BTTH: Rebirth of Liu Xi

Yunlan Mountain stood proudly to the north of Jia Ma Sacred City, its towering peaks shrouded in thin layers of drifting mist. Pavilions and towers nestled along the slopes, the whole mountain exuding an ethereal beauty that made it seem like a paradise hidden amidst the clouds. This was once the Yunlan Sect, now transformed into the headquarters of the Heavenly Alliance. After several large-scale expansions, the mountain had become even more majestic and mysterious—so much so that no outsiders could even dream of approaching its inner sanctums.

At the rear of Yunlan Mountain, an enormous crimson cauldron sat in the middle of a wide stone terrace. The surface of the cauldron was carved with countless beast totems that seemed almost alive; under the reflection of a dancing cyan flame, those patterns appeared to move, their fierce visages giving the illusion that they would break free and roar toward the heavens at any moment.

Liu Xi sat cross-legged before the cauldron, eyes burning with sharp brilliance. Within the flickering cyan flames, the medicinal herbs were roasted to perfection, their essence shimmering faintly. He was refining pills once more. Now that he had returned as a Dou Saint, his strength was no longer bound by the limitations of the past. With an abundance of rare materials in hand, it was only natural that he would put them to use and transform them into something truly valuable.

Among the ingredients was a Bodhisattva Seed. Though inferior to the Bodhisattva Heart, it still had the miraculous ability to help a peak 9-Turn Dou Zun break through to the Half Saint realm. At this moment, that was exactly what Qing Lin needed most. In the Hundred Lifetimes Reincarnations, Liu Xi had modified the original Bodhisattva Pill based on immense data and personal experience, creating an improved version that tripled the success rate of breaking through from 20% to nearly 60%. Thus, he named it the Bodhisattva Enhancement Pill.

The effects were remarkable—anyone who used it would know its worth immediately.

Over the past weeks, with the limited supply of medicinal ingredients, Liu Xi had already refined two Bodhisattva Enhancement Pills. Now, he was working on the third. One would be for Qing Lin, another reserved for Yun Yun, and the last would be sealed within the alliance’s treasury as a treasure of motivation—to inspire future generations to cultivate harder.

As the seals of his fingers shifted continuously, the cyan flame roared beneath the cauldron. The medicinal herbs melted into a pale, milky liquid. A faint smile appeared on Liu Xi’s face as hundreds of purified essences rose into the air, merging above the cauldron, each maintaining its distance like proud sovereigns unwilling to mingle.

Spiritual Power surged endlessly from Liu Xi’s soul, filling every inch of the cauldron. Every fluctuation of heat, every shift of liquid essence was reflected back into his mind with perfect precision.

”Almost there,” Liu Xi murmured softly. With a twist of his will, he began the most critical step of all—condensing the pill.

The liquid essences merged together, forming a single, swirling mass of radiant energy. It rippled violently, waves of pressure bursting outward, as though it sought to tear apart the cauldron and escape. Liu Xi’s gaze sharpened. ”Still not yielding? Then condense for me!” His Spiritual Power suddenly expanded with overwhelming might. The cyan flame flared like an enraged dragon, its heat so fierce that space itself began to waver.

With a low rumble, a dragon-shaped flame surged upward from the cauldron. The blazing beast opened its maw and swallowed the condensed medicinal liquid like a dragon pearl, continuously breathing its searing flame over it to temper its shape. With his current vast Dou Qi and radiant Spiritual Power, this process was effortless for Liu Xi.

Four days passed in this intense refinement. Within the cauldron, the fire dragon coiled protectively around a small, emerald-green pill the size of a dragon’s eye. Though not yet fully formed, it already exuded a faint, sacred aura, its surface uneven but pulsing with life.

Liu Xi’s expression softened with satisfaction. With another gesture, his soul radiance burst forth like a dazzling constellation, threads of light gently weaving into the half-formed pill. The pill’s surface flickered with a faint glow as a wave of sentient energy began to emerge from within—it was developing its own spirit.

Unlike ordinary 8th Tier Pills, this pill possessed something far more profound. Beyond its boundless energy and purer spirit, it contained a trace of human essence—an awareness of its own existence, capable of seeking fortune and avoiding disaster. That tiny spark of consciousness marked the divide between a mere high-grade pill and a true treasure of heaven and earth.

Then came the final moment.

Boom! A thunderous explosion erupted from within the cauldron as the fire dragon roared skyward. The pill’s completion stirred the world itself; a blinding pillar of light shot straight into the heavens, piercing through clouds and summoning the wrath of the skies. Winds howled, clouds churned, and thunder rumbled with apocalyptic fury. Dense black storm clouds gathered above the mountain, heavy with annihilating might—the sign of the feared Black Demon Lightning, a tribulation even more terrifying than the Nine-Colored Pill Lightning.

”Black Demon Lightning, huh? Ah San, it’s your turn.”

Liu Xi smiled faintly, utterly calm in the face of the storm. The Black Demon Lightning was a force that even Dou Saints treated with caution, yet he merely tilted his head upward. A flash of golden-violet light streaked past him—Ah San, the Heavenly Demon Puppet, shot into the sky like a cannonball, standing fearlessly beneath the roiling thunderclouds.

The puppet’s body radiated the luster of metal and the energy of life. Though only a Half Saint, its body was indestructible; lightning would not destroy it—it would only strengthen it.

Crack! A black bolt descended, carrying the stench of death. The heavens trembled. Ah San raised his fist, his massive metal frame unyielding as he met the strike head-on. The collision exploded with blinding brilliance, collapsing space into a black vortex. Even the mighty puppet staggered under the blow, deep dents marking his chest and arms—but almost instantly, those dents began to mend as the lightning wrapped around him and was absorbed into his body. The absorbed power refined his frame, hardening it to an even greater resilience.

The heavens roared in fury. Thunder upon thunder cascaded down, one bolt after another, each stronger than the last. Ah San was smashed into the mountains below again and again, yet every time, he rose back into the storm, defiant and relentless. Each blast only made him stronger; his aura grew fiercer, his purple-golden glow more radiant, his body resonating like a divine war drum.

At last, the heavens began to weaken. The black storm clouds gradually thinned, their destructive power exhausted by the unyielding puppet. The last bolt—a colossal beam of Black Demon Lightning—descended with world-shattering force. It struck directly upon Ah San’s chest, exploding in a sound that shattered mountains and tore the very fabric of space.

When the light faded, the sky was calm once more. The clouds dispersed, and Ah San floated amidst the silence, his body still glowing faintly with threads of black lightning. His hollow eyes gleamed with a newfound brilliance. The aura around him surged upward once again—he had broken through, reaching the High Level Half Saint realm. Though still a step away from true Dou Saint power, it was a step that countless geniuses could never hope to cross. For a puppet to reach such a level was a miracle in itself.

Liu Xi gazed at the sky, eyes shining with quiet satisfaction. ”Good,” he murmured. ”That’ll do perfectly.”
