BTTH: Rebirth of Liu Xi

Some sat calmly, while others despaired.

Yao Dan was already consumed by anxiety, but even Lei Ying and Yan Jin were beginning to lose the courage to continue. There was no hope of victory in sight.

Flames raged violently, lightning roared with unmatched force—yet once either entered the Death Qi, they vanished like stones into the sea, leaving no sound behind.

Hun Yuantian, Hun Tiansheng, and their two companions fought cunningly. They knew Lei Ying and Yan Jin drew immense power from their formations. At the same time, the four of them were burdened with maintaining the Death World Formation, limiting their strength. Thus, they chose to move like shadows—appearing and vanishing at will—infuriating their enemies.

Lei Ying roared and punched out, summoning a lightning dragon thousands of zhang long. The dragon howled and lunged toward Hun Tiansheng, whose shadowy form flickered in the darkness.

But Hun Tiansheng didn’t flinch. With a sweep of his sleeves, endless Death Qi poured forth, condensing into countless giant serpents that coiled and lunged. The lightning dragon was soon entangled, devoured completely as the serpents burned away under its power—both sides perishing together.

By the time the light faded, Hun Tiansheng had vanished once more into the darkness, unharmed.

Lei Ying’s frustration boiled over. Through the sound transmission between formations, he growled to Yan Jin, ”What do we do? I didn’t expect the Void Devouring Flame to be a 9-Star Dou Saint! Damn it—wasn’t he heavily wounded by Gu Yuan? How did his strength recover so fast?”

Yan Jin’s situation was no better. The power of his Heavenly Flame was terrifying, but the situation had deteriorated beyond salvation. One man alone could no longer turn the tide.

After a long silence, he spoke grimly, ”We strike with everything we have—break the formation. As for the Yao Clan... give it up. Lead your elites out of here. One defeat is nothing—but if we lose our best, it’s over.”

Lei Ying fell silent. It was betrayal, yes, but he could not deny the truth. His soldiers’ lives came first.

”Fine. Together, then. We’ll use Hun Yuantian as the breach point. Destroy that Deathly Silence Gate—or none of us will make it out alive. If possible, take the Yao Clan’s elites with us. We’ll still need their pills for the battles to come.”

”Agreed,” Yan Jin replied softly. Then both waited for the right moment.

——

”What did you say? Hun Huzi is dead?! And those others—Hun Shi, Hun Tu—Hun Huzi may have been useless, but he was still a 7-Star Dou Saint! Other than Lei Ying and Yan Jin, who could have possibly killed him?”

The Void Devouring Flame’s voice thundered across the sky, echoing with rage.

Its soul was incomplete and its consciousness unstable. Emperor Yao’s final self-sacrificial strike had been no mere blow—it had torn into the very essence of the flame’s soul.

The loss had forced it to fall from 9-Star Dou Saint to the peak of 8-Star Dou Saint.

Before it stood a terrified Hun Clan Dou Saint, trembling under the oppressive aura. The Void Devouring Flame’s position within the clan was second only to Hun Tiandi himself—far above even the Four Ancestors and Four Demon Saints.

Calming slightly, it turned its eyes toward the distant formations—one flashing with lightning, the other blazing with fire. The Ten Thousand Lightning Prison Formation and the Flame Abyss Demon-Sealing Formation—Lei Ying and Yan Jin were the eyes of both.

”The Ancient Void Dragon Tribe?” it asked coldly.

The Dou Saint lowered his head quickly. ”No, my lord. The two envoys from the Ancient Void Dragon Tribe have not moved (Liu Xi’s illusion still sits upon the platform). They remain exactly where they were—silent.”

”Heh... interesting. Very interesting.”

A cold sneer spread across its faceless visage. Icy killing intent surged outward, freezing even the Death Qi around it. The sheer pressure nearly made the trembling Dou Saint faint.

Though injured, the Void Devouring Flame was still one of the most terrifying existences under heaven. Someone had dared to strike within its domain. The audacity enraged it beyond measure.

But instead of searching one by one, it decided simply to slaughter everyone in the Yao Clan’s Spatial Realm. There would be no one left to hide.

Its gaze turned toward the Flame Abyss Demon-Sealing Formation and locked onto the figure at its core—Yan Jin, wreathed in blazing fire. That flame carried the aura of a Heavenly Flame, stirring greed within the Void Devouring Flame’s heart.

Its strength was greatly reduced. To recover quickly, it needed to devour another source of origin—and Heavenly Flames shared its lineage.

Flames devouring flames was the law of their kind. Most were beneath its notice—but this one, the fusion of the Nine Serene Golden Ancestor Flame and the Fire Mountain Rock Flame, barely qualified.

”Hun Yuantian and Hun Tiansheng—useless trash. They can’t even finish off Lei Ying and Yan Jin. Forget it. I’ll handle them myself.”

Its voice was casual, dripping with arrogance. Even weakened, it feared neither of the two.

’And then... I’ll find out who dares to kill under my nose.’

—

”Thunder Shakes the Nine Heavens!” Lei Ying roared.

”Flame that Suppresses Demons!” Yan Jin’s shout followed.

From the sea of black lightning, bolts surged wildly, twisting and merging above the sky. A massive lightning dragon—tens of thousands of zhang long—formed amidst the storm. Its scales shimmered with streaks of gold hidden in pitch-black arcs, the lightning pure to the extreme, close to evolving into the legendary Nine Mysterious Golden Lightning.

It was the combined might of the Ten Thousand Lightning Prison Formation—an attack powerful enough to rival a 9-Star Dou Saint.

Across from it, molten lava flooded the heavens, forming a crimson magma dragon that loomed high above the clouds. Its eyes gleamed with supreme authority, its roar shaking the world.

At their masters’ cries, the two dragons moved. In a flash, the sky blazed with streaks of light.

The air froze. Hun Yuantian appeared, smirking—then the smile froze as well.

The sealed space locked him completely. No escape.

The lightning dragon and the magma dragon crashed into him together. Everything was obliterated—space shattered, leaving only a void of blackness that devoured sound and light alike.

Boom!

In that instant, Hun Yuantian, once among the top of the 8-Star Dou Saints, was annihilated—reduced to nothing.

The twin dragons coiled together, tearing through the Death Qi like scissors through silk. The darkness was ripped apart, light flooding the heavens once more.

And before them—one of the four Deathly Silence Gates was cleaved in half. With one gate destroyed, the Death World Formation was no longer complete.

But the Ten Thousand Lightning Prison Formation and the Flame Abyss Demon-Sealing Formation also began to dim, their power waning rapidly.

——

”The Lei and Yan Clans are doing quite well,” Liu Xi murmured with a faint smile. ”The longer this chaos lasts, the better. The messier it gets—the easier it will be for me to take the Void Devouring Flame.”

His smile deepened.
