Ghost Catching System

The toad thought Chu Hao was going to run, but then it saw an expression that indicated something was off. It turned its head to look at its own shadow. In an instant, the toad felt even more terrified than Chu Hao. It saw that its shadow was not its own, but that of a person!

The toad sprang up, screaming and crying, ”Immeasurable Heavenly Venerate, Amitabha, Jade Emperor of the Three Pure Ones, I’m possessed by a ghost! Kiddo Chu, save me!”

Chu Hao bolted.

A figure stepped out from the toad’s shadow. This person had very white skin, long hair draped over their shoulders, and pupils with eerie, blue, flower-like patterns. The toad almost fainted from fright, then also turned tail and ran.

Chu Hao ran swiftly. When he saw the toad catching up, he yelled, ”Toad, don’t chase me!”

The toad wailed like a child; even seeing a ghost wasn’t usually this terrifying. ”Save me!” it cried. How could it not be terrified? It turned out the Netherworld Person had been on it the whole time, actually hiding in its shadow. Anyone in the toad’s place would have been scared witless.

Behind them, a loud BOOM sounded. Something had broken the sound barrier and, in the blink of an eye, appeared in front of Chu Hao and the toad. The Netherworld Person’s complexion was terrifying, no different from a corpse. It emitted an unknown aura of death that made it impossible to remain calm.

”We can’t run anymore! Toad, let’s deal with him together!” Chu Hao was already prepared for a fight.

The toad, however, turned around and fled without looking back, shouting, ”Heaven spares no one! Kiddo Chu, you’ve finally met your match today!”

Chu Hao: ”...”

That damned toad is going to get me killed! It led the Netherworld Person right to me and then bolted without a word. This time, it really is a case of ’heaven spares no one’!

The Netherworld Person’s target was indeed him. Just then, the Netherworld Person spoke, uttering an incomprehensible language that sounded ancient.

Chu Hao’s face was a mask of bitterness. ”Brother Netherworld Person,” he pleaded, ”take the Soul Treasure, and we’ll call it even. Please, don’t bother me anymore. When I have time, I’ll come and apologize properly. Goodbye!”

Chu Hao turned and fled, his speed incredibly fast. However, he suddenly felt a chill creep up his back—a strong sense of crisis. His heart pounded, and without a second thought, he activated the Iron Bone Curse Seal. The Iron Bone Curse Seal reinforced his skin, flesh, and bones, making his defense astonishing.

BOOM!

An explosive force struck him from behind. Chu Hao was sent flying like a cannonball for a hundred meters before crashing into the ruins, spitting blood. Chu Hao cried out in pain. His back burned fiercely, and he could even smell the scent of his own roasted flesh. The Netherworld Person clearly wanted to kill him on sight.

Chu Hao was furious. What’s so great about you, Netherworld Person? I’ll fight you to the death!

He then said gravely, ”System, is there anything that can subdue the Netherworld Person?”

System: ”The System has detected that the Host is fifty to sixty times weaker than the Netherworld Person. With the Host’s current Pretentiousness Points, it is impossible to subdue the Netherworld Person; you can only aim to save your life. It is recommended that the Host upgrade the Iron Bone Curse Seal.”

”Hurry and upgrade it!” Chu Hao urged.

System prompt: ”To upgrade the Iron Bone Curse Seal to the Silver Bone Curse Seal, all of the Host’s Curse Marks and all of their Pretentiousness Points will be required.”

Does it have to be such a rip-off? It needs all my Pretentiousness Points!

Chu Hao currently had a total of 64,000 Pretentiousness Points.

System prompt: ”The Host’s Pretentiousness Points are insufficient. To upgrade to the Fourth Stage Silver Bone Curse Seal, an additional 35,000 Pretentiousness Points are needed.”

So expensive to upgrade to a Silver Bone Curse Seal?

System prompt: ”It is recommended that the Host activate the Little Prince Pretentiousness Support Plan.”

Chu Hao had never used this plan, intending to save it for a life-threatening situation. By this time, the Netherworld Person had already charged over.

Chu Hao had no time to react further and threw a Holding Mountain Fist.

DING!

System prompt: ”Host has used Holding Mountain Fist, consuming 50,000 Mana Points.”

A burst of deathly energy erupted from the Netherworld Person’s body, causing the surrounding flowers, plants, and trees to wither instantly. Had it absorbed all their vitality?

