I Married the President

Chapter 296: Chapter 296: Close Enough to Share Socks

Claire Sinclair started to turn, but Adrian Quincy seized the opportunity to steal a kiss on her lips before letting her go.

After taking a few steps, Claire Sinclair suddenly remembered—the livestream was still on!

’I’m so screwed!’

Even though the camera was pointed down and couldn’t capture what they were doing from the waist up, their proximity and their conversation had all been broadcast live!

The comments in the livestream had already gone completely off the rails.

[So is Mrs. Quincy the real Mrs. Quincy?]

[Mrs. Quincy, are you and Young Master Quincy together now?]

[I came here to see the disaster situation, but I got hit with this unexpected PDA instead.]

[I’m so confused. Did I walk onto the wrong set?]

[This can’t be right. I must be seeing things.]

[Molly Sinclair, are you together with my idol?]

Claire Sinclair read a few of the comments and didn’t dare scroll down any further. She guiltily offered an explanation:

”Young Master Quincy and I are just friends—the kind of close where you could wear each other’s socks. Please don’t jump to conclusions. We both came here for work. I’m going to end the stream for now to save battery. I’ll start it again once I’m in the disaster zone.”

After her explanation, she quickly paused the livestream.

Once she was on the rescue boat, Claire Sinclair started her livestream again. She pointed the camera at the vast, yellow expanse of water and explained, ”My current position is right on top of the floodwaters. To be precise, I’m above Garlan Town. The entire town has been submerged by this deluge, right beneath my feet.

”As you can see, the floodwaters are all yellow. It rained again last night, causing the water level to rise a little more, though it’s not visible to the naked eye...”

She continued her commentary along the way, and the viewers watched with bated breath.

[Oh my god, the entire town is submerged!]

[Thankfully, it’s just a flood. They can rebuild their homes once the water recedes. It would be much worse if it were a mudslide or a landslide.]

[But the flood is really serious too! We don’t even know how many people didn’t make it out.]

[Praying for the disaster zone!]

[Praying!]

...

Claire Sinclair didn’t have time to read the comments. As soon as the rescue boat reached the shore, she immediately stepped onto dry land.

Next, she had to head to the temporary shelter to film. The path along the way was all damp earth and rock. Some spots were very slippery, and she almost fell several times. Fortunately, her balance was good, and she managed to stay on her feet.

After filming for about an hour, a low-battery warning popped up on her phone, and at the same time, she received a data usage alert.

Claire Sinclair had no choice but to face the camera and say, ”Everyone, my phone is about to die, and I just ran out of data. The next stream will have to wait until I can recharge my phone.”

[That’s okay, we’ll wait for you to come back.]

[What’s your number? I’ll top up your data for you.]

[Goddess, please give us your phone number!]

[Goddess, I’m willing to pay for your phone bill!]

Claire Sinclair ended the livestream, planning to use the last bit of battery to take a few photos.

Suddenly, she received a top-up notification: Dear customer, you have successfully topped up your account with 100,000.00 yuan at 10:42 AM on October 12, 20XX. Reply 1001 to check your balance. We give 100% effort for your 10/10 satisfaction!

’Holy shit!’

’A 100,000 yuan phone credit top-up???’

’Which big spender did this?!’

Claire Sinclair barely had to think about it; an answer immediately popped into her head.

’A big spender who knows my number, watches my livestreams, and can casually drop 100,000 yuan on a phone bill top-up... Ethan Kingsley is the only one it could be.’

Just as she thought of this, a WeChat message popped up.

Ethan Kingsley: Star Reporter Sinclair, did you get the ”care package” phone credit? Take good care of yourself in the disaster zone. As soon as the flood recedes, I’ll immediately donate 30 million.

’30 million...’

’He can’t be serious, can he?’
