Ghost Catching System

”DING... Host Chu Hao exchanged for the Eight-foot Magatama, obtaining 40,000 Pretentiousness Points.”

With this, Chu Hao now had a total of 90,000 Pretentiousness Points.

Shangu Imperial City watched as Chu Hao took the Eight-foot Magatama. His face grew even uglier as he said angrily, ”You thief! You shameless scoundrel!”

Being called shameless irked Chu Hao greatly. He slapped the man several times, knocking out a few of his teeth and leaving his mouth full of blood blisters. The man looked truly pitiable.

Chu Hao retorted, ”To hell with you! Anyone else can call me shameless, but you? Are you even worthy of calling me a shameless scoundrel? What about the things you little Japanese devils did back in Huaxia? How does that compare to this? Believe it or not, I’ll cut out your tongue right now and deep-fry your Ghost!”

Shangu Imperial City was terrified; he wanted to cry. What rotten luck, running into a zealot like this. He was doomed.

Chu Hao demanded, ”Where is Xiaochun’s soul?”

Shangu Imperial City hesitated.

Chu Hao said, ”You won’t talk, is that it? Fine. I’ll extract your soul right now, deep-fry it, roast it, and then find a few male Ghosts to have some ’fun’ with you.”

Shangu Imperial City turned pale with fear, shaking with terror as he stammered, ”It’s on me.”

Chu Hao found a wrapped-up Talisman on his body. This Talisman had a unique mechanism. If anyone other than the owner tried to open it and release the Ghost inside, it would immediately disintegrate into ash, and the Ghost within would also vanish.

Xiaochun was released—a young female Ghost.

The Slit-mouthed Woman was deeply moved. She bowed low to Chu Hao and said, ”Thank you.”

”DING... Host Chu Hao completed the task, obtaining 15,000,000 Experience Points.”

”DING... Host Chu Hao completed the task, obtaining 200,000 Merit Points.”

”DING... Host Chu Hao completed the task, receiving two Green Diamond Treasure Chests.”

Pretentious Little Prince: Chu Hao

Pretentiousness Points: 88,000

Chu Hao was excited. With the added Merit Points, his Pretentiousness Points had now reached 100,000.

Feeling good, Chu Hao asked, ”I hear you know where the Divine Official Palace is.”

Shangu Imperial City, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth, exclaimed, ”How did you know that?”

Chu Hao sneered, ”What does this Taoist Master not know? I also know that Wo Country’s mystical Kusanagi Sword was originally one of our Huaxia’s weapons.”

Shangu Imperial City trembled all over. ”I can tell you,” he said, ”but you must let me go. Otherwise, even if you kill me and torture my soul, I won’t say a word!”

The Toad, wearing floral-patterned shorts and looking undeniably odd, said, ”Why waste words on him? I have a technique that can extract his memories. Of course, after the extraction, the person is basically ruined.”

Shangu Imperial City was terrified.

Lǚ Zhiyuan looked at his second uncle and muttered, ”Is this really my younger brother, your nephew?”

Chu Xionghuan laughed. ”The Chu Family has hope for its future generation.”

Eventually, Shangu Imperial City spilled everything, including that the Divine Official Palace was in the Holy City, located in an uninhabited region of Tibet.

The Toad mumbled, ”This old fellow knows quite a bit. I bet he has other secrets. Why don’t we just search his soul?”

Shangu Imperial City’s face was ashen. ”Please don’t,” he said, his voice trembling.

He felt a terrible bitterness. His trip to Huaxia had been a complete disaster. The Divine Artifact was snatched away, his secrets were exposed, and now even his life was on the line. To top it off, he had run into two such horrifying Killing Stars—it was the worst possible luck.

In the end, Chu Hao said he wouldn’t kill a captive. Instead, he had Shangu Imperial City accompany them to the Holy City in Tibet to scout ahead.

Upon hearing this, Shangu Imperial City spat out a mouthful of blood. To him, being in their hands was more agonizing than death.

「A Few Days Later」

During this period, Chu Hao and his companions gathered all available information on the Holy City in Tibet to prepare for their journey.

