Ghost Catching System

Shangu Imperial City’s complexion changed. He became even more furious, his face turning the color of pig’s liver. He shouted angrily, ”Xiaochun is still with me! How dare she do this?”

Tiemu Chun asked worriedly, ”Master, what do we do now?”

Shangu Imperial City cursed. After thinking for a moment, he said, ”Damn it! We can’t stay here. We must leave quickly. I’m injured now, and if the Slit-mouthed Woman finds us, it will be very troublesome.”

Shangu Imperial City felt extremely aggrieved. He, a Fourteen Star Yin Yang Master, had been taught a lesson by a group of fierce ghosts upon his arrival in Huaxia and now had his face slapped by Chu Hao. If word of this got out, it would be utterly shameful.

”Yes.”

Shangu Imperial City and his men left the hospital in a sorry state.

As expected, shortly after Shangu Imperial City departed, the Slit-mouthed Woman arrived but failed to find him.

”What do we do?” The Slit-mouthed Woman looked at Chu Hao, genuinely anxious.

Chu Hao said, ”Don’t worry. He’s like a homeless dog now; Xiaochun won’t be in danger with him. His fleeing only proves he’s afraid of both of us.”

The Slit-mouthed Woman nodded, agreeing with Chu Hao’s analysis.

She then voiced her concern, ”If he recovers, Xiaochun will be in grave danger.”

Chu Hao walked over to the hospital bed, searching for anything Shangu Imperial City might have left behind. After looking around, he found a strand of hair, which he presumed was Shangu Imperial City’s.

Chu Hao laughed. ”Old man, let’s see where you can run now.”

He used Shangu Imperial City’s hair to cast the Heavenly Prophecy Technique, a skill capable of predicting a person’s actions in the next second and their subsequent location.

Chu Hao chanted the incantation and shouted, ”Heavenly secrets, reveal yourselves!”

After observing for over ten seconds, Chu Hao withdrew his gaze. The information he had just received was now clear in his mind. He said, ”That old fellow just left the city. Chase him!”

While in a car leaving the city, Shangu Imperial City performed a divination for himself. Unexpectedly, his old injuries flared up, and he spat out a mouthful of blood, exclaiming, ”A bloody disaster! Go, we must go quickly!”

The others were shocked. Has the Slit-mouthed Woman caught up? they wondered.

Everyone shuddered. The Slit-mouthed Woman was terrifying. She could be considered one of the top Fierce Ghosts among the Fourteen Stars, and it had taken their master great effort to subdue her.

At the same time, Shangu Imperial City took out an ancient plate. He chanted an incantation, bit his fingertip, and allowed his blood to drip onto the plate. He then formed a hand seal and continued chanting.

Shangu Imperial City spat out another mouthful of blood, his face extremely pale. He cursed, ”Damn it! I was too careless to leave a strand of hair with you. So you know tracking Mystical Arts too! Well, watch me break yours!”

Half an hour later, Chu Hao finally spotted a vehicle. Pointing ahead, he said, ”That’s the car!”

The Slit-mouthed Woman flew out, appearing on the car’s roof in an instant. Soon after, with a loud BOOM, the car in front flipped over. The people inside were likely doomed.

The Slit-mouthed Woman returned to Chu Hao’s side, saying, ”Shangu Imperial City isn’t there.”

Chu Hao furrowed his brow. At that moment, he saw the hair in his hand disintegrate into ash and vanish.

”He’s cast a spell,” Chu Hao said.

This old fellow is indeed shrewd, Chu Hao thought. Dealing with such a man requires certain measures. I refuse to believe I can’t catch him!

Chu Hao asked, ”System, do you have any item recommendations to help me catch that old fellow?”

The System responded, ”Recommended for the Host: Purchase a Soul Chasing Talisman. Cost: 10,000 Pretentiousness Points.”

The item was called a Soul Chasing Talisman, with a three-star rarity. Its first ability allowed the user to create a tracking trace by writing down a person’s name and envisioning their face. Its second ability was that once the Soul Chasing Talisman caught up with the target, it would attack their soul.

This item is excellent, Chu Hao thought. Worthy of ten thousand Pretentiousness Points! It comes with a soul-chasing skill and also has attack capabilities.

Chu Hao wrote down Shangu Imperial City’s name and pictured his appearance. Although they hadn’t met, Shangu Imperial City’s photograph was on the ranking list.

