I Married the President

Chapter 259: Chapter 259: Changing at Will

Claire Sinclair cast a sympathetic glance at Phoebe Lockwood, who looked ready to dig a hole and hide in it. She wondered, ’Everyone else’s desk is neat and tidy. How come Eldest Miss Lockwood’s is the only one that isn’t...?’

’Maybe she just got back and didn’t have time to clean up?’

’Then again, why am I thinking about such pointless things? I must have too much time on my hands.’

Claire Sinclair smiled awkwardly. ”My desk is just that empty one over there. Nothing to see. I’ll take you to meet my teacher. He’s a very impressive man. Come on.”

With that, Claire Sinclair grabbed his wrist and, with everyone watching, dragged him toward Henry Hartwell’s office.

Everyone stared, stunned.

Did Claire Sinclair just grab Little Prince Hale’s hand???

It didn’t take long for people to snap out of it and turn to look at Phoebe Lockwood with peculiar expressions.

Hadn’t Lockwood said she’d received Little Prince Hale before? But just now, it was obvious the prince didn’t know her at all.

It turned out she was bragging.

For the governor’s daughter to be caught telling such a far-fetched lie... it was just baffling...

Realizing her colleagues’ strange looks, Phoebe Lockwood suddenly stood up and left the office without a word, looking for all the world like she was running away with her tail between her legs.

...

Despite Claire Sinclair’s haste, Little Prince Hale still caught a glimpse of her desk.

It was neat and clean, yet piled high with documents. It was clear she was a very busy person.

Before they had even reached Henry Hartwell’s office, Little Prince Hale immediately apologized, ”I’m very sorry. Am I disturbing your work?”

Claire Sinclair said with a smile, ”It’s alright. I can just work some overtime tomorrow to catch up.”

”I’m sorry,” Little Prince Hale apologized again.

Just then, they arrived at the door to Henry Hartwell’s office.

Claire Sinclair knocked first, only leading him in after receiving permission.

The moment they entered, a faint, fresh scent filled the air. The office was spotless—it had clearly been cleaned. And at some point, Henry Hartwell had changed into a suit, making him look just like a young nobleman.

’Teacher Hartwell really is a man of many faces,’ she thought. ’He can transform however he wants. It’s incredible!’

Claire Sinclair felt something she couldn’t quite put her finger on. In any case, she was at a loss for words.

Once Henry Hartwell took over, there was basically nothing left for Claire Sinclair to do.

She listened as Henry Hartwell conversed with Little Prince Hale in flawless, fluent English, discussing everything under the sun. It was only then that she realized he possessed a level of insight and profound opinions far beyond that of an ordinary person.

From grand topics like the art of governing a nation down to the everyday lives of the people, from finance and economics to the internet and industry... there seemed to be nothing he didn’t understand. Every word he spoke rang with truth. ’What a waste,’ she thought. ’With such eloquence, he should be a diplomat.’

Little Prince Hale was impressive in his own right, offering his own unique perspectives. He and Henry Hartwell hit it off immediately, their conversation growing more and more passionate.

Claire Sinclair sat quietly to one side, dutifully refilling their teacups whenever they were empty. Listening to them speak was incredibly enriching, and she felt she was learning a great deal.

Before they knew it, the sky began to grow dark.

Henry Hartwell and Little Prince Hale were still deep in conversation, not yet having had their fill, when they were interrupted by the sound of a rumbling stomach.

Claire Sinclair clutched her stomach, her face flush with embarrassment. ”Excuse me, I’m starving...”

’If I don’t get something to eat soon, I’m going to faint right here.’

Henry Hartwell chuckled. ”Your hunger has perfect timing. What do you want to eat? My treat.”

”Thirteen-spice crawfish!” Claire Sinclair and Little Prince Hale said in unison.

Henry Hartwell looked at the two of them in surprise.

Claire Sinclair smiled. ”We already made plans before he came. Teacher Hartwell, let’s go eat thirteen-spice crawfish!”

”Alright, thirteen-spice crawfish it is.”
