BTTH: Rebirth of Liu Xi

”In my youth, I too was arrogant,” Yao Ming said, his tone filled with lingering awe. ”I once tried to unravel the cultivation method of Yellow Spring Divine Anger. But the moment my soul entered that tablet, I was instantly repelled—my soul heavily injured, and it took many years before I recovered.”

The expression on his face was one of reverence, a kind of fear etched into his very bones. The remnant soul of the Yellow Spring Demon Saint had left a mark that time itself could not erase.

”Even now,” Yao Ming murmured, ”I can feel that if I were to attempt it again, my soul would fare no better than before.”

Liu Xi quietly observed him. Even weakened, the remnant soul of the Demon Saint was one that had once reached the Emperor Realm of Soul Cultivation. As a Magical Beast who had never trained in the ways of the soul, Yao Ming’s Spiritual Power was only on par with that of an ordinary 7th Tier Alchemist—how could he withstand the might of an Emperor Realm Soul?

Liu Xi smiled faintly, his gaze burning with anticipation as he looked upon the ancient stone tablet. ”Let me see,” he whispered, ”just how formidable a soul that surpasses even the Heaven Realm can be. Don’t disappoint me.”

Forming a complex seal with his hands, a faint breeze seemed to ripple through the air. A translucent figure drifted out of Liu Xi’s body—it was his spirit form, identical in appearance but devoid of emotion, its eyes cold enough to chill the bone.

Without hesitation, the spirit glided forward and merged into the Yellow Spring Stone Tablet. A massive wave of power burst forth from the tablet, surging to eject him—but failed.

Liu Xi’s body swayed slightly, stepping back several paces, while beside him Yao Ming groaned as if his very soul had been struck by a hammer. Pain twisted his face, yet what truly stunned him was that Liu Xi’s eyes were still open—clear, bright, and conscious.

This wasn’t logical!

Everyone knew that once the soul left the body, the vessel should fall still. Yet here Liu Xi stood, perfectly conscious. That spirit from before was definitely his soul, and the Spiritual Power radiating from it was overwhelmingly vast—a Late Heaven Realm Soul, at least!

’Still... how could his body remain animated without its soul? Could it be... he had already transcended humanity itself?’

Liu Xi glanced at Yao Ming’s bewildered expression and chuckled lightly. ”You’re overthinking it.”

The explanation—or lack thereof—only deepened Yao Ming’s reverence. The more he learned, the less he understood.

Inside the tablet, Liu Xi found himself within a boundless gray expanse. His Spiritual Perception could not pierce it, as though the very air resisted the spread of the soul. In the farthest reaches of sight, an immense temple loomed, ancient and majestic, exuding an aura that belonged to a bygone era.

”Yellow Spring Demon Saint... truly worthy of a title near the Dou Di Realm,” Liu Xi said quietly.

He stepped forward, and immediately, the heavens rumbled. Endless lightning tore through the gray sky, crashing down like serpents of destruction. With calm precision, Liu Xi formed a shimmering soul barrier around himself—a sphere of translucent light that deflected each bolt.

Though thin as silk, it was unyielding as steel. Lightning cascaded around him, exploding and twisting, but not a single spark breached his defense.

Halfway through, Liu Xi raised his voice, his tone faintly amused. ”Demon Saint, one who once stood closest to the Dou Di Realm—if you wish to stop me, these petty tricks won’t do. Show me your true power!”

As his words fell, the thunder ceased. The storm above twisted into a vast vortex, gray clouds condensing into a swirling abyss. From its heart shot forth a colossal finger of deep yellow energy, descending with the weight of judgment itself.

Yellow Spring Finger!

Liu Xi waved his sleeve. From beneath its folds, waves of azure flame surged outward, spinning into a blazing sun that radiated blinding light and searing heat. With a motion of his palm, the azure sun shot forward, colliding with the descending finger.

A deafening explosion followed, the clash birthing a storm of fire and cold. The shockwave shattered space itself, ripples of energy sweeping outward in devastating waves.

Liu Xi didn’t even glance back, continuing his advance. But as he drew nearer to the temple, the ground beneath him convulsed—a massive yellow hand burst forth from the misty depths, reaching up to seize him.

Yellow Spring Palm!

Liu Xi’s expression didn’t change. His hand traced a slow arc before him, azure flames roiling in response. Infused with overwhelming Spiritual Power, the flames expanded into a thousand-zhang-wide palm, pressing down from the heavens.

When the two palms collided—Boom!

The world itself quaked. Fire and shadow intertwined, forming an apocalyptic tempest that threatened to consume all existence.

Through the chaos, Liu Xi pressed forward, drawing near to the temple. Now only ten zhang away, he could clearly see the deep yellow throne upon the dais—ancient, dignified, weathered by time. Upon it, streams of gray mist began to gather, coalescing into the figure of a man.

The man was clad in yellow robes, his face youthful yet ancient, sword-like brows and piercing eyes exuding both weariness and dominance. His very presence commanded reverence.

”Young one,” the figure’s voice rumbled through the space, ”you should not have come. Leave now, and your soul shall remain intact.”

Liu Xi’s face was calm, his tone indifferent. ”If you never wished for successors, why leave your inheritance and blood essence behind? You simply think me unworthy of them. But if I do not try, how will you ever know I am not?”

The Yellow Spring Demon Saint’s expression flickered with surprise. So many who reached this place had trembled before him, but this youth remained utterly composed—his resolve unwavering, his spirit like steel.

”You possess talent indeed,” the Saint finally said. ”Your soul has reached the Late Heaven Realm—stronger than most of that level. But I have long surpassed even the limits of Heaven Realm perfection. I will grant your request. Pass my trial, and my inheritance and blood essence shall be yours. Fail... and you will perish.”

Liu Xi met his gaze head-on, his voice steady, neither humble nor arrogant.

”Demon Saint, please—begin.”

The Yellow Spring Demon Saint rose slowly from his throne. At that moment, the very air froze; his will blanketed the realm, and all of space bowed beneath it.

”As you wish,” the Saint intoned. ”There is only one trial—surviving my Yellow Spring Divine Anger.”
