the university’s business! The school will always be your staunchest supporter!”

Once the official business was concluded, Qiu Haogu finally voiced the question that had been burning in his mind for a long time. ”Zhao Yuan, do you know ’The Man Who Wants to Be a Witch Doctor’?”

As soon as he spoke, the room fell dead silent. Everyone shut their mouths and pricked up their ears.

By now, ”The Man Who Wants to Be a Witch Doctor” had become the most mysterious and legendary figure in the medical community.

Everyone was speculating about his identity, but no one knew who he really was.

Zhao Yuan was taken aback. He hadn’t expected Qiu Haogu to know about his alias on the school forums. Along with his surprise, he felt a little smug.

Then again, he still had no idea just how much status and prestige his alias commanded in the medical community...

”Yes, I do,” Zhao Yuan said with a smile. ”’The Man Who Wants to Be a Witch Doctor’ is my...”

Before he could get the word ”alias” out, an excited Qiu Haogu cut him off. ”Your teacher? ’The Man Who Wants to Be a Witch Doctor’ is your teacher?!”

”Huh?” Zhao Yuan was stunned.

’’The Man Who Wants to Be a Witch Doctor’ is my alias,’ he thought. ’How did he suddenly become my teacher?’

Before he could explain, the people around him burst into excited chatter.

”That explains it! So that’s why ’The Man Who Wants to Be a Witch Doctor’ posted on the school forums to passionately defend Zhao Yuan. He’s his teacher!”

”I’m so envious of Zhao Yuan! To be taught by such a top-tier medical expert... No wonder he was able to offer a completely new interpretation and punctuation of the ’Treasure of Life and Form Theory’!”

”Zhao Yuan, so you’re the disciple of the Great God of Witch Doctor! I knew it! How else could your skills in cultivating Chinese Herbal Medicine be so incredible? You must have learned it all from him, right?”

’Great God of Witch Doctor?’

’Top-tier medical expert?’

’What in the world...?’

Zhao Yuan was dumbfounded.

’Are these experts and professors talking about my alias on the school forums?’ he wondered. ’Why do they all get that look of utter adoration on their faces when they mention my alias?’

After waiting for what felt like an eternity for everyone to calm down a bit, Zhao Yuan finally asked, ”So, uh... is ’The Man Who Wants to Be a Witch Doctor’ really that skilled and famous?”

The moment the words left his mouth, the entire room fell silent once more.

Everyone stared at him, wide-eyed, their expressions a picture of utter disbelief, as if they had just heard the most incredible thing imaginable.

”Zhao Yuan, are you messing with us?” Ma Guotao asked.

Everyone nodded in unison, all feeling that Ma Guotao had spoken what was on all their minds.
