I Married the President

Chapter 294: Chapter 294: Let’s Go Together

Adrian Quincy walked up to her. ”There’s a bucket of rainwater by the entrance. You can use it to wash your face. Someone will bring food over in a bit.”

Claire Sinclair looked down at herself. Her body was filthy and sticky, her clothes caked with sweat, rain, floodwater, and mud. She hadn’t bathed in days and was starting to smell. She really wanted to change clothes.

”I want to change. Can you step outside for a moment?”

”How many days has it been since you’ve bathed?”

”Not since I came up the mountain. It’s been four or five days, I think...”

”How about a bath?”

”No, no, no! If I take a bath here, people will call me pretentious!” She was here for disaster relief, not to enjoy special treatment. Claire Sinclair understood this perfectly.

Adrian Quincy frowned slightly. ”I haven’t washed in seven days, either. I wanted to change into the clothes you brought yesterday, but I couldn’t bear to get them dirty, so I didn’t. We’ll go bathe together. As long as we’re quick, it won’t be a problem.”

”Bathe... together?”

The mere sound of those two words was enough to make Claire Sinclair’s face flush and her heart race.

Adrian Quincy nodded. ”There’s no hot water here. I’ll take a bath, and you can just wipe yourself down.”

”Then you go wash first, and I’ll go after—”

”There’s not enough time to go one by one. We’ll go together.”

With that, the man picked up the backpack he had brought, took her hand, and led her into the adjacent tent.

Though called a tent, it was actually just a makeshift bathroom, an enclosure of tarps with no roof.

Adrian Quincy ushered her inside first, then personally carried in a bucket of ’all-natural’ rainwater. After pulling the flap shut, he casually started taking off his clothes.

Claire Sinclair stared blankly at the single bucket of water, and the lone towel within it...

”Um, why is there only one towel?”

Adrian Quincy asked softly, ”Did you bring a towel?”

Claire Sinclair shook her head. ”No.”

Adrian Quincy admitted frankly, ”This is the only one I have.”

The implication was clear: they would have to share.

Claire Sinclair looked embarrassed. ”I’m filthy. I’ll get your towel dirty, and the water too. Maybe I should just skip it...”

As soon as the words left her mouth, she felt an itch on her back and reached around to scratch it.

Unfortunately, she couldn’t quite reach the itchy spot.

Adrian Quincy’s brow furrowed slightly. ”Your back itches?”

”Yeah, it feels like something’s crawling on me. Don’t tell me I’m getting lice!”

”You should wipe yourself down. If you wait too long, you really will get lice.”

’I’ll really get lice???’

Even though Claire Sinclair wasn’t some obsessive clean freak, the mention of lice was enough to make her panic. ’A girl with lice? Unthinkable!’

Without a second thought, Claire Sinclair spun around, presenting her back to him. ”Quick, help me check if I have lice! I don’t want to get lice!”

Adrian Quincy nodded slightly and took a look for her. He didn’t see any lice. What he did see, however, was a long strand of her hair.

...

Outside the ’bathroom,’ a crowd had gathered at some point. It included Aiden Howkins and Nancy Lockwood, and the rest were injured personnel with no current duties.

Listening to the sounds of their blatant PDA from the shower stall, everyone wore expressions of envy.

Young Master Quincy was a legend on the battlefield, an undefeated myth. No one expected him to be so completely devoted to pampering his wife in private...

After scrubbing the mud off her body, Claire Sinclair quickly made her escape, having changed into a set of clean clothes.

She wasn’t sure if it was her imagination, but she thought she saw a few shadows as she came out. They vanished in the blink of an eye.

’Probably just my imagination.’

Back in the tent, Claire Sinclair picked up a pen and wrote a simple outline so she wouldn’t miss any important information during her livestream later.

Just as she finished, Adrian Quincy walked in from outside.