The Netherworld Person also threw a punch.

BOOM!

From the violent collision, Chu Hao’s wrist throbbed with excruciating pain, feeling as if his bones were about to shatter. He was sent flying backward again. The gap in their strength was simply too great. Chu Hao landed far away, battered and bruised, and gasped, ”Was it really necessary to hunt me down so relentlessly just because I took one thing from you?”

Chu Hao was desperate. He took out the Greenwood Flame Fan, downed a bottle of Magic Recovery Potion, and then fiercely fanned it towards the Netherworld Person. Instantly, a strong wave of green flames erupted, a tremendous Fire Wave sweeping forward. Fire burst into existence all around the Netherworld Person, the brilliant conflagration intensely heating the small area. The potent flames of the Samadhi True Fire burned the Netherworld Person, which let out a low growl, seemingly enduring the agony of the scorching heat. Chu Hao was overjoyed, hoping the Greenwood Flame Fan’s power was significant enough to incinerate it.

The next moment, however, Chu Hao was dumbstruck. The Netherworld Person walked out of the inferno, its body charred and emitting the smell of scorched flesh. The Greenwood Flame was quickly extinguished, seemingly absorbed by it. The Netherworld Person roared, a potent deathly energy locking onto Chu Hao.

A chill shot through Chu Hao’s heart. He quickly said, ”System, activate the Little Prince Pretentiousness Support Plan!”

DING!

System prompt: ”Host has activated the Little Prince Pretentiousness Support Plan and received a 70% discount card.”

A 70% discount card?

Chu Hao was ecstatic.

Chu Hao said, ”Recommend an item! I want to finish this guy!”

System: ”Recommendation for the Host: Purchase the Pure Yang Divine Bow. It requires 150,000 Pretentiousness Points. With the 70% discount card, it will cost a total of 45,000 Pretentiousness Points.”

”Purchase,” Chu Hao confirmed.

DING!

System prompt: ”Host has purchased the Pure Yang Divine Bow, using the 70% discount card and consuming 45,000 Pretentiousness Points.”

Item: Pure Yang Divine Bow (Yang Instrument)

Rarity: ★★★★★★ (Six Stars)

Ability One: Pure Yang Arrow. Requires 100,000 Mana Points and all the True Qi of a cultivator at Foundation Establishment Great Perfection for one use.

Ability Two: Fierce Yang Divine Fire Arrow. Requires 150,000 Mana Points and all the True Qi of a cultivator at Foundation Establishment Great Perfection for one use (wide-area attack ability).

Seeing the abilities of the Pure Yang Divine Bow, Chu Hao’s face fell. This is completely unusable! I can forget about the 100,000 Mana Points, and gathering all the True Qi of a Foundation Establishment Great Perfection cultivator is impossible for me!

Chu Hao said angrily, ”System, come out here! I guarantee I won’t beat you to death!”

System: ”Please remain calm. The System has already customized this for the Host. You can purchase arrows from the System Store. It is recommended that the Host purchase Pure Yang Arrows at 30,000 Pretentiousness Points each.”

Thirty thousand Pretentiousness Points each? That’s a complete rip-off!

As the Netherworld Person attacked again, Chu Hao equipped himself with the True Yang Armor, hoping to minimize the damage. Nevertheless, he was still blasted away; the opponent’s strength was terrifyingly immense. Chu Hao’s body skidded across the ground and slammed into a large rock, causing him to spit out another mouthful of blood. He was horrified, yet also grateful for the importance of the Iron Bone Curse Seal; without it, he would already be dead.

Blood trickled from the corner of Chu Hao’s mouth. ”What are my chances of killing him?” he asked.

System: ”Thirty percent.”

The corner of Chu Hao’s mouth twitched. ”Why so low? If one arrow misses, he will definitely be on guard. That guy is too fast! Can all my remaining Pretentiousness Points be used to purchase a single, powerful arrow?”

System: ”Considering the Host’s low strength, you cannot purchase other types of arrows at this time. The Pure Yang Arrow is the only option available.”

What a total scam!

Chu Hao gritted his teeth. ”Exchange my Merit Points! Buy one!”

DING!

System prompt: ”Host has exchanged Merit Points, spending 30,000 Pretentiousness Points to purchase one Pure Yang Arrow.”

Item: Pure Yang Arrow

Ability: Possesses massive Yang Energy. Requires a Yang Instrument-level bow to be used.