The Holy City of Tibet lay within an uninhabited area of Tibet, sometimes visible, sometimes not, as if by magic. Someone who had approached it wrote an article stating that the Holy City was very strange. It was an ancient city whose architecture did not resemble old Tibetan buildings but rather a place for worshipping Divine Deities.

Someone had tried to send a drone into the area to gather materials, only for the drone to lose its signal and vanish without a trace.

Others had used telescopes designed for observing celestial bodies and discovered that most of the buildings inside were made of bronze. In ancient times, bronze symbolized royal and noble power.

Furthermore, news reports mentioned sightings of Ghost Shadows in the city’s uninhabited area. They appeared and vanished in a flash. It was said these were the spirits of people who once lived in the Holy City, who had become undead and had not dissipated.

Shangu Imperial City knew that Chu Hao genuinely intended to use him as a pathfinder and was scared out of his wits. Desperate to save his life, he blurted out another secret, ”The Holy City only opens on the fifteenth day of the first lunar month, when the moon is full! If we barge in now, who knows what might happen?”

The Toad was furious. He thrashed the old devil soundly with his toad legs, enraged that he had concealed such crucial information.

Chu Xionghuan hung up the phone. He had just spoken with a master astrologer. ”There are only five days until the fifteenth day of the first lunar month,” he said. ”And on that day, the moon will be perfectly full.”

Chu Hao said, ”What other secrets are you keeping? If you don’t want to die in there, speak up.”

Shangu Imperial City had completely given up scheming. ”The ancient manuals of Wo Country have records,” he said. ”The Divine Official Palace has always been mysterious. Rumor has it that Divine Deities live inside, but they aren’t the only residents—powerful Evil Demons are also said to dwell there.”

Chu Zhiyuan asked in confusion, ”Isn’t it called the Divine City? Why would there be Evil Demons inside?”

Shangu Imperial City explained, ”During the Zhou Dynasty, the Evil Demons learned that Sky Gods would descend to the Divine Official Palace after its establishment. The most powerful Evil Demons and ghosts of that era banded together to attack it. It’s said that the Evil Demons even won at the time.”

Everyone was astonished to hear such a thing.

Chu Hao demanded, ”Bring out that recorded manual you mentioned so I can take a look.”

Shangu Imperial City obediently presented a notebook. It was filled with the language of Wo Country—an ancient script that most people wouldn’t be able to decipher.

”These are notes I made myself,” Shangu Imperial City explained. ”The true historical texts are recorded on ancient steles in Wo Country.”

Chu Hao turned to his second maternal uncle. ”Can we find someone who understands this to help?” he said. ”I’m worried this old devil is trying to trick us.”

Chu Xionghuan smiled. ”Actually, there is someone who is quite familiar with ancient Wo Country script.”

「The Next Day」

After waiting a day, the person Chu Xionghuan spoke of arrived.

A silver-haired youth, about Chu Hao’s age and remarkably handsome, drove up in a Ferrari and arrived at the Sanqing Pavilion.

As soon as Chu Hao laid eyes on him, he felt an overwhelming urge to punch him.

The Lord of the Nether Cult, Emperor Bai Jiang.

Emperor Bai Jiang seemed to grow younger with time. Since the resurgence in the Human World, no one knew what opportunities he had seized, but his true age was likely even greater than Chu Xionghuan’s.

Emperor Bai Jiang was quite fashionable. When he first established the Nether Cult, his followers used WeChat to issue tasks. Now, he drove an extravagant car and looked every bit a rich heir, though his actual background was terrifying.

Upon seeing Chu Hao, Emperor Bai Jiang smiled and said, ”We meet again.”

Chu Hao, thoroughly displeased, retorted, ”Why didn’t you take me with you when you left the Underworld?”

Emperor Bai Jiang laughed. ”I wanted to see what you were capable of.”

Chu Hao asked, ”Can I curse your entire family?”

Emperor Bai Jiang chuckled, his handsome profile striking. ”Don’t be so vengeful,” he said. ”We’re on the same side now. Besides, I never expected you to be a descendant of the Chu Family. Speaking of which, I was friends with your father. You should call me ’Uncle.’”

For crying out loud, another one trying to claim kinship? Chu Hao cursed inwardly.
