Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 2023: Best Forgotten in 2022

The small carriage felt somewhat stifling.

After Jing Xiaocha finished the call with Jin Zheyu, silence fell in the car once again.

After a while, Jing Xiaocha’s soft voice broke the silence, “Brother Wen, do you like Sister Ou?”

Wen Jin was taken aback by her question.

His handsome features showed a slight change of expression.

Under Jing Xiaocha’s sharp gaze, Wen Jin faintly curled his lips and said nonchalantly, “Yi Han has a great personality, independent and not clingy.”

“So, Brother Wen is not dating Sister Ou because you like her.”

Her words caused Wen Jin’s handsome face to sink, but Jing Xiaocha pressed on, “Brother Wen, have you still not let go?”

“Xiaocha, it’s best if you forget about that matter, never bring it up, and you are not allowed to mention it.”

Wen Jin’s demeanor was serious, his tone stern.

It was not just the deepest secret he harbored in his heart, it was a secret that could never, ever be spoken.

A trace of pain flickered in Jing Xiaocha’s eyes, she felt sorry for Wen Jin, who still couldn’t let go, and for his inability to show even a hint of affection for someone he liked.

“Brother Wen, I won’t tell anyone. Because it’s your freedom, but please don’t stop me from liking you. Because that’s also my freedom, and as long as I wish, I can like you until I grow old.”

Jing Xiaocha’s voice was soft and tender, dissipating into the breeze that brushed past her ears.

A fleeting surprise and helplessness flashed in Wen Jin’s eyes.

“I won’t broadcast my feelings for you everywhere either. You and Sister Ou can rest assured in your relationship, I won’t interfere.”

“Xiaocha…”

Wen Jin wanted to say something, but Jing Xiaocha smiled slightly, “Brother Wen, I’ve grown up, I’m not a child anymore.”

Wen Jin sighed.

“You can drop me off up front, you’re dating Sister Ou now, you shouldn’t devote too much energy to other girls.”

Wen Jin had a high opinion of Ou Yihan, and Jing Xiaocha felt that if they continued dating, Wen Jin would eventually fall in love with Ou Yihan.

To walk out of the painful torment of unrequited love for Sister Wen.

She liked Brother Wen, so she sincerely hoped for his happiness.

No matter who he ends up with for the rest of his life, as long as that person can truly make him happy, Jing Xiaocha would sincerely bless them.

And be grateful to the woman who gave Wen Jin happiness.

She would never disturb or destroy their happiness.

Wen Jin contemplated for a moment and gently said, “What you said makes sense. Yi Han has a great personality, but she’s also a girl. But she always says she really likes you, you can feel free to pick a dress. Consider it a graduation gift from me.”

Facing this, Jing Xiaocha couldn’t refuse anymore.

Moreover, at this moment, the anger and grievance inside her dissipated, they came inexplicably and faded away just as quickly.

“Alright.”

Seeing her agree, Wen Jin finally showed a satisfied smile.

Jing Xiaocha’s heart fluttered slightly at that smile, she smiled to conceal it, then turned her head to look out the car window.

**

When Jing Xiaocha and Wen Jin arrived, the waiter informed them that Ou Yihan had left earlier.

Wen Jin instructed the waiter to help Jing Xiaocha pick a dress, while he himself sat leisurely on the leather sofa, sipping tea.

Perhaps because Jing Xiaocha wasn’t picky, within a few minutes, the waiter led her down from upstairs.

“President Wen, what do you think of this dress? It’s one of the ones Miss Ou picked earlier; it really suits this young lady’s temperament.”

Originally, Jing Xiaocha had her hair in a ponytail, but because of the dress, the waiter took down her ponytail, letting her black hair fall over her shoulders.

The light pink dress was simple and elegant, with a beautiful shawl draped over her bare, fair shoulders, highlighting her creamy, jade-like skin.

The shawl added a touch of elegance to the initially sexy ambiance.

But it truly suited Jing Xiaocha very well.

Holding a cup in his left hand, Wen Jin softly gazed at Jing Xiaocha.

The waiter stood by, praising how perfect the dress was, how it seemed tailored specifically for Jing Xiaocha, and how exceptionally beautiful it looked.

“Alright, let’s go with this one.”

Jing Xiaocha, under Wen Jin’s gaze, felt a bit bashful, lowering her eyebrows, daring not meet his eyes.

“I thought the one before was quite nice.”

Jing Xiaocha’s quiet voice arose, and the waiter smiled demurely, “The previous one wasn’t as beautiful as this; the fabric and style of this one are excellent, the craftsmanship exquisite, absolutely flawless, especially suited for you, miss.”

Wen Jin put down the cup, got up, and stepped toward Jing Xiaocha, “This one is very pretty and suits you, what was the other one like? If you liked it, you might as well take both.”

“Okay!”

“Oh, no need.”

The waiter and Jing Xiaocha spoke simultaneously.

One smiled and agreed, the other hastily declined.

Wen Jin instantly understood, the earlier one was certainly not as expensive, so Jing Xiaocha didn’t want the costly option.

“Tonight you’re not just attending a birthday banquet, those people are individuals you may encounter frequently in the future, so don’t compromise too much on attire.”

Wen Jin took out his wallet and handed a card to the waiter.

Jing Xiaocha blinked, she understood Wen Jin’s meaning, she was a newcomer, scheduled to meet many peers tonight, and they were all seniors.

She couldn’t appear too dowdy.

But there wasn’t a need to be this extravagant either.

Jing Xiaocha changed back into her own clothes, the waiter packaged her dress, and Wen Jin received another call from Ou Yihan.

The other person mentioned that she was about to go into surgery, which might take a few hours, so he should take Jing Xiaocha for a hairdo without waiting.

“Let’s grab a bite first, and then I’ll take you for a hairdo.”

After hanging up, Wen Jin said to Jing Xiaocha standing beside him.

“Brother Wen, I can go by myself.”

Jing Xiaocha politely declined.

Wen Jin chuckled indifferently, “Since I’m free today, with nothing else to do, I’d be worried letting you go alone for the hairdo. You might end up attending the evening banquet in your dress with a ponytail.”

“How could that be?”

Jing Xiaocha frowned, slightly miffed at his underestimation.

“Come on, get in the car. Working with Star Summer Film and Television will be an ongoing thing in the future, image is essential, especially the first impression.”

“Brother Wen, I’m not a star, you don’t need to be so serious.”

“But you are a screenwriter, a future famous screenwriter Jin Xiaocha. By the way, I heard the novel you adapted into a film contains many scenes involving pharmaceutical companies and products.”

Wen Jin opened the passenger side door, waiting for Jing Xiaocha to get in as he asked.

Jing Xiaocha looked at him in surprise, “Brother Wen, how did you know?”

“Get in the car first.”

Wen Jin gently patted her head, signaling her to get in before continuing.
