I Married the President

Chapter 276: Chapter 276: Mom Will Definitely Take Care of This for You

Just as she was about to climb out the window, a red laser dot suddenly landed on her face.

Yara Quincy froze. She had no choice but to back away and silently shut the window.

’That brother of mine actually sent snipers to watch me!’

’I’m screwed...’

’Knowing my brother, if I tried to sneak out, the snipers outside wouldn’t hesitate to break my legs!’

’What should I do???’

’The longer I wait, the slimmer my chances of escape. And then I’ll be locked up in prison...’

Even though it was just a fetus a little over two months old, under Aridian law, an unborn child is considered a life. And judges are always very sympathetic toward pregnant women.

’In a situation like mine, there’s no escaping a five-year sentence. The worst-case scenario is ten years.’

’Whether it’s five or ten years, once I’m in prison, my future career is ruined. I don’t want that kind of black mark on my record.’

Just as her thoughts were racing, there was a sudden knock on the door. ”Yara, it’s me.”

”Mom...” A thrill of hope shot through Yara Quincy. She rushed to the door and pulled her mother into the room. ”Mom, you have to save me! I don’t want to go to jail. Please, save me!” she begged, bursting into tears.

Seeing her precious daughter in tears, Mrs. Quincy’s heart nearly broke. ”Yara, what in the world happened? Why is your brother suing you?”

”Mom, I really know I was wrong now...” Yara Quincy sobbed. She thought about what she had done, her stomach churning with regret.

’If only I’d known that woman was so fragile, I would’ve just cussed her out. Why couldn’t I control my explosive temper and get physical...’

’She regretted it deeply. But what good was regret now?’

’My brother was never going to forgive me.’

Mrs. Quincy’s heart ached. She soothed her daughter as she asked, ”Stop crying. Mom will handle this for you. First, tell me what happened.”

”It’s that woman, Claire Sinclair! It’s all her fault!” Despite her regret, Yara Quincy didn’t think she had gone too far.

’I barely touched her. It’s her own fault for being so weak. If it had been Quinn, *I’d* be the one getting beaten up. Claire Sinclair is just a total weakling!’

Hearing that name, Mrs. Quincy’s face instantly darkened. ”Her again? Did she bully you?”

”No, Mom. I just couldn’t stand her and wanted to teach her a lesson. Who knew she was so weak? I just gave her a little kick, and she had a miscarriage.”

”A miscarriage?!” Mrs. Quincy was stunned.

Yara Quincy’s face was a mask of misery. ”Mom, I’ve thought about it since then. I even bought that woman a ton of health supplements. She’s perfectly fine now, up and about. There’s nothing wrong with her! You have to go talk to my brother and tell him not to sue me. I don’t want to go to jail! I really know I was wrong! Mom, save me!”

Mrs. Quincy’s expression was grim, her eyes unreadable. She asked calmly, ”Are you saying Claire Sinclair was pregnant?”

”Yeah. But the woman is unbelievably stupid. She didn’t even know she was pregnant herself. I had a doctor give her abortion pills, and she didn’t even notice. How is a woman like her worthy of having my brother’s child? Any kid she had would be an imbecile. Don’t you agree, Mom?”

”Nonsense!” Mrs. Quincy snapped, startling Yara Quincy.

As much as she doted on her daughter, as a mother herself, how could she accept hearing her say such a thing?

”No matter what, Claire Sinclair was carrying the Quincy family’s bloodline! It was your brother’s first child! What man doesn’t want children? But you killed it. And even now, you’re still spouting such childish nonsense. No wonder your brother wants to sue you.”