The Soul Chasing Talisman in Chu Hao’s hand quivered, pointing forward.

Chu Hao declared, ”You can’t escape this Taoist Master’s Five-Finger Mountain!”

More than ten minutes later, Shangu Imperial City’s face was pale. If he hadn’t battled the group of ghosts from the Ghost Temple, he wouldn’t have been so grievously injured. He felt too weak to cast spells; he coughed up blood each time he tried.

Suddenly, Shangu Imperial City’s eyebrows twitched violently. He had a terrible premonition.

Indeed, a woman in a knitted cardigan appeared on the road ahead, her eyes coldly fixed on him.

Tiemu Chun slammed on the brakes, his voice filled with horror, ”The Slit-mouthed Woman?”

Shangu Imperial City panicked. He had already cast a spell to mask all his traces. Even if the other party’s Mystical Arts skills were powerful, they shouldn’t have been able to detect his direction.

Just then, a car stopped behind them. Chu Hao got out and shouted, ”Shangu Imperial City, your grandpa is here!”

DING! ”Host displayed terrifying pretentiousness, earning 4,000 Pretentiousness Points.”

Hearing Chu Hao’s voice, the others grew even more unsettled. How did they catch up to us? they wondered.

They knew how terrifying Chu Hao’s methods were. Shangu Imperial City’s face turned cold. ”Open the door. Get out,” he ordered.

When Shangu Imperial City exited the car, Chu Hao finally saw the old man. He appeared to be in his sixties but was actually around eighty years old. He had salt-and-pepper hair and a compassionate face, resembling an accomplished ascetic.

Shangu Imperial City glared at Chu Hao angrily. ”You whippersnapper, why are you chasing me?”

Chu Hao, still holding the Soul Chasing Talisman, hadn’t let go yet. He smiled. ”Sorry, I’m just the driver.”

The Slit-mouthed Woman drifted over. The others stepped back in terror; this was a top-tier Fierce Ghost, completely beyond their ability to resist. She asked, ”Where is Xiaochun?”

Looking at the Slit-mouthed Woman, Shangu Imperial City sneered, ”Do you think I would bring Xiaochun with me? If you dare harm a single hair on my head, Xiaochun will surely die.”

The Slit-mouthed Woman was furious.

Shangu Imperial City looked at Chu Hao, seemingly less afraid now. The cunning old man said proudly, ”You whippersnapper, do you really think I have no way to deal with you? Slit-mouthed Woman, if you want Xiaochun, kill this man right now!”

Chu Hao held the Soul Chasing Talisman tightly. As it neared its target, it almost flew out of his hand. He said indifferently, ”I was actually considering sparing your life, but since you’re so intent on killing me, then I won’t be polite.”

Shangu Imperial City snorted, his face pale. ”Even injured, I can still kill you.”

Chu Hao retorted, ”Save those words for Yanjun when you get to the Wo Country’s Underworld.”

Shangu Imperial City took out the Eight-foot Magatama—the genuine article—and was about to recite an incantation.

Chu Hao knew the power of the Eight-foot Magatama. He released his grip, and the Soul Chasing Talisman shot out like an arrow. Shangu Imperial City, caught completely off guard, cried out in shock.

The Soul Chasing Talisman struck him. His mind reeled, he spat blood, and nearly fainted, his face turning ghastly pale.

The Soul Chasing Talisman attacked the soul. This blow severely wounded Shangu Imperial City. He never imagined he would meet his end today.

I... I can’t accept this! Shangu Imperial City despaired. I haven’t found the Divine Official Palace yet! I can’t die! I can’t die!

Chu Hao drew the Explosive Shark Knife, determined not to give the old fellow any chance. This old fellow is too cunning, he thought.

Moreover, Chu Hao was quite interested in the genuine Eight-foot Magatama. How many Pretentiousness Points could this be exchanged for? he wondered.

Chu Hao rushed forward to capture him, intending to find out Xiaochun’s whereabouts and complete the mission.

Suddenly, a figure appeared before him. The person threw a punch. A strong sense of crisis surged through Chu Hao, who retaliated without hesitation, swinging his knife.

BANG!

Both combatants retreated. Chu Hao’s face was cold as he stared at the person before him. ”Where did this meddling rat come from?”

P.S. I want to recommend a book by a master of the supernatural genre, *Mao Mountain Ghost Catcher*. It has that unique flavor, and I really enjoy reading his books.
