Ghost Catching System

Chu Hao’s resentment ran deep. He longed to kill. His True Qi surged, radiating a scorching energy.

His second uncle was right, Chu Zhiyuan realized. He indeed was no match for this younger brother of his.

Chu Xionghuan said, ”This is not the place to talk.”

Chu Hao’s resentment was strong. He walked over to the trembling, agonized elder from Shangu Imperial City. To have one’s soul beaten like this while still alive—it was a mercy he hadn’t died. Most people couldn’t endure it.

Tiemu Chun said in terror, ”Chu Hao, we have no grievances! You—!?”

Without another word, Chu Hao beat him black and blue. Piercing screams filled the air while everyone else watched in horrified silence, not daring to move an inch.

After a good few minutes of pummelling, Tiemu Chun, bruised and swollen like a battered pig’s head, lay there wailing miserably.

Chu Hao said, ”Take them all away.”

The Slit-mouthed Woman nodded, opened her gaping maw, and swallowed everyone whole in one gulp.

Chu Zhiyuan swallowed hard. ”The Slit-mouthed Woman,” he said, ”her terror index is top-tier, fourteen stars.”

The group returned to Anli City.

「Sanqing Pavilion.」

Chu Hao asked seriously, ”Where’s the evidence I asked for?”

Just then, two people, a man and a woman who appeared to be in their forties, walked into Sanqing Pavilion. Upon seeing Chu Hao, they excitedly approached him. ”Child! We’ve finally found you,” they exclaimed.

Chu Hao was somewhat confused; he didn’t recognize the man and woman at all.

The woman clutched Chu Hao’s arm tightly, crying, ”Child, don’t you remember us?”

Chu Hao looked towards Chu Xionghuan.

Propping himself on a cane, Chu Xionghuan said, ”They are the foster parents who raised you until you were thirteen. You two, Chu Hao has memory loss. Did you bring any photos?”

The middle-aged woman cried distressingly, ”Child, it was I who lost you! I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry... SOB... SOB...”

Chu Hao hurriedly helped her up. The middle-aged man, though plain-looking, was equally moved upon seeing Chu Hao. He took out some photos and said, ”Child, these are pictures of you living with us. Ever since you were lost, we’ve been looking for you.”

Chu Hao picked up the photos. As he looked at them, his nose tingled. The photos were well-preserved, showing him with his two foster parents. They were undeniably authentic.

His foster parents explained that years ago, when they went to the market in town, they found an abandoned infant by the roadside and simply took him home to adopt.

Chu Hao had vanished suddenly at the age of thirteen. The couple had tearfully searched for him for a long time, but to no avail.

This was all evidence. Chu Hao’s eyes reddened. So it’s true, he thought. I really have lost a part of my memory, and other memories were implanted.

Chu Hao knelt before his foster parents. The middle-aged woman cried, ”Child, get up quickly! Where have you been all these years?”

Chu Hao felt pained inside. Though he lacked that stretch of memory, he could sense their sincerity. ”When I awoke, I was in an orphanage in Jiulong Town,” he said.

The foster father exclaimed, ”Jiulong Town? Our home is so far from there! The human traffickers actually took you that far!”

He then learned that his foster parents’ home was in the south, over a thousand kilometers from Jiulong Town.

After consoling the elderly couple and arranging accommodations for them, Chu Hao sought out Chu Xionghuan. With a stern face, he said, ”Second Uncle, now you can tell me what exactly happened back then.”

To Chu Zhiyuan, Chu Xionghuan said, ”Go buy some late-night snacks and bring them back.”

”Alrighty.”

After Chu Zhiyuan left, Chu Xionghuan began, ”Our Chu Family, back in the Human World, was the foremost among the nine sects specializing in capturing ghosts and demons. The Chu Family’s status was very high. Whether in the Human World or the Underworld, our position was by no means weak.”

