BTTH: Rebirth of Liu Xi

Deep within the Ancient Wasteland Region, the colossal Bodhisattva Ancient Tree stood tall and majestic. Its vast canopy stretched toward the heavens, countless branches spreading with lush green vitality. Streams of pure energy swirled around it, gathering above its crown and morphing into ever-changing shapes—mountains, beasts, rivers—ethereal and divine.

Yet, at the true heart of this sacred domain stood a smaller tree—barely ten zhang tall—swaying gently like a playful child. Its branches rustled softly, and the whisper of its leaves carried a curious liveliness that no ancient giant should have possessed.

Not far away, Liu Xi’s hands danced through a series of seals, controlling blazing azure flames that wrapped around several Bodhisattva Seeds, refining them evenly in the void.

Under the intense heat of the Heavenly Flame, even those incredibly resilient seeds gradually melted. They turned into waves of shimmering, pure energy that condensed but did not disperse, drifting gently through the air.

Each time the tranquil energy appeared, the Bodhisattva Ancient Tree would eagerly draw it in, merging it with its own essence. The light surrounding it grew clearer, while the faint, grayish resentment that clung to it began to dissolve.

Delighted, the tree shook its branches again. Another batch of more than twenty Bodhisattva Seeds fell and floated toward Liu Xi.

Liu Xi could only smile wryly. ’Only the Bodhisattva Ancient Tree would treat something like this so casually...’

In the outside world, twenty Bodhisattva Seeds would be enough to make the Ancient Clans go mad. Yet this ancient being tossed them away like candy, and Liu Xi—its temporary ”worker”—had no choice but to refine them all.

The azure flame expanded, writhing like dragons and serpents. The seeds melted one after another, releasing vast amounts of purifying energy that drifted toward the tree.

Each wisp that entered was absorbed to purge the lingering resentment of that slain Dou Di.

The process continued—again and again. The Bodhisattva Ancient Tree kept shaking with excitement, scattering more seeds as though they were endless. To cleanse the hatred of a Dou Di was no small task; it was like filling a bottomless abyss with light.

Even with Liu Xi’s immense Dou Qi—refined through nine evolutions until it was as vast as an ocean—his energy began to drain rapidly, nearly half of it gone.

Half! That was more than he had spent cutting through the entire Beast Tide earlier.

Sensing his exhaustion, the Bodhisattva Ancient Tree paused. One of its branches extended and gently rested upon his head.

Boom!

A powerful surge of life energy flooded into Liu Xi’s body like divine nectar pouring through his veins. The sensation was invigorating, filling every damaged channel and even mending flaws left from his earlier rapid breakthrough to the Half Saint realm.

He had forced that advance using the Fire Bead Gel, leaving minor imperfections in his foundation—but now, under this life-giving current, everything was being restored and polished to perfection.

Liu Xi could feel his Dou Qi becoming denser, more refined. His body resonated with new strength—it was a pleasant surprise.

”Ha, not bad...” he murmured, a faint grin curving his lips. With the tree replenishing his Dou Qi, he could refine endlessly. The azure flame roared brighter, and his efficiency soared.

The Bodhisattva Ancient Tree is better than any recovery elixir! A true living source of energy!

His Dou Qi surged again, not only restored but beginning to rise toward the threshold of a Mid Half Saint.

Before him, the azure flame seethed and danced. Another batch of seeds melted away, releasing pure, tranquil energy that flowed into the ancient tree.

Each wave of cleansing energy diminished the lingering gray miasma further. The tree’s branches trembled joyfully, expressing its gratitude in rustling whispers.

After countless years, the resentment that had bound it was nearly gone.

Then came the final batch—thirty-seven Bodhisattva Seeds, glimmering like tiny suns. The Bodhisattva Ancient Tree seemed determined to end it all in one great cleansing.

Liu Xi didn’t hesitate. The flames surged once more, enveloping the seeds. In moments, their shells dissolved into radiant light that streamed into the tree.

The purifying energy coursed through its trunk, washing away the last vestiges of that ancient curse. The oppressive gloom vanished, replaced by a serene, sacred aura that flooded the land.

The Bodhisattva Ancient Tree’s pure presence spread outward, vast and peaceful, filling every corner of the region with calm.

This tree was never evil. Born of heaven and earth, its incomplete wisdom made it defensive, not malicious. It killed only to survive, never to harm.

Now, with its burden lifted, the Bodhisattva Ancient Tree seemed truly alive. Its branches danced and leaves shimmered, laughter echoing in their rustle.

Then, one of its glowing tendrils extended, tapping lightly upon a luminous orb nearby—the same orb that had trapped Qing Lin within illusion.

With a soft crack, the orb shattered, and Qing Lin was freed.

She blinked, dazed at first, then swiftly regained her focus. Her slender form landed gracefully upon the ground, her face still pale from lingering fear.

Her eyes darted warily around—first toward the small Bodhisattva Ancient Tree, then toward Liu Xi. Relief flickered across her face, though a trace of caution remained.

”Young Master?” she called hesitantly.

Liu Xi smiled warmly. He could tell from her reaction that her illusion must have involved him—likely a distorted vision of betrayal or loss.

”It’s me,” he said. ”You’re safe now. This isn’t an illusion. That tree over there created it—but it means no harm to us.”

Hearing that, Qing Lin relaxed visibly, her memory returning. A soft smile replaced her tension, though her eyes still held faint unease from what she’d endured.

At that moment, the Bodhisattva Ancient Tree trembled again. A radiant orb of light—like a beating energy heart—rose from its trunk, drifting toward them.

A branch extended, gently cradling the orb and presenting it to Liu Xi as though offering a gift.

His breath caught. The brilliance, the purity—he recognized it instantly.

”The Bodhisattva Heart...” he whispered, eyes wide with astonishment. The legendary treasure said to grant instant enlightenment—the chance to become a Dou Saint!

He clasped his hands respectfully. ”Many thanks, Senior.”

Then, slowly, he reached out and touched the light.

The Bodhisattva Heart flared brilliantly—then dissolved into pure radiance, flowing straight into his body.

Before he could even comprehend the transformation taking place within him, the Bodhisattva Ancient Tree’s branch lightly tapped his forehead.

In that instant, Liu Xi’s vision blurred—the world spun—and his consciousness was drawn into the endless wheel of reincarnation.