Chu Xionghuan continued, ”Your grandfather, Chu Zhenwang, was a Yin-Yang Person in the Underworld. The Underworld would often ask our Chu Family to resolve issues involving ghosts and demons from the Human World, contacting us for such matters.”

”Your mother was a Yin Yang Master, and your father married into the family. However, your father was exceptionally strong, almost without rival in the Human World. He once exterminated a ten-thousand-year-old Chimei demon, making him a legendary figure in our demon-capturing lineage.”

”Not long after they met, they married. Shortly after your mother conceived you, disaster befell our Chu Family.”

”There was turmoil in the Underworld: the Song Emperor rebelled, and then we faced an attack from the Foreign Ghost Army. The Underworld was short-handed, so they contacted the Chu Family for help.”

”Your grandfather and your father went, but something unexpected happened. King Qin Guang learned that your father knew an extremely terrifying Yin Yang Divine Technique and coveted it. When your father refused to teach him, King Qin Guang threatened him using the Chu Family and his wife—your mother.”

Hearing this, Chu Hao’s anger deepened. That King Qin Guang, a dignified Yanjun, was actually so despicable!

Chu Xionghuan’s eyes brimmed with killing intent as he said hatefully, ”Later, your father compromised and taught King Qin Guang the Yin Yang Divine Technique. He never imagined that after King Qin Guang obtained the Yin Yang Divine Technique, he would still move against the Chu Family to prevent your father from ever revealing it.”

Chu Hao clenched his fists tightly. His father had clearly given King Qin Guang the Yin Yang Divine Technique, yet that Yanjun still deserved to die!

Chu Xionghuan’s eyes were full of hatred as he continued, ”After that, the members of the Chu Family were conscripted into the Underworld, and our family vanished from the Human World. Your mother had just given birth to you at the time.”

Chu Hao’s murderous aura was terrifying; he desperately wanted to kill. So this was the reason for everything, the reason he became an orphan.

Chu Hao asked, ”Second Uncle, how did you survive?”

Chu Xionghuan gave a wry smile. ”Someone saved us. Now, of everyone in the Chu Family, only you, Chu Zhiyuan, and I remain—just the three of us. The one who saved us was the Song Emperor.”

Chu Hao was greatly shocked. The Song Emperor saved them?

After betraying the Underworld, the Song Emperor, a Yanjun, was now wanted by them.

Chu Xionghuan said, ”Actually, we had been looking for you before. However, King Qin Guang had done something to you, and we didn’t know your whereabouts. It was only later that someone told me where you were.”

Chu Hao asked in confusion, ”Who told you?”

Chu Xionghuan smiled. ”The first to find you was the Lord of the Nether Cult, Emperor Bai Jiang.”

It was him?

Previously, Emperor Bai Jiang had mentioned that after the Song Emperor left the Underworld, he joined the Demon Emperor’s side, and Emperor Bai Jiang himself was also allied with the Demon Emperor.

Chu Hao asked in surprise, ”Second Uncle, are you aligned with the Demon Emperor?”

Chu Xionghuan nodded slightly. He wasn’t at all surprised that Chu Hao knew; Emperor Bai Jiang had told him (Chu Xionghuan) as much, emphasizing Chu Hao’s extraordinary potential.

Chu Xionghuan sighed. ”To avoid King Qin Guang’s pursuit, we dared not show our faces, so we went to Europe and America.”

So that was it.

”Last time, at King Chu’s Tomb, your people were there too, right?” Chu Hao asked. ”You had already found me by then and even hired a foreign mercenary to protect me.”

Chu Xionghuan nodded. ”Yes, that’s right.”

Chu Xionghuan added with a smile, ”The reason we’ve come to Huaxia now is that there’s trouble in the Underworld. King Qin Guang is busy, so he won’t be coming after us for a while.”

The Underworld, indeed, was in trouble.

With this explanation, everything now made sense.

Chu Hao took a deep breath, his face filled with murderous intent. ”King Qin Guang,” he vowed, ”for all the suffering you’ve brought me, I, Chu Hao, will repay it a hundredfold.”
